The Foreign Office have now lifted their advice on Kenya and it really does remain the absolute best place for game viewing. Kenya has some of the most varied habitats and landscapes in all of Africa and much of this is literally covered in wildlife – many of the areas you visit are absolutely teeming with game and you will see something in every direction. Kenya is also the only safari destination where one can have a truly authentic and natural cultural experience due to the fact that the tribal existence still very much lives on here. Here we present you with the five most luxurious suites in Kenya:
Saruni Samburu is a magical place built on top of a large flat rock with the most stunning views of the Samburu sacred mountain Ololokwe. The suites are absolutely enormous and are done beautifully, with very tasteful décor in beautiful African colours. Ol Donyo Lodge is made up of some of the most quirky and original suites, all of which have private plunge pools. They are tastefully decorated but have a unique design which even includes a star bed on top of every room for those dry nights you’d like to admire the stars. Here you also have views of Kilimanjaro from your room and some of the biggest tuskers reside here.
The Masai Mara is world famous for its abundance of predators and Mara Plains is located in an area where you will often see great action from your vast tented suite. The luxury tented rooms here are huge and you will want for nothing – this private area of the Mara has very few other vehicles and is fantastic for wildlife and culture. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to Mara Plains which is one of Africa’s most exceptional safari camps.
Cottar’s Camp is one of the most famous camps in all of Africa and it’s 1920s décor is so romantic you will certainly never want to leave. A stay here is enchanting and the concession it is located in is so private that you can walk, take night drives and generally enjoy being out in the bush in whichever capacity you feel you’d like to. Cottars has so much charm to it that it has a vast number of repeat clients which we think says it all.
Elsa’s Kopje is located nearby to George Adamson’s grave and the area where Elsa the lion was released. Set high up on a rocky outcrop this lodge is extremely luxurious – it’s suite includes an outdoor bathtub and it’s private house has two bedrooms and a private pool. Game viewing here is very exclusive and you won’t see another soul.
