TRAVELORE DESTINATION REPORT: Sofitel Philadelphia, One Of The Best Luxury Hotel Values In Philadelphia

French influence in our hometown Philadelphia can be found all over the city in art, architecture, restaurants, and a few hotels including the Sofitel. The most prominent sites are the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, modeled after the Champs-Elysees; The Philadelphia Museum of Art,with a significant collection including important works by Renoir, Matisse, Monet, and Van Gogh;  The Rodin Museum, with the greatest collection outside of Paris; And the Barns Foundation, holding the finest collection of 19th and 20th century French paintings in the world. Napoleon's older brother Joseph also lived in Philadelphia at 260 S. 9th Street, Bonaparte House.

When planning your next visit to Philadelphia a hotel that should be on your list to consider is the Sofitel as one of the better luxury values for both rooms and suites.

Attention to service and details to make your stay as comfortable as possible is exceptional, as would be expected at a French establishment. Their Liberte lounge and restaurant, under the direction of celebrity chef Jim Coleman, provided a very nice dinner experience. Recommended on their dinner menu is Pan Steamed Prince Edward Mussels in a lemon saffron sauce as a starter and their Seared Dived Scallops served on a bed of local butternut squash & black trumpet mushrooms, meyer lemon-chive beurre blanc. A spa menu is offered, developed by Thalassa Sea & Spa. We found portions very generous, suitable for sharing. Also recommended is their traditional afternoon tea served daily.

Several packages are available including the Barns Breakfast Package that includes 2 untimed passes for
the Barns Foundation, digital audio guides and breakfast for 2. For more details please visit: www.sofitel.com/philadelphia and www.libertelounge.com .
