5 Eco Luxurious Hotels From The Leading Hotels Of The World

These luxury hotels and resorts around the world offer sustainable aspects that cater to the eco-conscious traveler including hydroponic farms, natural hot spring pools, and more.

CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Anguilla, creates globally-inspired menus maximizing local flavors and fresh ingredients from the Resort's comprehensive hydroponic farm, unique for a resort and the first of its kind in the Caribbean. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. The sustainable farming technique saves water through a recirculation system and drip irrigation (up to 60 to 80-percent compared to conventional outdoor farms); innovative technology recycles the drainage from the greenhouse to feed outdoor landscape plants. The 18,000 square-foot greenhouse on property was engineered to withstand winds up to 110 mph, and the crops can be grown all season, regardless of outside weather conditions. Hydroponic farm tours are available for guests to learn more about the farming technique.

Thanda

Thanda Private Game Reserve: With a name that means “love” in isiZulu, Thanda Private Game Reserve, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, offers an authentically South African wildlife experience matched with sincere commitment to the Zulu culture and passionate conservation of the environment. The luxurious accommodations range from the family-friendly and exclusive-use Villa iZulu to the ruggedly elegant and utterly romantic Thanda Tented Camp.

Tabacon

Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Costa Rica, is certified a carbon neutral company, environmentally friendly and sustainable. The resort's water is naturally heated by the Arenal Volcano, saving energy in heating water for guest use. While many hot springs resorts drill for underground wells and depend on pumps and mechanical systems to fill their pools, Tabacon's hot springs are completely natural with water flowing throughout the property, forming in-river pools, waterfalls and cascades.

Casa del Mar

Casa del Mar, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Santa Monica, CA, offers guests 100-percent organic spa treatments at its eco-friendly spa, Sea Wellness Spa (even the ceilings are made with recycled materials). Travelore News: Leading Hotels Of The World Adds Five New Members

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. has announced five new members to its curated collection of over 400 luxury hotels, each as authentic and distinct as the location in which it is found.

In homage to the city’s seafaring history, Battery Wharf Hotel, Boston Waterfront is situated right on the Boston Harbor. Occupying property that once belonged to Paul Revere’s family, it is convenient to the financial district, the Italian North End, Freedom Trail and Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and comprises 150 guest rooms and suites, many overlooking the US Coast Guard Station and the water. Embracing its waterside location, the hotel also features a maritime museum, outdoor meeting space along the Harborwalk, and a private dock from which guests can embark on cruises, rent yachts or take advantage of the private water taxi for easy airport access. Reviving the vision of New York legend John Jacob Astor IV to create a stellar hotel in the heart of Manhattan, The Knickerbocker is the first luxury property to open in Times Square. Once known as the 42nd Street Country Club, where names like Rockefeller and Fitzgerald often gathered, in its original incarnation it was home to Enrico Caruso and George M. Cohan. Today, behind its Beaux Arts exterior, it offers 330 rooms and suites designed in soft neutral colors to serve as counterpoint to the vibrant views of the Great White Way just outside. The 7,500-square-foot rooftop bar and terrace area provides a unique vantage point for enjoying cocktails against the backdrop of the inimitable New York skyline. Rates start from USD 428 per night, single or double occupancy.

Gran Melia Rome Villa Agrippina, Rome, Italy

The classically traditional architecture of Gran Melia Rome Villa Agrippina hints at the hotel’s imperial roots – it is built on the site of the residence of Emperor Nero’s mother. Archeologic relics uncovered during the development of the property are on display, reinforcing the connection to its heritage. Surrounded by expansive, well-tended grounds, the property exudes the serenity of a resort. From its impressive location on the banks of the Tiber, the hotel presides over the cultural heart of the city, not far from Castel Sant' Angelo, the Pantheon and the Trastevere District, and only five minutes from St. Peter’s Square and Basilica. Complementing its stately exterior, the 116 rooms and suites, some with private gardens or terraces, offer a distinctly modern ambiance. Rates start at approximately USD 345 per night, single or double occupancy.
