The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) has officially announced the theme for the 2027 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, and it is shaping up to be a true celebration of nature as a muse. Set to take place from March 13 through March 21, 2027, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the nation's largest and longest-running horticultural event will return with the striking theme: "ICONIC".
What Does "ICONIC" Mean for 2027?
The "ICONIC" theme will explore the profound and enduring ways that gardens and plants have influenced creative expression across centuries. From inspiring world-renowned art, literature, and film to shaping trends in fashion, food, and perfume, the 2027 show will spotlight the creative forces sparked by the natural world. This bold theme also coincides with a monumental milestone: celebrating 200 years of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
A First for the Show: The Pennsylvania Public Gardens Showcase
One of the most anticipated new features for 2027 is the Pennsylvania Public Gardens Showcase. Reflecting the Philadelphia region's distinction as "America’s Garden Capital," the showcase will bring together five of the state's most prestigious public gardens under one roof. Guests will be able to experience the breathtaking work of Chanticleer Garden, Longwood Gardens, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, and Penn State University’s arboretum standing side-by-side in a spectacular display of Pennsylvania's botanical heritage.
What Else to Expect
With more than 30 major exhibitors, visitors can look forward to the spectacular, immersive floral showstoppers the event is famous for. But the beauty doesn't stop at viewing:
- Flowers After Hours: Stylin' & Wildin': The popular after-hours event returns, running from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear animal prints or tropical-inspired outfits for a night of music, dancing, cocktails, and entertainment.
- Kids Cocoon: An interactive space offering hands-on activities focused on plants, nature, and gardening to spark curiosity in younger guests.
- Competitions & Shopping: The show will feature its world-renowned botanical art and floral competitions, alongside a marketplace selling plants, gardening supplies, and unique gifts.
