Envisioned to perfectly blend the lifestyle of The Ritz-Carlton resorts with the casual freedom of a yachting vacation, Evrima, the first of three custom-built yachts from The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, set sail on October 15, 2022, with a voyage from Barcelona, Spain, to Nice, France, delivering highly tailored getaways for travelers seeking to wholly immerse themselves in the culture of each destination.
"We are thrilled to introduce The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and usher in an exciting new chapter for this beloved brand," said Chris Gabaldon, Senior Vice President for Luxury Brands, Marriott International. As we continue to evolve our legendary brand, we could not be more excited to give our guests the opportunity to experience The Ritz-Carlton in a new way."
Unveiling unique itineraries and immersive experiences, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection carves out an exclusive space within the industry while exemplifying the brand's forward-thinking approach to luxury hospitality. Stopping at both intimate and signature ports of call, most voyages range from 7 to 10 nights, with no two journeys alike so that guests can combine itineraries without repeating a destination. Depending on the season, Evrima visits the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Destinations along the way range from Spain's Balearic Islands and coveted havens along the French Riviera, to the aquamarine shores of Aruba and the tropical coastlines of Costa Rica. The intimate size of Evrima also allows unique access into some of the most sought-after ports of call, delivering yacht-style cruising in destinations such as Mykonos, Saint-Tropez, and St. Barts.
"The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is revolutionizing the luxury cruising industry, creating an entirely unique category designed for those in search of unmatched getaways, highly curated itineraries, insider access, and a level of personalization previously unseen in the space," commented Douglas Prothero, Chief Executive Officer for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. The specially designed yacht measures 190-meters and can accommodate up to 298 passengers. The onboard experience reflects the sublime comfort and legendary service for which The Ritz-Carlton brand is renowned, with one of the highest staff and space ratios at sea. The onboard experience reflects the sublime comfort and legendary service for which The Ritz-Carlton brand is renowned, with one of the highest staff and space ratios at sea. The design of the yacht's 149 suites is one of the many tone-setting elements. In addition to offering a high percentage of large suites, Evrima also features several innovative two-story loft suites, a unique duplex accommodation. All rooms feature a private terrace and floor to ceiling windows, resulting in some of the most airy and expansive guestrooms at sea. Cunard Cancels 4 Cruises, Delays Return Of The Queen Mary 2
Cunard Line canceled the first four scheduled trips of the Queen Mary 2 in more than a year, saying Thursday that after the long layoff during the pandemic it wants the ship’s next cruises “to be closer to home.”
The four canceled sailings had been scheduled between Nov. 14 and Dec. 10. They included a trip from Cunard’s base in Southampton, England, to New York, and a transatlantic return voyage.
Instead, the ship’s return will be delayed until Nov. 28, and its first two sailings will be short round trips from Southampton.
Cunard said the ship will arrive in New York on Dec. 20 and make its first sailing from U.S. waters two days later, going to the Caribbean. The two-day break is to allow for inspections under “the latest regulatory requirements,” said Cunard, which is owned by Miami-based Carnival Corp.
The cancellations are the latest in a series of fits and starts for the cruise industry, which has been devastated by the pandemic and struggled to meet health conditions set by the U.S. health authorities.

Silversea’s Silver Spirit First Luxury Ship To Sail With New Infection Prevention Certificate
Silversea Silver Spirit has become the first ultra-luxury cruise ship in the world to sail with a certification in infection prevention for maritime (CIP-M).
The certification was given by the DNV GL, the world’s leading classification society.
The certification of Silversea shows just how dedicated the six-star cruise line is to sanitisation and infection control on board its ships – following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The CIP-M programme is built on DNV GL Healthcare’s expertise in infection risk management.
The programme was developed using experience from over 4,000 audits in more than 640 hospitals worldwide, with experts from DNV GL Maritime’s Cruise Center in Miami and leading medical professionals tailoring the existing infection prevention programme for hospitals to meet the needs of the maritime industry.
The programme is built on a unique combination of technical maritime knowledge and infection prevention expertise. Currently, it is the most comprehensive infection prevention certification available in the maritime industry.
The three-year certification is tailored specifically to Silver Spirit, and was only awarded after a close audit of all its operations.
The audit focuses on cruise line’s Covid-19 outbreak prevention and response plan, infection prevention leadership and communication flow, medical equipment management and infection risk management processes.
Silversea president and CEO, Roberto Martinoli, said:
“We are proud to become the first ultra-luxury cruise line to gain the certification in infection prevention for maritime, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our guests, crew and the destinations we visit.”
“Informed by the work of the Royal Caribbean Group’s Healthy Sail Panel, we are working hard to enhance our already exceptional sanitation procedures on board.
“Beginning with Silver Spirit, we will continue to work with DNV GL to gain certification across the rest of our fleet to provide the safest possible conditions for our healthy return to sailing, when the time is right to do so.”
Silversea is currently still in operation, having launched its newest ship Silver Moon this month.
