Transportation Authority Approves New York's Congestion Pricing Plan
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board voted on Wednesday to approve the toll rates for Manhattan's congestion pricing program, the first of its kind in the United States.
Under the plan, New York City will charge a daily toll of $15 during the day for passenger vehicles driving in Manhattan south of 60th Street starting in mid-June. It will charge up to $36 for larger trucks and buses. The plan still faces a number of legal challenges including from the state of New Jersey.
"This program will reduce traffic in Manhattan's central business district, reduce pollution, and provide critical funding for transit improvements," the MTA said.
New York says more than 900,000 vehicles enter the Manhattan Central Business District daily, reducing travel speeds to around 7 miles an hour (11 kph) on average.
New York City, which has the most congested traffic of any U.S. city, is set to follow London, which implemented a similar charge in 2003.
New York said the charge would cut traffic by 17% and improve air quality and increase transit use by 1% to 2%, as well as generate $1 billion to $1.5 billion a year and support $15 billion in debt financing for mass transit improvement.
Passenger vehicle drivers who enter at night will pay $3.75 and motorcycle riders will pay up to $7.50 to enter the area, the MTA said. Drivers will only be charged once per day.
Taxi users will pay a $1.25 surcharge, while Uber opens new tab and Lyft opens new tab users will pay $2.50 per trip in the congestion zone. Those fees are in addition to New York's $2.50 congestion charge for taxis and $2.75 for for-hire vehicles in place since 2019.
Vehicle owners whose adjusted gross annual income is no more than $50,000 or received low-income benefit may qualify for 50% discounts for some trips or for New York state tax credits under the plan.

The Largest Festival In Latin America Will Be Held In Aguascalientes April 13th To May 5th
The Mexican state of Aguascalientes has announced this year’s lineup to the iconic Feria Nacional de San Marcos which will take place from April 13thto May 5th.
Every April the usually quiet streets of Aguascalientes set the stage for one of the largest festivals in Latin America. The Feria Nacional de San Marcos, arguably the most important fair in Mexico, fills the streets of Aguascalientes' Centro Historico with millions of tourists from all over Latin America as the city comes alive with concerts, bullfighting, art exhibitions, and charreadas. The festival has become a major part of the identity of Aguascalientes and is one of the most recognized festivals in Latin America.
This year, Aguascalientes state Governor, Tere Jiménez, announced that the concert side of the fair will have a diverse bill of performers as part of the state’s open arms and welcoming attitude to its visitors. Starting with a performance by Dutch DJ, Don Diablo, visitors can also enjoy the sounds of 80’s pop band Toto, Mexican pop star Belanova, reguetón artists Wisin, banda-pop musicians Alicia Villareal, La Original Banda Limón, Conjunto Primavera, Invasores and Cardenales de Nuevo León and Spanish artists Alejandro Sanz, Carlos Baute, Plácido Domingo; while international superstars like Sting, Christina Aguilera, Il Divo and Enrique Iglesias.
José Ángel González Serna, President of the National Fair of San Marcos Board, highlighted that this celebration is a unique festival filled with traditions, history, and rich content. It is an unforgettable experience for those who have already lived it, which is why it attracts more visitors and tourists each time.
With a history that dates back nearly two centuries, the Feria Nacional de San Marcos is a sampling of the very best art, culture, and regional history, with fun activities for the entire family. More than 1,500 events take place at the festival each year, and most of them are free to attend, including concerts, theater performances, sporting events, culinary competitions, fashion shows, rides, and activities for kids.
The 2023 festival brought A-list stars to the stage. But the Feria also features a bullfighting series and one of the most important livestock exhibitions in Latin America. All of these events, captivate close to 9 million visitors every year.
During the weeks that the festival is in town, several businesses close and it’s treated like a local/national holiday. So important is the Feria to Aguascalientes that the city operates Mexico's only "walk-in casino" during festival time, made legal by a special permit. This allows the casino to operate for a fixed and limited time each year, exclusively for the fair and offers people ages 18 and over to try their luck at roulette, Blackjack, Poker, and other casino games.
One of the main venues for the festival is Isla San Marcos, a 108-acre area in the city designed exclusively for entertainment. Manicured walking paths, wind their way around a pond, at the center of which is a towering statue of La Catrina, as well as one of the largest mechanical clocks in Latin America. This area is home to the Livestock Exhibition, which is an integral part of the Feria San Marcos. Visitors will also find restaurants, amusement rides, shopping, and a zip line course all at the Isla San Marcos.
Charreada competitions are held at the San Marcos Arena, which is also part of Isla San Marcos. Charreria is a national sport in Mexico and the competitions in Aguascalientes during the Feria draw more than 12,000 spectators to the arena.
Today’s Feria de San Marcos is very much still rooted in the historic traditions of the early days of its inception. The very first Feria was held in 1828 in the neighborhood of San Marcos, just a few blocks from the capital city's Zocalo, or main square. By the end of the 19th century, the Mexican Central Railway had made Aguascalientes an important transfer hub. Because of this, news of the Feria spread far and wide.
When the festival began it was a harvest festival designed to put the produce and livestock of Aguascalientes into the spotlight. By 1842, the church donated a large plot of land, which was then transformed into the Jardin de San Marcos, from which the modern-day festival takes its name. In 1896, the Plaza de Toros San Marcos was constructed, at which point bullfights were included on the list of annual festival events. What skyrocketed the festival to national status was the expansion of the railway in Aguascalientes, as well as recognition of the event by President Adolfo Lopez Mateos in 1956.
Today that message has spread to all corners of Latin America and the festival itself fills the streets of the Centro Historico, the Jardin de San Marcos, the Templo de San Marcos, and Isla San Marcos — all essential parts of the city of Aguascalientes and each one hosting its own share of the more than 1,000 events and exhibitions.

