High-tech hotel amenities such as iPads or smartphone docking stations are so last year. The latest player on the scene? Google Glass. The Stanford Court Hotel in tech-forward San Francisco is among the first to offer them to guests who specifically purchase the hotel’s Google Glass Explorer package. The package starts at $199 a night (still cheaper than buying the glasses) and includes a tutorial and instructions on how not to be a "glasshole." No word yet on what that entails.
Travelers who are curious about Google Glass can also try them at the ACME Hotel in Chicago. Rental is complimentary for guests, although there’s a three-hour time limit.
If you already have your own Glass, there are already a few travel companies getting into the app game, including Hotel Near Me, which claims to be the first hotel booking app for Google Glass. Starwood is working on its own app that will allow users to perform hotel searches and make reservations at its properties.
You might also start to see the people who book your travel wearing the tech accessory: Virgin Atlantic recently ran a six-week trial during which its agents used Glass to check in passengers—apparently it went well enough that the airline might do it again.
