With Memorial Day behind us, summer is now in full swing — and summer in Philadelphia just wouldn’t be summer without the return of the Wawa Welcome America festival, which celebrates our nation’s Independence Day annually.
The blowout celebration returns this summer for a full week, from June 27 though July 4.
Over the course of the week, a wealth of patriotic activities will take over the city — think free museum admission, fireworks, a parade, concerts and much, much more.
Philly 4th of July Jam with The Roots
Saturday, July 4
Year after year, the blockbuster Philly Fourth of July Jam — the free concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway — features a top-notch show of Grammy Award-winning musicians on the evening of July 4th. The just-released 2015 music lineup features great names like MiguelJennifer Nettlesof Sugarland, and of course, The Roots. Following the music, a spectacular fireworks show will fill the sky above the Art Museum.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
• Party on the Parkway
Saturday, July 4, noon-7 p.m.
To get ready for the epic Fourth of July Jam, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway shuts down to vehicular traffic all day and opens up to patriotic revelers for shopping, food, drinks, games, music and much more in the summer sun. This year, Pogopalooza, the world championships of extreme pogo, will join the party, too.
• Liberty Block Party
Friday, July 3, 1-8:30 p.m.
The Liberty Block Party serves up samplings from the city’s top food trucks, restaurants and more — this time in the Old City neighborhood. This year’s block party will take place between 5th and 6th streets between Market and Chestnut streets.
• Philly @ The Movies
June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2

Enjoy a free patriotic concert by the renowned Philadelphia Orchestra at the RiverStage at the Great Plaza. After the concert, a land-side fireworks display will illuminate the sky.
