Another major earthquake hit close to Tonga and Samoa

After a 7.6 earthquake earlier in Samoa, at 18.00 UTC another 6.8 one was measured 66 miles ENE of Hihfo, Tonga, 132 miles SW of Apia, Samoa, or 164 miles WSW of Tafuna, American Samoa.
The good news is, so far there are no report of injury or destruction.
The eastern margin of the Australia plate is one of the most sesimically active areas of the world due to high rates of convergence between the Australia and Pacific plates. In the region of New Zealand, the 3000 km long Australia-Pacific plate boundary extends from south of Macquarie Island to the southern Kermadec Island chain. It includes an oceanic transform (the Macquarie Ridge), two oppositely verging subduction zones (Puysegur and Hikurangi), and a transpressive continental transform, the Alpine Fault through South Island, New Zealand.

Top 10 Tourism Destination Countries For Human Rights, Green Growth And Social Welfare

Top 10 tourism destination countries for human rights, green growth and social welfare


Ethical Traveler, a non-profit organization released this week its annual list of tourism destination countries that are leading to promote human rights, preserve environments and support social welfare, and at the same time maintaining an active community-based tourism industry.
In alphabetical order, the 2015 top 10 are:
1. Cape Verde
2. Chile
3. Dominica
4. Lithuania
5. Mauritius
6. Palau
7. Samoa
8. Tonga
9. Uruguay
10. Vanuatu
Vanuatu, Samoa and Tonga are this year's new entries to the list.
Evaluation sources include Freedom House, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Reporters Without Borders, UNICEF, LGBT resources and the World Bank.
Each "best ethical destination" offers opportunities to check out incredible natural beauty, enjoy great outdoor activities and have interactions with local people and cultures in a meaningful, mutually enriching way, says Ethical Traveler.
Researchers stress that just because these destinations made the list, none scored perfect marks.

The 10 Most Beautiful Pacific Islands

With more than 20,000 islands in the Pacific Ocean, visiting them all and then picking a favorite is not really an achievable aim. With some of the most beautiful sights on the planet residing on the Pacific Islands, being daunted by the sheer breadth of the islands could lead to you missing some truly awe-inspiring experiences.
Solomon Islands
Incredibly, the Solomon Islands are one of the best kept secrets in the Pacific Ocean.