Travelore News: Florida Governor, Disney Reach Settlement In Lawsuit Over Special District
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Walt Disney World opens new tab have reached a settlement to end a high-profile state lawsuit over the control of the special district that includes Walt Disney World in Orlando, the company said on Wednesday.
The settlement ends all litigation pending in state court of Florida between Disney and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, according to the company. A district board appointed by DeSantis to oversee development around Disney's Florida theme parks had sued the company last year to void "backroom deals" favorable to the entertainment giant.
The lawsuit in state court in Orange County, Florida, had sought to invalidate an agreement prior board members made with Disney, arguing it amounted to a one-sided deal that was rubber stamped.
"This agreement opens a new chapter of constructive engagement with the new leadership of the district," Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle said.

Spain's Biggest Tourist Hotspot Bans Bikinis And Going Topless In Public Places As Tourists Warned They Risk $600+ Fines
Vacationers are being warned to put it away as some could face hefty fines for donning swimwear in Spain.
The destination popular for sunseekers is enforcing new dress code rules which could result in penalties of over $600 for those flouting them in bikinis or swim shorts. The new laws dictate what people can wear in public, with the risk of penalties if they don't follow the rules.
As the summer season is around the corner and many families plan their getaways, they're being urged to bear these new rules in mind. These rules apply not just in Barcelona, but in other places throughout Spain, and they concern wearing bikinis and roaming about without a shirt in public areas.
It's absolutely fine for visitors to strut around in their beachwear at the beach or by the hotel pool. But, when strolling about town, they might want to think about swapping their swimsuits for regular clothes.
But, experts in travel warn that local authorities won't take too kindly to such attire, Birmingham Live reports. As Henry Sunley, the boss at Travel Republic put it, "The announcements from The Foreign Office of various new rules that will be coming into effect in some popular holiday destinations might be overwhelming news for people who have already booked their holidays."
"Understanding the new rules and how they could affect you should be a priority to make sure that nothing takes you by surprise during your trip. With these announcements strict laws could also see travellers handed a fine for wearing a bikini or going shirtless in Spain."
"The Foreign Office has issued warnings that if people are caught without being properly clothed in some areas near to beaches they will be stopped by the police. Tourists are fine to wear bikinis and swimwear on the beach or poolside - but if you head to local shops and restaurants, you could end up being fined if dressed inappropriately."

