Today, travel authority Lonely Planet released its list of the 10 best places to visit in the United States in 2016, and Philadelphia, the country’s first and only World Heritage City, ranked #1 on the list, ahead of Alaska; San Antonio, Texas; and Yellowstone National Park.
Philadelphia is a thriving metropolis and clearly we Philadelphians are not the only to have noticed.
Philadelphia, the country’s first and only World Heritage City, ranked #1 on Lonely Planet’s list of the 10 best places to visit in the United States in 2016.
The article, which is visible in print and online, encourages Philadelphia’s visitors to go beyond the clichés — though, no doubt, cheesesteaks are delicious — and explore the city’s deep history, thriving food scene and its ever-evolving neighborhoods.
Now in its sixth year, Lonely Planet’s Best in the U.S. is a curated list selected and ranked by the company’s U.S.-based editors and travel writers.
The list calls attention to the most exciting, intriguing and up-and-coming U.S. destinations worth visiting in the year ahead — like Philly!
