Switzerland Boasts Having The Most Expensive Ski Resort In Europe

The Verbier resort, located in southwestern Switzerland, is the most expensive ski resort in Europe, according to a new survey conducted by French travel website allovoyages.fr.

The survey compared all main European resorts based on their cost of lodging. Specifically, the survey established for each resort the amount guests will have to spend to stay in the least expensive double room, on average, during the months of February and March 2015.

With an average rate of 283 euros per night, the Verbier resort leads the rankings. Slightly less expensive is St. Anton am Arlberg, located in the Austrian state of Tyrol. An average overnight price tag of 279 euros puts this resort solidly in the survey’s second position. France's Méribel rounds out the Top 3 with an average nightly rate of 278 euros for the least expensive double room.

The Top 10 contains four more resorts in France. As is Méribel, all of these pricey French ski resorts are located in the Savoie region. The final three spots in the Top 10 go to three additional Austrian resorts. The famous St. Moritz resort ranks 11th most expensive in Europe with an average overnight price of 223 euros.

The following table shows the 10 most expensive ski resorts in Europe. The rates indicated reflect the average rate for the least expensive double room during the months of February and March 2015.
