Airberlin Introduces New Seats With More Legroom And USB Ports

Airberlin introduces new seats with more legroom and USB ports

BERLIN, Germany - Enjoy more comfortable seating with airberlin! Starting this spring, new seating will be introduced on short and medium-haul airberlin flights. The "Recaro BL3520" model made its debut today at the International Travel Trade Show (ITB) in Berlin.
Dr. Mark Hiller, Chief Executive Officer of Recaro Aircraft Seating, and Stefan Pichler, CEO airberlin, presented the new seat to interested trade professionals at the airberlin exhibition booth (Hall 25, Booth 110). "This has proven to be a fruitful collaboration," said the two presenters.
"Our passengers will now be able to enjoy considerably greater comfort, with three additional centimetres of legroom. The seat is ergonomically designed and the perforated leather ensures optimum air circulation," said Stefan Pichler, describing some of the advantages of the Recaro BL3520.
In addition, the new Recaro seats are equipped with USB ports, where mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets can be plugged in and charged. "The new USB-equipped seats are an important element in expanding our Internet-capable fleet. Within three years, we want all airberlin aircraft to be outfitted with Wi-Fi- making us the first German airline to offer the Internet on German and European routes," said Pichler.
airberlin and Recaro Aircraft Seating have been working together since 1979. "We are a dynamic and innovative cutting-edge team. Our seats are designed in accordance with current scientific standards. Economic factors also play an increasingly important role," says Dr. Mark Hiller. The new Recaro seat is therefore 1.5 kilogrammes lighter than the current model, which will have a positive effect on life cycle assessment and fuel use at airberlin.
The first three Airbus A321s have already been outfitted with the Recaro BL3520. This year, another 20 aircraft will follow.
