The critically acclaimed
Léger: Modern Art and the Metropolis is now in its final weeks at the
Philadelphia Museum of Art. If you saw the exhibition and loved it, we hope you will remind your audiences that it is closing soon,
on Sunday, January 5, 2014. If you haven’t seen it, the holiday season is a wonderful time to visit! In the meantime, below is a link to a virtual tour of the galleries with curator Anna Vallye, in which she describes how Léger and his Paris-based contemporaries - Picasso, Picabia, Le Corbusier, and others - drew inspiration from the modern city to create a new way of expressing urban life, embracing architecture, advertising, theater, public spaces, and even cinema.
The Museum is a wonderful place to bring family and friends throughout this festive time, with an array of programs ranging from carolers to a Mistletoe Hop - that complement the collections filling more than 200 galleries. Bear in mind also that the Museum has four exceptional hotel partners - The Alexander Inn, the Four Seasons, The Inn at Penn, and The Rittenhouse Hotel - each one offering attractive packages with tickets to the
Léger exhibition.
