Rainforest Cruises, the operator of Amazon Discovery, is Florida-based company that is fully licensed and bonded and specialises in Amazon River cruises and riverboat tours.
Its new 43-passenger Amazon Discovery launches this month and its five-star features include gourmet dining and a spa that offers stone massages, soothing wraps and coffee-cacao scrubs.
There is also a plunge pool and open-air sun deck with cushioned chaises longues and a shaded bar, plus an air-conditioned lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows for taking in the jungle views.
Activities include an expedition along the black-waters of Tahuayo River to a spot where pink river dolphins feed, and skiff excursions into Pacaya Samiria - the largest wildlife preserve in Peru.
The cruises also visit the start of the Amazon River, where the Ucayali and Marañon Rivers merge, and there are guided jungle walks, visits to traditional villages and the chance to meet the ribereños river people whose lives revolve around the river.
On-board activities include expert talks from naturalists, Peruvian cooking classes and nightly local entertainment.
