A Century of Inspiration and Discovery Old Masters Now: Celebrating the Johnson Collection Opens November 3 In 1917, the most famous lawyer of his day left his astonishing trove of European art to the city of Philadelphia. One hundred years later, we’re taking a new look at one of this country’s most remarkable collections. Encounter treasures by the likes of Botticelli, Bosch, Titian, Rembrandt, and Monet—and see how art historians keep making new discoveries about the collection. Drawings The Artist, the Nude, and the Studio: Figure Drawings in Context A selection of works celebrating the human figure, from the virtuoso precision of Old Masters to more abstract investigations by artists like Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, and Diego Rivera. Ceramics Renaissance Revival Get a closer look at ceramics and other decorative objects that reflect the European vogue for the Renaissance in the 1800s. Included are works that were shown in Philadelphia at the 1876 World’s Fair. American Art The Art of the Peales Delight in our unparalleled collection of works by America’s first artistic dynasty, the Peale family. In this selection, see how the Peales captured family life, documented important figures of the day, and established the American still-life tradition. See all current exhibitions. Final Fridays + Philadelphia Assembled AfroFuturist Affair Costume Ball October 27, 5:00–8:45 p.m. A celebration of AfroFuturist and Black speculative music, design, art, and creativity. Come dressed to impress in your best sci-fi and AfroFuturist fashions for a night of imagination, art, and activism.  This evening has been envisioned by Black Quantum Futurism (Camae Ayewa and Rasheedah Phillips) and is presented as part of Philadelphia Assembled.
