For passengers, this means a reliable connection that doesn't drop when you leave mainland airspace. According to United, the onboard experience will mimic your home internet, allowing travelers to do things previously impossible on an overseas flight:

When Will Your Next Flight Have Starlink?
United isn’t dragging its feet on this rollout. The airline already has over 400 Starlink-equipped planes in service, with aggressive plans to scale up significantly over the next year:
- By the End of 2026: United expects to have close to 1,000 Starlink-equipped aircraft in the sky, including nearly 60 of its international widebody jets.
- By Summer 2027: The airline plans to have its entire widebody fleet fully outfitted with Starlink.
Initially, international travelers can expect to spot Starlink-enabled Boeing 777-200 aircraft servicing routes between major United hubs—including Newark, Washington D.C., Houston, and San Francisco—and top global hubs like London, Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo.
How to Access the New Free Wi-Fi
Unlike other carriers that hide premium internet speeds behind a hefty paywall, United is keeping this high-speed access free for all MileagePlus members.
