TRAVELORE DESTINATION REPORT: The Dupont Circle Hotel In Washington, DC., Where You And Your Full Family Can Live Like Diplomats In Their Penthouse Suite For A Bargain At $3,500* A Night

Yes $3,500 (*Average cost) a night is a good amount for a typical hotel room but not for a 2,000 square foot multi-level penthouse suite with 3 large bedrooms, 3 living rooms, 3 indoor dining areas, an outdoor dining area, a gas fireplace, spa tubs, Bang & Olufsen sound systems throughout, and 8 televisions including 2 in bathrooms. Additional services that come along with the suite include complementary luxury SUV airport transportation, a personal concierge to provide for your specific needs, private access to their Level Nine executive lounge, complementary wet bars, twice daily housekeeping service, customized fresh flowers, a professional Nespresso coffee maker, and complementary internet access.  By now we expect you also thinking, Yes! that is a great bargain, especially in a city like Washington DC.

One of the most common promises of hotels, even those selling themselves as luxury properties, is that they will take care of so you will feel at home; something rarely achieved. At the family owned Dupont Circle we appreciated the effort to get to know individual needs so they can welcome their guests with a personal touch. The hotel, located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods with many nearby dining and cultural options to explore, has 327 luxurious guest rooms including 15 Level Nine suites. All accommodations include complementary internet, marble bathrooms with heated floors, bottles of water, in room dining, and use of the hotel's business center. The Cafe Dupont and Bar Dupont are the perfect complement to this exceptional property, popular with people both living and working in the neighborhood. We also appreciated the innovative design of their 9,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces, designed to very flexible and to be an extension of warmth of their bar and dining rooms rather than typical cold spaces.

The Dupont Circle Hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Metrorail Dupont Circle Station, minutes from Amtrak's Union Station. We recommend the less than 10 minute walk to see the nearby Phillips Collection with an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art that includes works by Renoir, Rothko, Picasso, and O'Keeffe. Also recommended is a visit to the Newseum, a museum dedicated to telling history as seen through news stories in a highly engaging interactive way. We were most impressed with the exhibits on the Berlin Wall, First Amendment Rights, and Pulitzer Prize Photos. We were also very pleased with the Newseum's restaurant, TheSource by Wolfgang Puck, with its creative and flavorful presentations.   Also within a 10 minute drive are all of Washington's major tourist sites and monuments.