United Airlines Has Become The First Major US Carrier To Allow Frequent Fliers To Pool Miles
Pooling is available for family and friends.
Family travel is now easier
United Airlines has become the first US airline to allow members of a loyalty program to pool miles with up to five people. MileagePlus pooling, as United calls it, is now available on its website. It encourages users to form groups to earn and redeem miles together, whether with family or friends. United highlighted that many families travel together, and it hopes to make it easier for them to do so.
In its announcement, United explained that the pool leader must be over 18 and can create the pool for free on the airline's website. Leaders then invite up to four people to join. Anyone wishing to enter a pool must have an active MileagePlus account, for which there is no age restriction. Once users log in to their accounts on the United website, they will be instructed on how to earn and redeem miles.
"We're always looking for new ways to provide the most value to all of our loyalty members and are proud to be the first major U.S. airline to allow our members to pool their miles with their loved ones and friends. MileagePlus miles pooling further reinforces United's position as the leader in family and group travel and gives our members more flexibility to use their miles while making it easier to connect to the destinations and moments that matter most, with the people that matter most." - Luc Bondar, Chief Operating Officer of MileagePlus
It is important to note that the only thing that can be pooled is miles, but Premier qualifying points (PQP), Premier qualifying flights (PQF), PlusPoints, or TravelBank cash are not eligible.
This announcement is not the first time United has sought to make family travel more accessible. In February 2023, the airline unveiled a tool that searches for available adjacent seats when a parent is booking travel with a child 12 or under. When available, the seats can be selected for free, and if needed, United will offer complimentary upgrades to Preferred Seats. This feature is also available for Basic Economy bookings.
ITA Airways creates its pooling program
United was not the only airline that made family travel easier today. Earlier, Italian carrier ITA Airways launched a new part of its loyalty program Volare, called AVVENTURA. It is available for passengers as young as two, reducing the previous minimum age of 16. ITA is also offering its passengers a pooling option, calling its function "Create A Family," but unlike United, it is only meant for immediate family.
ITA has limited how much can be earned and shared between family members - up to 100,000 non-qualifying Volare points annually. Today's announcement added that more exclusive benefits and services will be available to AVVENTURA members in the coming months. Like adults in the Volare program, young passengers can climb the ranks of the program's statuses. Only points earned from flying will allow passengers to achieve higher status, but non-qualifying points can be earned in several ways and redeemed for travel.

Italy Regulator Probes Booking.Com For Alleged Abuse Of Dominant Position
Italy's competition watchdog said on Friday it has opened a probe into Booking.com opens new tab to establish whether the travel website is abusing its dominant market position.
The watchdog, AGCM, said that the website's handling of hotels that are part of Booking.com's Preferred Partner Programme "seems likely to hinder effective competition in the market, at least nationwide, for online hotel brokerage and reservation services".
This strategy is "to the detriment of other online travel agents with negative effects on accommodation facilities and, ultimately, on consumers in terms of higher prices and less choice," the authority said in a statement.
It added that Italian tax police Guardia di Finanza had carried out searches at Booking.com's Italian offices.
"We are fully cooperating with the Guardia di Finanza and the Italian competition authority who visited our offices in Italy yesterday," a Booking.com spokesperson said.
"While we will work with the authorities, we absolutely believe that concerns around competition should be handled with the EU directly, in line with their current regulatory proposals - not additionally on a country by country basis," a company spokeswoman added.

What To Expect Onboard United Airlines' International Flights
United Airlines longest flight is an 8,440-mile flight between San Francisco and Singapore.
Regarded as being one of the big three United States carriers, United Airlines can trace its roots all the way back to 1926. It was founded by American aviation pioneer Walter Varney, who was awarded one of the first contracts to deliver mail between Pasco, Washington, and Elko, Nevada, with a stopover in Boise, Idaho.
In 1927, Boeing founder William Boeing was awarded a mail contract and, in 1929, merged his company with Pratt & Whitney to form the United Aircraft and Transport Corporation. Following a five-company merger, Walter sold the Varney Air Group to United Aircraft and Transport in 1930, and three years later, the company name was changed to United Air Lines in 1933.
United Airlines is the world's fifth-largest airline by passenger numbers
From its headquarters in the 110-story Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois, United Airlines has become the world’s third-largest airline by revenue and the 5th by passengers carried. Denver International Airport (DEN) is United’s hub for the Rocky Mountain region.
Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM) in Guam is United’s hub for flight routes in the Pacific region. Despite being a key hub, Guam has no direct flights to the mainland USA.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is United’s secondary hub for the West Coast and gateway to Asia and Australia.
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey is United’s primary hub for the East Coast and gateway to Europe.

Spanish Airports Schedule 8% More Summer Seats
Spanish airport operator Aena opens new tab said on Tuesday the airlines in its network have scheduled nearly 8% more seats for this summer than last year, as a rebound in tourism continues since pandemic-related curbs ended.
Airlines have planned 243 million seats at Aena airports, including for both departures and arrivals, for the summer season from March 31 through Oct. 26, Aena said.
European airlines have so far reported strong summer forward bookings, keeping a positive outlook for 2024 as they benefit from a continuing post-pandemic travel boom.
Aena increased its seating schedule by more than 10% in the European market from the past summer, boosted by the UK, Germany and Italy.
The Spanish market saw a rise of about 3%.
Aena's passenger numbers are recovering more rapidly from the pandemic slump than those of other European operators. It expects to manage around one million passengers each day at its airports by 2026.

