Air India is doubling down on its long-haul strategy in North America. With the launch of a new direct route between Mumbai (BOM) and Toronto (YYZ) alongside upgrades to its Delhi (DEL)–Toronto operations, the airline is introducing ultra-long-haul convenience and upgraded cabins for international travelers.

Starting October 25, 2026, Air India will launch a seasonal 3x weekly non-stop service connecting Mumbai directly with Toronto Pearson International Airport.

• Schedule: Operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays through March 26, 2027.

These Are The Airlines With The Worst Service, According To Customer Survey

A flight can be the most memorable part of someone’s vacation for many reasons-- some of which aren't always so pleasant with turbulence, lost luggage, delays, and annoying passengers.

When there's a problem, passengers usually turn to customer service representatives for help. But what happens when they hang up on you or say “I don’t know what to tell you.”

It happens more often than you think.

From crying babies to inclement weather, carriers can't control everything that happens on your flight. But the one thing they can do is try to provide excellent customer service when things don't always go as planned. That alone can significantly improve-- or worsen-- an airline’s reputation.

The following list is based on data from Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards survey and research company GetVoIP. Reviews written on many different customer sites were also taken into account.
 

• 1. United Airlines

  Forget about contacting them via email if you want to get in touch with someone from United Airlines. It's pretty hard to get a response, according to GetVoIP data. You are much better off trying calling them on the phone – the average wait time is 2 minutes and 24 seconds, but United also made the Top 3 of our list of Airlines Most Likely to Lose Your Luggage.

  The international airline is listed number 8 among carriers with the worst customer service in the Travel + Leisure survey. “I think Air India customer support is the worst I have ever seen. Practically there is no respect to customers. Nobody answers on the telephone #s provided on proprietary irregularity report. It rings several times and gets disconnected,” a review on ConsumerAffairs.com reads.

  Egypt's biggest carrier ranked seventh in the category with the worst customer service, according to Travel + Lesure. Many travelers give them low scores because of rude staff. One person wrote on AirlineRatings.com: “Nairobi front office staff are the worst customer service staff ever! They are loud, abusive, extremely rude and unprofessional. They have absolutely no communication competencies.”

• 4. Volaris Airlines

  The Mexican low-cost airline based in Santa Fe is No. 6 when it comes to bad customer service. Many passengers have written about their sub-par experiences. “I ask to [speak with] someone above, the supervisor, and they don't have no one, [did] not even give a name or phone number,” one review on AirlineRating.com reads. Most people gave the carrier just one star for client services.

  Royal Air Maroc, or RAM as it's more commonly known, is the Moroccan national carrier-- as well as the country’s largest airline. Travel + Leisure ranked it the fifth worst airline when it comes to customer service. “Still waiting for the delay report for my travel insurance company, but no answer for 2 month already. Customer service just does not give any answers to my repeated requests,” one reviewer wrote on AirlineQuality.com.

• 6. EasyJet

  People prefer this British carrier for its many cheap options. Service has improved compared to three to four years ago but a lot more needs to be done. “They need to change the website to Buyer beware and we do not provide customer service or support,” a review on ConsumerAffairs.com reads. Another says: “If you ever have to contact customer services it is a nightmare, particularly if they owe you money. Invariably they ignore emails and if they do reply they suggest you call them. Trying to call them is almost impossible without at least a 20-minute wait.”

• 7. Frontier Airlines

  The ultra-low cost carrier headquartered in Denver does not have a good reputation when it comes to dealing with passengers.  Passengers have reported waiting for 3 hours and 18 minutes on average for an email reply and for 6 minutes and 7 seconds on the phone, according to data. Frontier is also on the list of airlines likely to lose your luggage and those offering the least leg room.

"Pitch" isn't just a term used in baseball. The word is also thrown around quite a bit in air travel, where its definition is the measurement of the distance from a seat to the one behind it. The more popular, not to mention maligned, term is "legroom," and, yes, some airlines offer more of it than others. Condé Nast Traveler's rankings are not universally inclusive; only major, recognizable airlines were taken into account in our survey. Because airlines are constantly updating their cabins and fleets, the figures listed below are subject to change.

In the United States

Our previous report already named the most spacious airlines flying around the United States, and those results hold firm. The airlines in the USA with the most legroom are:

1. JetBlue: 33 inches
2. Virgin America: 32 inches
3. Southwest: 32 inches

The "big three" airlines of Delta, American Airlines, and United all average 31-inch legroom, as does Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. At the bottom, with seriously squashed legs, are Allegiant (30 inches), Frontier (28 inches) and Spirit (28 inches with no recline). Of course, upgrading ever so slightly for the "economy plus" option on these airlines changes the situation, and you're able to enjoy a few more inches for a few more dollars.

Around the World

As in the United States, 31 inches of legroom is quite standard around the world, with some notable exceptions on either end. Comparing data from searching popular routes and long-haul aircraft onRoutehappy and SeatGuru, and cross-referencing with the airline's own sites, we're happy to find that some airlines go above and beyond the minimum to provide precious extra inches. These are the international airlines with the most legroom on long-haul flights:

1. Aeromexico: 34 inches
2. South African Airways: 33.5 inches
3. Asiana: 33 inches
4. Air India: 33 inches
5. Air Tahiti Nui: 33 inches

Surprised by the winner? Don't be; Aeromexico now flies the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its lengthiest routes, including the 11-hour non-stop from Mexico City to Madrid, as well as the five-hour nonstop to New York. The airline chose to match the generous legroom of its Boeing 777s with the delivery of the new 787s, upholding their standard of offering two or more inches beyond everyone else, a difference theInternational Business Times called "positively luxurious."

As for the least legroom, three airlines stand out for squeezing passengers in space that's below the 32-to-31-inch standard, and they are: Air Berlin, Austrian Airlines, and Aeroflot, all at a measly 30 inches. Stretch those legs before boarding, during the flight, and upon arrival to keep the discomfort to a minimum, and look on the bright side—at least a new study just found that sitting for long periods actually will not kill you.

Travelore News: Air India Bringing Free Meals Back To Economy Class

NEW DELHI, India - The New Year will bring some cheer for passengers flying Air India. Come January, the airline will restart providing free meals for economy class passengers on flights of up to one hour.

The airline had decided to withdraw serving meals to flyers on flights which were up to one hour long in 2012 as a part of its cost cutting exercise. This decision is now being reviewed for various reasons including the fact that the airline has joined Star Alliance and so there has been a substantial increase in the number of international passengers flying on domestic sectors using the hub and spoke model which requires passengers to wait for long hours in the transit area before taking their connecting flight. The airline joined the 27-member global airline club in June.

With passenger traffic on its domestic routes increasing in the on-going holiday season, the airline has decided to augment capacity by inducting one Boeing 747, one Boeing 777 200 Long Range and one Boeing 777-300 Extended Range aircraft.

Generally the airline operates the Airbus 320 family of aircraft on domestic routes which can carry between 122 to 172 passengers on a single flight.

A Boeing 747 can carry 423 passengers, a B 777-200 LR can carry 238 passengers on every flight and a Boeing 777-300 ER can carry 342 passengers.

The airline also plans to use one more Boeing 787 aircraft which can carry 256 passengers on every flight.
