Travelore News: The Princess Marina At The Fairmont Hamilton Opens Bermuda's Only Full-Service Marina

As part of a more than $90 million redevelopment of The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, the hotel introduces The Princess Marina.  The state-of-the-art marina offers 59 berths, ranging in size to accommodate pleasure craft and tournament fishing boats, as well as super yachts.

The Princess Marina will be the only full service marina in Bermuda with integrated pump-out facilities, custom metered electrical service and water distribution. Floating docks have high freeboard and are concrete for permanence and stability.  Full length fingers offer berth sizes ranging from 30 to 75 feet and are available on annual leases with the option of monthly payments or daily use for those visiting Bermuda.  The southern breakwater of the marina is 500 feet and the western breakwater is 300 feet, allowing the marina to accommodate super yachts of 500 feet or more.  The average water depth is 40 feet.

"From a facilities and amenity standpoint, The Princess Marina leads the market in terms of what we are able to offer our annual lease holders and those docking for only a few days," said David Carey, Dockmaster at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess.  "With annual events like the Bermuda Big Game Classic held each summer and bi-annual traditions like the Newport to Bermuda Race in 2016, the marina is a wonderful addition to Bermuda's vibrant boating and sailing community."

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess will provide additional services for guests of the marina, including custom picnic hampers for day trips or on board catering for events and gatherings aboard larger vessels and yachts.  A marina concierge will be available to assist guests of the Marina, from providing destination information to assisting with restaurant reservations or island activities.  In addition a number of excursions will depart from the marina including Jet Ski, kayak and stand-up paddleboard tours and rentals, Wild Cat 'Round the Island adventures and parasailing.  To make arriving in the destination even easier, vessels will be able to clear Bermuda Customs via the Sail Clear System.

Marina guests will also have signing privileges at the hotel's on-site restaurants, including 1609 Bar & Restaurant, a dramatic harbor side restaurant featuring uninterrupted harbor views and open air dining that opened in summer 2014 and the signature restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson, which will debut in May 2015.

In addition to 1609, the hotel offers a variety of activities at The Princess Marina lounge, including "Indulge," a twilight harbor side cigar experience including spirit pairings, live jazz and a special tapas menu. Seasonally, the hotel hosts "Marina Nights" every Friday, converting the harbor side space into a lively atmosphere with  lounge seating, full bar, outdoor grill and DJ for guests, locals and boaters to enjoy.

"The marina will be a wonderful addition to the services and amenities offered at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess," said Allan Federer, general manager of The Fairmont Hamilton Princess. "Whether guests hold long-term leases or are visitors for just a few days, the atmosphere and location of this new marina, complemented by the hotel's amenities, including renovations to the guestrooms and suites at the hotel, will make it an appealing option for boat owners."