Experts at Audley Travel have revealed which cities have the highest number of five-star rated museums and galleries. Following an analysis of TripAdvisor data, the travel company can now unveil that London, Prague, Paris, Istanbul, and New York City respectively top the list for cities of culture.
Audley's specialists have shared their thoughts on why these destinations make culture connoisseurs happiest of all.
London ranked in first place
It's unsurprising that cosmopolitan, historically rich London ranks high on this list. There are over 170 museums and galleries in the city — enough to visit a new one every week for more than three years — and 97 of them have 5-star ratings on Trip Advisor. So, what is it that makes London a cut above the rest of the cultural juggernauts the world over?
"London's museums and galleries give it their all," explains Jacqui Kaliouby, a UK specialist at Audley Travel. "They aren't just these enormous spaces for artifacts to gather dust — they're constantly changing with fresh exhibitions, new talks, innovative interactive experiences... you name it."
It also helps that many of the city's biggest, most renowned museums are free and easy to access. "Take the British Museum," says Jacqui. "You can get off a train at Kings Cross Station and within 25 minutes be walking among relics and ruins from antiquity to the Antipodes."
London's long history and multicultural populace have shaped a unique cultural scene. On one hand, it's home to huge, family-friendly institutions that house the rarest of the rare: the Rosetta Stone, Van Gogh's Sunflowers, Warhol's Marilyn Diptych, to name a few.
Other cities on the list
Next on the list is the city of a thousand spires, Prague. Where London shines for its mosaic of multicultural museums, Prague dazzles with its attention to detail — in particular, when it comes to its own history. The Museum of Communism and the Jewish Museum are just two examples of carefully curated smaller-sized institutions sprinkled around the city.
The vibrant City of Light, Paris, is third on the list. "Paris is so much more than the Mona Lisa," states France specialist Lisa Finnegan. "Travelers flock here for its unparalleled devotion to fashion, art, heritage, food… Museums like Musée d'Orsay showcase all of this and more — in sprawling, palace-like buildings on the banks of the Seine."
Rounding off the top five are Istanbul — where travelers can explore collections dedicated to Byzantine art and the Ottoman Empire — as well as the Big Apple itself, New York City. With its finger on the pulse of the present, as well the past, New York offers a versatile mix: from flamboyant modern art pieces at The Metropolitan Museum of American Art to touching stories of survival at the Ellis Island National Immigration Museum.

Egypt Becomes Latest Host Of FIFA's New Friendly Series
Egypt became the fifth country to be selected as host of a new series of friendly games introduced by FIFA to allow teams from different confederations to play each other, the world soccer governing body said on Monday.
The pilot phase was expanded to feature 24 national teams, who will play across three continents, FIFA said in a statement.
The Egypt edition -- which will take place from March 22-26 -- will also include Croatia, Tunisia and New Zealand.
Egypt will host New Zealand in the opening game on Friday, which will also mark the inauguration of a new 92,000-capacity stadium that the country has built in a new administrative capital, 45 km (28 miles) east of Cairo.
Named Egypt Stadium, the venue is the second biggest in Africa, behind South Africa's 94,000-seater Soccer City.
Tunisia will face Croatia in the other game, with the winners playing each other in the second match.
Although there are no trophies or prize money, the series is designed to benefit national teams that do not have the opportunity to play teams from other confederations, with FIFA set to cover travel costs.
Algeria, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka will simultaneously host other editions this month, although formats will differ.

A Danish Hippie Oasis Has Fought Drug Sales For Years. Now, Locals Want To Tear Up The Whole Street
The inhabitants of Copenhagen’s freewheeling Christiania neighborhood plan to dig up the aptly named Pusher Street, in their latest attempt to stop illegal hashish sales which have led to deadly gang turf wars and sometimes violent confrontations with the police.
Residents of the hippie enclave are calling for volunteers to help dig up the street on April 6, the Berlingske newspaper wrote Thursday. All are welcome, and participants can take home one of its cobblestones as a souvenir.
It is yet unclear what will replace the street.
The residents are fighting to preserve Christiania’s reputation as a “free-wheeling society” made up of political idealists and aging hippies. For years, hash has been sold openly in Christiania from roadside stalls, among buildings painted in psychedelic colors. But inhabitants say that feuding gangs, not them, control the trade and the survival of their community hinges on ending it.
The neighborhood has been a world apart from the rest of Copenhagen since 1973, when hippies squatted at a derelict naval base and set up a community dedicated to the flower-power ideals popular at the time: free cannabis, limited government influence, no cars and no police.
After more than four decades of locking horns with authorities, they were given control over their homes when the state sold the 84-acre (24-hectare) enclave for 85.4 million kroner ($12.5 million) to a foundation owned by its inhabitants. There are nearly 700 adults and about 150 children living in the community today, and it’s one of the Danish capital’s biggest tourist attractions.
The “Christianites” have made several attempts to close the hashish market in the roughly 100 meter (328 foot)-long street. Police say the trade, worth millions, is controlled by the Hells Angels and the outlawed Loyal to Family.
Authorities tolerated hashish sales in Christiania until 2004, when police started to crack down. To preempt police raids, residents took down hash booths, but trading soon came back. Last year, they brought heavy machinery to tear down the market but masked men stopped them.
In the past month, Christiania has worked with local authorities to make plan that includes ending the drug trade and replacing it with other activities.
The social and housing ministry said that it was “an important prerequisite to get rid of the organized hashish trade” before Christiania can get 14.3 million kroner ($2.1 million) earmarked for the work.
A 30-year-old man who was selling drugs was shot and killed, and four others injured, in August; in 2022, a man selling hashish from one of the street’s booths was shot dead. The previous year, a man was shot and killed at the entrance to the same street.
Last year, the mayor of Copenhagen urged foreigners not to buy hashish there because of the deadly shootings.

