New Shake Shack Burger Looks Delicious, Helps Children

The Carbonara Burger, topped with bacon, pecorino cheese, black pepper, and a sunny-side up egg.
Some would argue that you really can't improve on a tasty Shake Shack burger, especially if it comes with one of those tasty frozen-custard shakes. But the genius team behind the burger joint that made it acceptable to spend hours in line for lunch has decided that, yes indeed, they can improve on the burger experience here. How? By collaborating with other spectacular chefs.

Shake Shack Culinary Director Mark Rosati and Philadelphia chef Marc Vetri
The first honor goes to Philadelphia's Marc Vetri, the culinary force behind Philly's OsteriaVetriAmis restaurants and The Vetri Foundation, which teaches children about healthy living and healthy eating. In honor of the foundation's upcoming Great Chefs Event on June 10, Vetri worked with Shake Shack Culinary Director Mark Rosati to create the Carbonara Burger, which features Shake Shack’s all natural Pat LaFriedaexclusive blend burger topped with bacon, pecorino cheese, black pepper, and a sunny-side up egg. In a statement Vetri explained the inspiration for the sandwich: “When Mark Rosati approached me about collaborating on a special Shake Shack burger, one of the first Italian dishes I was inspired by for this project was Carbonara. It’s a classic Italian dish that is simple and has great flavor."
The burger will be available at the Philadelphia area's three Shake Shack outposts (Center City, University City, and King of Prussia) from June 6 to 15 and will cost $6.75; a dollar from each sale will go to The Vetri Foundation.
