Anguilla will hold the Fourth Annual Anguilla Culinary Experience (ACE) from April 30th to May 3rd, 2025. Anguilla's only destination-wide food and wine festival, ACE showcases Anguilla's bountiful seafood and indigenous ingredients. Local and international culinary talent join foodies from around the world at the island's award-winning resorts, private villas, and bespoke restaurants. A portion of the Epicurean festival's proceeds is donated yearly to fund educational programming for the island's next generation of culinary and hospitality professionals. ACE 2025 Platinum Partner Malliouhana will host the festival's signature opening night party on Wednesday, April 30th at the luxury resort's cliff-top Bar Soleil. ACE event tickets can be purchased on the Anguilla Culinary Experience website in mid-November.
"Dining at Malliouhana has never been better, and we're thrilled to host Anguilla Culinary Experience 2025's opening night. Overlooking the iconic two-tiered infinity pool and Meads Bay, it's the perfect setting to showcase our 'Culinary Dream Team' – and Wine Spectator Award-winning wine collection – celebrating gastronomic heritage and new generations of local culinary talent," said Malliouhana Managing Director Logan Miller.
During the four flavor-filled days, ACE goers can immerse themselves in the island's rich culinary traditions and enjoy seaside parties, collaborative chef dinners, beach barbeque, wine tastings, live music, mixology demonstrations, cooking classes, mystery basket competitions, a rum crawl, restaurant specials and more. There is plenty of downtime to relax on Anguilla's 33 pristine beaches and explore the friendly island's natural beauty and tranquil waters.
"The Anguilla Culinary Experience is more than just exceptional food, it's a chance to connect. It's chefs exchanging ideas and people from around the world sharing a table. Most importantly, it's giving our financial support so Anguilla's youth can pursue their dreams," said festival co-founder and Villa Alegria owner Wendy Freeman. "It has been thrilling to watch ACE grow and evolve and we look forward to building on these relationships for years to come."
This past May, the most recent ACE abounded with good company and delicious cuisine. Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club hosted a grand culinary tour of all six of its restaurants at D Richard's Steakhouse, including a walk-in dessert box and a paella station. Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel presented a barefoot beach dinner on Maundays Bay, while Four Seasons Anguilla brought Caribbean flavors to life at Bamboo Bar & Grill. Jacala Beach Restaurant partnered with Grands Vins de France and The Duckhorn Portfolio for an evening of Napa Valley wines, French fare and Caribbean flair. Guests at Savi Beach Club enjoyed dinner, a comedian and live music before joining a cabaret troupe on the dance floor. Guest Chef Zachary Engel, James Beard Award-winner and co-owner of Chicago's Michelin-starred Galit, presented a collaborative tasting menu with Chef Carrie Bogar at Veya and again at Villa Alegria. Chef brothers Xavier Rochat of Anguilla and Guest Chef Yannick Rochat, sous chef at Saison by Mauro Colagreco at Raffles London at The OWO, featured indigenous flavors at a rooftop cocktail hour and oceanfront dinner at Altamer with Cape Air. At Malliouhana, guests indulged in a Rum & Chocolate Tasting experience and learned to make rum punch with a master mixologist. Anguilla Great House and NCBA hosted the closing beach barbeque where Chef Raven James Bautista of Mirabelle's and Mixologist Alvarado Gumbs of Veya took home first place in the mystery basket cooking and bartending battles. Anguilla's Quest Experiences partnered with JetSetting Families to chauffeur guests in open-air Mokes on a beach bar rum crawl.
"We are excited to welcome back visitors and culinary enthusiasts for the 2025 Anguilla Culinary Experience (ACE). The ongoing success of ACE reinforces the island's legacy as a foodie's paradise and validates Anguilla being voted the Caribbean's Leading Culinary Destination 2024 at this year's World Travel Awards. This festival not only celebrates our rich gastronomic heritage and the incredible talent of local and international chefs, but it also helps shape the future by supporting the next generation of Anguilla's culinary and hospitality professionals. We look forward to another unforgettable celebration of flavor, culture, and community," said Anguilla Tourist Board's (ATB) Director of Tourism, Mrs. Stacey Liburd.