Twenty-Four Great Reasons To Visit Nayarit, Mexico This Spring
Mexico’s State of Nayarit has long been a favorite for beach travelers, but few tourists are fully aware of all that this unique part of Mexico has to offer.
While Nayarit is indeed blessed with one of the most spectacular coastlines in the country, it is also a region steeped in ancient history, arts and culture, and gastronomy. It provides unparalleled wellness experiences and is a champion of environmental and social sustainability. Add to that adventure-packed outdoor experiences, national parks, and more Magical Towns than any other state in Mexico.
If you’re looking for the next great adventure in Mexico, read on to discover why 2024 is the year to experience the State of Nayarit.
1.Wellness
The beautiful jungle-covered mountains, crashing Pacific coastline, and abundance of wildlife sets the ideal backdrop for a wellness journey. Whether it's an indulgent treatment at a world-class spa in Punta de Mita, a multi-day yoga retreat in Sayulita, or an ancient healing ritual rooted in centuries of indigenous tradition, Nayarit has everything travelers need to embark on a wellness journey.
2.Sustainability
A leader in environmental preservation, Nayarit's tourism growth is focused on sustainability. Nayarit is a member of the Hotel Basics initiative of the World Travel and Tourism Council, which seeks to take an important step towards the care of natural environments and respect for the communities. Hotels must work under sustainability criteria, such as reducing energy and water consumption, reducing carbon emissions, protecting the environment, and contributing positively to the environment and its communities.
3.Gastronomy
Nayarit's wealth is not only determined by its natural beauty. Its gastronomy is part of what makes this state unique. Dishes like Pescado Zarandeado and Chicharron de Pescado can trace their roots back to pre-Hispanic times. Also native to Nayarit is Tlaxtihuilli, a seafood soup that uses shrimp, corn, and guajillo chiles. Don’t forget to sample the raicilla, a highly potent spirit made from the agave plant, similar to tequila and mezcal.
4.Indigenous Culture
Travelers who want to learn more about the indigenous communities of Nayarit can head to the Sierra del Nayar, a region of Nayarit characterized by mountain ranges, jungles, and native communities that have kept their traditions and customs alive. The groups that settled in the Sierra del Nayar are the Coras, Huicholes, Tepehuanos, and Mexicaneros.
A visit to the community of El Nayar is the best place to learn about these communities. The main ethnic groups here are the Cora and Huichol and their Holy Week has been designated an Intangible World Heritage by UNESCO. The event features men painted in body paint from head to toe, fighting ritual battles with wooden swords, dancing, feasting, and much more.
5.Wildlife
The natural beauty and wildlife of Nayarit is unparalleled, from marine life to migratory birds, jungle wildcats, and beyond. So much of the state is protected in Natural Reserves where its wildlife can thrive. Parque Nacional Islas Marietas, for example, located just five miles from Punta de Mita, is home to a diverse number of endemic species, while Sierra de Vallejo is home to the Santuario del Jaguar, a nearly 5,000-acreprotected area known for its jaguar population.
6.Coffee
Coffee culture is more than just a trend in Nayarit — it's a way of life. Some of the best organic coffee in the world is grown in the state. The warm, humid climate, volcanic mountain soil, and high altitude make Nayarit one of the best coffee producers in Mexico. Not only is it possible to sip a great cup of coffee, but visitors can tour the coffee plantations. Grupo Terruño Nayarita is a business that organizes the small farms of sustainable coffee production in the state. The group consists of nearly 400 local producers.
7.Magical Towns
Nayarit is blessed with nine Magical Towns —the most for one state in the country. The Magical Towns of Mexico, or Pueblos Magicos, is a government-granted designation given to towns or villages in Mexico that best exemplify aspects of culture, history, tradition, art, food, nature, and beyond. These recognized places have something unique to them that helps to tell the story of the soul of Mexico. Nayarit's Magical Towns include Sayulita, Compostela, Jala, Mexcaltitán, Ahuacatlán, Amatlán de Cañas, Ixtlán del Río,San Blas, and Puerto Balleto (Islas Marías).
8.National Parks
Nayarit is home to three of Mexico's National Parks. The first is Islas Marietas National Park, an archipelago five miles from Punta de Mita made up of two islands, two islets, and several rocky shallows home to endemic and migratory marine and bird life. La Tovara National Park, located in San Blas, is a habitat of estuary and freshwater springs, with canals surrounded by mangroves, vegetation, and brilliant orchids and bromeliads. Finally, Isla Isabel National Park is a virgin coastal paradise known for its panoramic Pacific Ocean views, sea-facing cliffs, and rolling mountains.
9.History
The capital of Nayarit is Tepic, a city whose rich legacy can be seen through its architecture, museums, and traditions. Tepic was founded in 1531 as the capital of the Kingdom of New Galicia, a region that was made up of central, northern, and western Mexico. A visit to Tepic starts downtown in the Plaza de Armas and its Purisima Concepcion Cathedral, built between 1804 and 1896. You will also find the Cruz del Zacate Temple and the Government Palace, which houses murals from Jose Luis Soto. Museums in Tepic include the Regional Museum of Nayarit, as well as the Juan Escutia House-Museum, located in the 18th-century birthplace of this national Mexican hero — among many other museums dedicated to art, archaeology, and history.
10.Adventure Tourism
Nayarit's landscape is the perfect playground for adventure enthusiasts. From epic surf breaks along the Pacific Coast, to hiking, biking, and zip lining, there is no shortage of outdoor adventure to explore in the state. Other fun things to do in Nayarit include rappelling, ATV off-road adventure tours, or a guided backcountry eco-adventure tour aboard a4×4 Mercedes Benz jeep.
11.Luxury
The luxury landscape of Nayarit is one of the most exclusive in Mexico. Luxe legends like Punta Mita have been home to brands like Four Seasons and St. Regis for decades. Up the coastline, the newer, dreamy, elegant Mandarina development has a One&Only resort. Coming soon, Nayarit is expecting a Rosewood Hotel and a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Nayarit has dozens of boho-chic boutique hotels all up the coastline, as well, particularly in Punta de Mita, Sayulita, and San Pancho.
12.Low-key Living
The overall vibe of Nayarit is to take a step back, embrace the present, and get in touch with nature. You won't find late-night clubs with thumping music, or raucous party bars. Instead, the lifestyle in Nayarit is about toes-in-the-sand dining, cultural connections, or deep dives into history.
13.Beaches
It's impossible to talk about Nayarit and not mention its spectacular beaches. From Nuevo Nayarit up to the border with Sinaloa, the coastline is blessed with some of the best beaches in Mexico. Towns like Bucerias, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, San Pancho, Lo de Marcos, Guayabitos, and San Blas — also known as the Riviera Nayarit — have been drawing sun worshippers, surfers, and beachcombers for decades.
14. Art
Central to Nayarit is the Huichol, or Wixáritari, community. Their artistic traditions are deeply rooted in spirituality, represented through spectacular beadwork. The Huichol artwork takes inspiration from symbolism and the balance of opposites, like the relationship between light and dark or the rainy and dry seasons. You can find Huichol art in galleries and gift shops throughout Nayarit, particularly in the mountain communities as well as the coastal towns and villages.
15.Surfing
With such a stellar coastline comes ample opportunity for world-class surfing. There are seven different surf “breaks” circling the Punta Mita southern peninsula alone, from Anclote to Sayulita. These provide surfers of all skill levels with many options — from zippy reefs to perfect point breaks. Other incredible surf breaks can be found further north in Chacala and San Blas.
16.Crafts/Artisans
Part of the Huichol tradition is creating beautiful crafts. Artisans across the state specialize in a few key crafts that have become integral to the Huichol culture. The Tzicuri, or "God's Eye," is one of the most iconic, symbolizing protection over children. The weave of five interconnected diamonds is seen as a symbol of power and protection. Similarly, the Nerikate are ritual tools rooted in spirituality, made with yarn or beads on large wooden canvases. They represent divine revelation. Finally, Nayarit is known for its alebrijes, vibrant and cheerful surrealistic folk art sculptures that usually take the form of animals.
17.Cultural Capital
Surrounding Tepic are majestic mountains, which hold many of the state's secrets, from its adventure and ecotourism offerings to its Magical Towns and native communities. The town of Amatlán de Cañas, for example, feels paused in time. Surrounded by mountains and sliced by rocky canyons, this town is known for its historic temples. Another at tractionnear Tepic is the Los Toriles archaeological site, home to 93 historics tructures, including a pyramid dedicated to the Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl.
18.Islands
Nayarit is home to some of the most unique islands in Mexico. Islas Marietas National Park, for example, is a protected land home to rich wildlife. Mexcaltitan is a Magical Town island known for its canals that have earned the nickname, "Venice of Mexico." Further out to sea are Islas Marias, a former federal prison now a protected natural environment.
19.Golf
Exclusivity and luxury set the tone for the nine golf courses in the state, designed by legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Jim Lipe, Percy Clifford, and Robert Von Hagge & Baril. Thesetop-tier golf courses feature spectacular views over the Bay of Banderas and the Pacific Ocean, as well as the beautiful beaches and mountain rainforests of the Sierra Madres.
20. A growing wine scene21.Fashion boutiques
Since its early days, Sayulita has been setting fashion trends for the boho chic crowd along the Riviera Nayarit. Back before Calle Delfin was even paved, it was peppered with funky clothing and jewelry shops. Today, all of Sayulita is essentially an open-air shopper's paradise with an incredible selection of jewelry, clothing, surf wear, swimsuits, pottery, textiles, and souvenirs. On the heels of Sayulita is San Pancho, whose fashion scene is slowly growing to match the offerings and style of its neighbor.

