A federal judge in Hawaii granted the state’s request to block President Trump’s revised travel ban. Trump has said his administration will appeal.
US District Court Judge Derrick Watson has extended his restraining order against the ban, finding that the order violates the religious establishment clause in the US Constitution.
Swaying the judge’s decision was the remark made by Trump while he was campaigning for President of the United States when he said, “I think Islam hates us,” and what he also said in a later interview that the Muslim ban has morphed into extreme vetting.
The judge said that the State of Hawaii had shown there would be damages to its tourism industry, including to its universities and overall economy.