Why The Caribbean Is One Of The World’s Fastest Growing Destinations
![]() | |||
![]() | |||
| |||
It’s no surprise that the Caribbean is a highly sought-after destination for leisure travelers, with its white sandy beaches, eclectic cuisine and cultural attractions spanning thousands of islands. What’s surprising is just how popular the Caribbean is becoming. Arrivals to the Caribbean grew faster than the global growth rate in 2015, and travel to the region grew in record-breaking fashion, with a seven percent increase in international trips for a total of 28.7 million visitors last year. 2015 was also the first year in recent history that the Caribbean outpaced all other major global regions in growth according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO); the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) also reported that money spent by foreign visitors to the region grew by 5.9%, well above the global average of 2.4%. Several factors resulted in the record breaking numbers. Collapsing global oil prices, an increase in flights to many Caribbean destinations, economic recovery in main markets, and the strengthening U.S. dollar allowed more Americans to enjoy Caribbean luxury. And new Resonance research on the wealthiest American travelers - the top 1% and 5% - also shows that the Caribbean is now one of their most preferred destinations. For the Resonance 2016 U.S. Luxury Travel Report we interviewed 1,667 U.S. travelers in the top one and five percent (household income of at least $200k or net worth of $2 million+). We found that 50 percent of the top one percent and 47 percent of the top five percent plan to travel to the Caribbean in the coming 12-24 months, compared to just 33 percent of all U.S. travelers. ![]() One of the reasons we think the Caribbean is so popular with the affluent is that it seems to mostly satisfy their three most important criteria when choosing a vacation destination: safety, favorable climate and easy access by commercial flights. ![]()
NEW LUXURY DEVELOPMENTS
The growth is sparking a spate of new hotel development, particularly in the luxury segment, with destinations eager to attract this lucrative clientele.
In the Dominican Republic, Amanera, Aman Resorts’ newest property, is a series of contemporary casitas perched on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Playa Grande Beach on the Dominican’s unspoiled north coast. Opened in November 2015, and listed at an estimated $1,300 per night, Amanera brings “a whole new level of luxury to the Caribbean,” according to the Wall Street Journal. Elsewhere, all-inclusives continue to evolve. The Warwick is opening a 4-star adults-only all-inclusive on Paradise Island Bahamas, in October 2016. And in Puerto Rico – where both Zika and debt are concerns – luxury hotel development is a bright spot. The island welcomes its first all-inclusive resort in 2016 in the form of Dreams Puerto Rico Resort & Spa in Guánica, Porta Del Sol. The 250-room resort built by Apple Leisure Group subsidiary AMResorts hopes to spark future all-inclusive properties to the region. “We’re excited to enter a destination that has yet to discover the substantial benefits of the all-inclusive model,” Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group, told Caribbean Journal. The Ritz-Carlton opened its second property on Puerto Rico in 2015. Located on eight acres of pristine beachfront property in Isla Verde, Ritz-Carlton San Juan puts guests moments from both the airport and the quaint cobblestone streets of Old San Juan. It’s not only large Caribbean islands that are attracting the wealthy. Tiny Anguilla - 15,000 strong - has its own luxury developments to boast about. Longstanding Viceroy Anguilla has been recently joined by CéBlue Villas and Beach Resort, Malliouhana Resort, and the Zemi Beach House, which opened in February 2016. Anguilla manages to provide exclusivity, beautiful new hotels, and a barefoot-casual atmosphere – an ideal combination in a country that relies so heavily on tourism, ranking seventh globally for Travel and Tourism’s total contribution to GDP. Of course, the Caribbean has seen waves of hotel building booms and bust in the past. But with interest in visiting the region rising around the world, the relative safety of the region in comparison to other global sun destinations, and a significant portion of the world’s wealthiest travelers planning to visit the area, the sun appears likely to shine on the region’s tourism industry for years to come.
To learn more about destinations the wealthy are visiting in 2016, the brands favored by the top one percent, the activities and experiences that resonate with them and the distinct types of luxury travelers we’ve identified, you can purchase Resonance's 2016 U.S. Luxury Travel Report here.

Seaborne And JetBlue To Become Codeshare Partners Across The Caribbean
Seaborne Airlines and JetBlue Airways, the largest carrier in San Juan, have finalized terms to begin a codeshare marketing relationship, expanding upon the carriers' successful interline agreement in place since 2013. The codeshare will help facilitate improved connectivity between two of the top airlines in the Caribbean, subject to receipt of all regulatory approvals.
"We are excited to expand our partnership with JetBlue. Providing improved connectivity in our common hub of San Juan will add tremendous value to Caribbean residents, visitors, and businesses," said President and CEO of Seaborne Airlines Gary Foss. "We are honored that JetBlue, known for outstanding customer service, would recognize the same that Seaborne employees are providing throughout the Caribbean", Foss said.
Seaborne, the largest regional operator, and JetBlue, the number one carrier by flights and seats at San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, offer a combined 50 daily flights that connect 22 destinations. Seaborne will expand the JetBlue network to multiple new destinations, including Anguilla, Dominica, Guadalupe, Martinique, Nevis, St. Kitts, and Tortola. In addition, the Seaborne Airlines network will also provide JetBlue customers' access to an expanded presence throughout the United States Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic.
"Our codeshare agreement with Seaborne makes traveling to the Caribbean easier than ever, and that's the way a beach vacation or family visit should feel," said Scott Laurence, senior vice president airline planning, JetBlue. "Between JetBlue's leading position as San Juan's largest and most customer friendly airline, and Seaborne's extended local reach, this is a win-win partnership for customers and tourism."
"The Puerto Rico Tourism Company welcomes this new partnership that supports and strengthens our efforts to increase air access to the Island. This new codeshare marketing relationship between Jet Blue and Seaborne facilitates the entrance of more visitors and positively impacts the economic development in the Island", said Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.
Along with JetBlue, Seaborne operates as a codeshare partner of American Airlines and Air Europa of Spain. Seaborne offers interline connecting agreements with Delta Airlines and United Airlines as well. In aggregate, Seaborne and the carrier's partners offer non-stop service to 32 destinations in the Americas and Europe from San Juan. Seaborne's expanding network out of San Juan has helped solidify San Juan's position as the Caribbean's largest hub.