22.Islas Marias
Islas Marias is a true story of transformation and repurposing to create something beautiful. About 80 miles off the coast of San Blas is a string of islands that was once home to one of the most infamous federal prisons in Mexico. Today, however, it is one of UNESCO's natural protected areas and a center for environmental tourism. Accessible only by boat, the protected islands are home to a cultural center, hiking trails, wildlife, and the Pueblo Magico of Puerto Balleto.
23.Festival Gourmet
Nayarit is part of Mexico's explosive culinary scene. This extends far beyond local dishes and casual beach fare — it's part of an elite gourmet gastronomy experience. Each year, Nayarit is one of the hosts of Festival Gourmet International, a world-class food festival spread across dozens of restaurants bringing roughly 75 chefs, events, and thousands of foodies to Riviera Nayarit, Tepic, and Puerto Vallarta.
24.Ease of Access
Nayarit is one of the easiest states to reach from the U.S. and Canada. Visitors to Nayarit can fly into Puerto Vallarta and drive up the coastline. For interior visits to Nayarit, travelers can fly into Guadalajara or Tepic. In 2023 Aeromexico launched its first route between Mexico City and Tepic.
NAYARIT is a state in western Mexico, between the forested mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental and the Pacific Ocean. It’s more than beaches, however. There are also mountains, volcanos, freshwater lagoons, colonial towns and indigenous people from ethnic groups such as the Coras, Huicholes, Tepehuanos and Mexicaneros. All of whom welcome visitors to buy their crafts and share in their festivities. This area is known as Valle Nayarit. Riviera Nayarit, with its 192 miles of coastline, is home to the colonial city of San Blas, whose 16th-century San Basilio Fort once protected the area from pirates. Just to the south are the surf-friendly beaches of Matanchén Bay, while to the north is the island of Mexcaltián, considered the cradle of Aztec civilization.
While Nayarit is indeed blessed with one of the most spectacular coastlines in the country, it is also a region steeped in ancient history, arts and culture, and gastronomy.

Travelore Tips: These Airports Are No Longer Asking TSA PreCheck Passengers To Show ID
If you have TSA PreCheck and you're flying through one of these airports, getting through security could soon be even quicker for you.
United Airlines is offering a touchless ID program. Angela Lang/CNET
Getting through an airport from baggage check to your gate can sometimes be a lengthy process, and it can be especially frustrating when you're strapped for time. A new feature available at some airports and through a couple of airlines may be of significant help if you're a TSA PreCheck traveler.
A small set of airlines and airports are letting TSA PreCheck passengers use a touchless ID program when checking bags and walking through the PreCheck lines. Instead of showing ID, travelers' faces will be scanned using the Transportation Security Administration's facial recognition technology.
We'll tell you below which airports and airlines are offering the touchless ID option. Interested in other technologies the TSA is working on? Check out these security pods the administration showed off at CES this year.
Which airports are participating?
Right now, there's a small number of airports participating in the touchless ID program for TSA PreCheck passengers. Here's what they are.
Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD)
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
In the future, American Airlines will have its own touchless ID program.
Which airlines are offering the touchless ID option?
Only two airlines are currently offering a touchless ID option when going through airport security. Here's what they are.
United Airlines: TSA PreCheck passengers can choose the airline's Touchless ID program when flying through the above airports. This means they won't have to show a boarding pass or a driver's license. Instead, customers can use their faces as identification to go through TSA PreCheck lines and when checking their bags at the entrance.
When checking a bag, TSA PreCheck customers should look for a shortcut kiosk where they can drop off their bags. Their photo will be taken at this kiosk and a tag for their luggage will be printed. Their photo will also be taken at the TSA PreCheck security checkpoint.
The Points Guy says before May 2024, you may still be required to show a physical form of ID, so be prepared.
Delta Airlines: TSA PreCheck passengers can use Delta's Digital ID option to fly without showing their ID. This option uses the customer's saved passport information to match the photo taken at the security checkpoint.
Delta also offers touchless ID while dropping off bags, and the option is available at multiple airports, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA), as well as the airports mentioned above.
How to get TSA PreCheck and use the touchless ID option
You'll first need to apply to join the TSA PreCheck program. Approval for that could take up to 60 days, but the TSA says it generally only takes three to five days.
For United, you'll need to upload your passport and your Known Traveler Number to the United app. When checking in for the flight, you can select facial scan as your form of ID and give United permission to scan your face.
For Delta, you'll opt in using the Fly Delta app by uploading your passport and KTN. During check-in when you look at your boarding pass, you should see a green button that says Digital ID.