5 Eco Luxurious Hotels From The Leading Hotels Of The World
These luxury hotels and resorts around the world offer sustainable aspects that cater to the eco-conscious traveler including hydroponic farms, natural hot spring pools, and more.
CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Anguilla, creates globally-inspired menus maximizing local flavors and fresh ingredients from the Resort's comprehensive hydroponic farm, unique for a resort and the first of its kind in the Caribbean. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. The sustainable farming technique saves water through a recirculation system and drip irrigation (up to 60 to 80-percent compared to conventional outdoor farms); innovative technology recycles the drainage from the greenhouse to feed outdoor landscape plants. The 18,000 square-foot greenhouse on property was engineered to withstand winds up to 110 mph, and the crops can be grown all season, regardless of outside weather conditions. Hydroponic farm tours are available for guests to learn more about the farming technique.

Thanda Private Game Reserve: With a name that means “love” in isiZulu, Thanda Private Game Reserve, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, offers an authentically South African wildlife experience matched with sincere commitment to the Zulu culture and passionate conservation of the environment. Opened by the Zulu monarch, His Majesty King Zwelithini Goodwill kaBhekuzulu, the resort’s motto is “Proudly Conservationist. Uniquely Zulu. Incomparably Thanda.” Located in northern Zululand in KwaZulu Natal, Thanda is home to abundant wildlife, including Africa’s magnificent Big Five. Visitors spend their days on open-air game drives and bush walks; youngsters will love the Bucks & Bugs Club, designed to teach children about the natural world around them. Evenings are reserved for fine dining, enjoying wines from the well-stocked cellar, relaxing around the bonfire and star gazing. The luxurious accommodations range from the family-friendly and exclusive-use Villa iZulu to the ruggedly elegant and utterly romantic Thanda Tented Camp.

Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Costa Rica, is certified a carbon neutral company, environmentally friendly and sustainable. The resort's water is naturally heated by the Arenal Volcano, saving energy in heating water for guest use. While many hot springs resorts drill for underground wells and depend on pumps and mechanical systems to fill their pools, Tabacon's hot springs are completely natural with water flowing throughout the property, forming in-river pools, waterfalls and cascades.

Casa del Mar, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Santa Monica, CA, offers guests 100-percent organic spa treatments at its eco-friendly spa, Sea Wellness Spa (even the ceilings are made with recycled materials). For example, the H.Maloha Facial is an organic anti-aging facial from Hawaii targeting skin cells with natural bionutrient ingredients to restore skin's natural hydration and stimulate the production of new collagen. The facial will detoxify, purify and renew the skin for a more youthful complexion.

Nihiwatu joined The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. last month. The philanthropic alliance will provide the award-winning Indonesian resort access to The Leading Hotels of the World global network to further The Sumba Foundation efforts. Located on the island of Sumba in Eastern Indonesia, Nihiwatu was developed with the intent to protect and preserve the unique culture of the island and to enable local residents to support themselves and their families. Through The Sumba Foundation, all profits from the resort are fed into various community-based projects, including Access to Clean water, four malaria clinics and Malnutrition and School Lunch program. The resort also employs ninety percent of its staff from the nearby villages.

10 Best Caribbean Resorts For The 1%
If your idea of ultra-luxury includes lavish accommodations with room to spare for your private pilot, butlers who cater to your every whim, or a studio to record a jam session after you've tanned on a white sand beach, then here are 10 Caribbean hotels for you. They will impress even the most discerning traveler.
1. Musha Cay, Bahamas
If your desktop screensaver is a Caribbean version of Fantasy Island, then Musha Cay, owned by illusionist David Copperfield, is your escape come true. With over 500 acres and 25 sugary white sand beaches trimmed by tropical fauna, the Islands of Copperfield Bay in the Bahamas accommodate just 24 guests in five spectacular beach houses. Each is brimming with rich mahogany furnishings, wraparound decks, exotic antiques, and a private beach. After you sample the array of water activities, relax while your personal chef prepares the catch of the day pulled straight from the sea. You'll feel as if you've vanished into a dream.
2. Jade Mountain, St. Lucia
This architectural marvel by owner/designer Nick Troubetzkoy is so mesmerizing that you might retreat to your private sanctuary and not be seen for days. Complete with an iridescent tiled infinity pool and four-poster bed draped in billowing mosquito netting, Jade Mountain's rooms, built into the mountainside, have no fourth wall so you can gaze out at picture-perfect views of the twin peaks of St. Lucia's Pitons.