Travelore News: Intense Rainfall Sweeps Across Dubai And The Wider United Arab Emirates, Disrupting Flights
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Intense rainfall swept across Dubai and the wider United Arab Emirates this weekend, causing localized flooding and disrupting flights at the world’s busiest airport for international travel.
Nearly 50 millimeters (2 inches) of rain fell in Dubai over six hours — a heavy amount when the country as a whole averages under 120 millimeters (4.7 inches) of precipitation a year. Authorities sent crews out to collect downed tree limbs and open up drainage grates, though the rain quickly overwhelmed some areas.
Dubai police shut down portions of one major highway as traffic slowly crept through standing water on others. Rare lightning storms also lit up the afternoon sky.
At Dubai International Airport, the busiest for international travel, flights for both long-haul carrier Emirates and its low-cost sister airline, FlyDubai, were disrupted in the downpour.
Authorities had warned the public about the coming storm over a day in advance, with emergency personnel preparing for the rare rain.
Rain is unusual in this arid, Arabian Peninsula nation, but occurs periodically during the cooler winter months.

Italy's High Speed Frecce Trains Bring In New Luggage Rules
Trenitalia limits number of bags on Frecce trains, with fines for those who fail to comply with new rules.
Italian rail operator Trenitalia is introducing new restrictions on the amount of luggage that passengers can carry aboard its high-speed Frecce trains from 1 March 2024.
The new rules will see each passenger permitted to take two bags on board Frecce trains (Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca) free of charge.
There are new maximum size restrictions for luggage and passengers will be asked to place a label on each bag containing their name and contact details "in a clear and legible manner", according to the Trenitalia website.
The baggage size restrictions vary, however, depending on which class the passenger is travelling on the Frecce trains.
The Trenitalia website states that for those travelling in second class and in the Standard and Premium service levels, the "maximum total dimensions of your baggage (length plus width plus depth), including pockets, wheels and handles, must not exceed 161 cm (of which each dimension not exceeding 80 cm)."
Meanwhile for those travelling in first class and in Executive and Business, the "maximum total dimensions of your baggage (length plus width plus depth), including pockets, wheels and handles, must not exceed 183 cm (of which each dimension does not greater than 120 cm)."
Passengers with skis, prams, strollers, musical instruments, bicycles (all types, provided they are dismantled and/or foldable) and electric scooters can transport them in addition to the number of pieces of luggage allowed - the website states - "provided that the sum of the total dimensions of the skis, prams, strollers and musical instruments is not greater than 200 cm (length plus width plus depth) and that the dimensions of the bag in which you want to transport your bicycle or electric scooter are not greater than 80x110x45 cm."
Passengers can only place their luggage in the dedicated spaces and cannot store them near the train access doors, in the vestibules and transit corridors.
Trenitalia warns that those fail to comply with the new rules will be handed a fine of €50 as well as being obliged to unload their luggage "at the first station where the train stops."
