Hilton Worldwide today announced Boulders Resort & Spa has joined the Curio - A Collection by Hilton portfolio. Curio is a global brand of distinctive upper upscale and luxury hotels, hand-picked for travelers who seek local discovery and authentic experiences.

"We're thrilled to welcome such an iconic property to the expanding Curio portfolio," said Bill Fortier, senior vice president, development - Americas, Hilton Worldwide. "Boulders Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton will add an additional layer of prestige to the collection as the brand continues to take shape and define itself in 2015."
The property will undergo a significant remodeling and upgrade by award-winning design firm DiLEONARDO. On 1,300 acres in the lush Sonoran Desert foothills north of Scottsdale, Arizona, Boulders Resort & Spa is an extraordinary desert hideaway surrounded by 12 million-year-old boulder formations that dot the landscape.
"With surrounding terrain and plant life left virtually untouched to allow indigenous flora and wildlife to prosper, Boulders Resort & Spa is a shining example of Curio's mission to connect with local communities and environments in a complementary yet unobtrusive way," said Dianna Vaughan, global head, Curio - A Collection by Hilton. "This hotel stands out as an authentic, independent and remarkable property that lends itself to joining the exclusive Curio collection."

From its world-class golf courses, service and cuisine to the legendary spa, Boulders Resort & Spa draws upon the natural splendor of the landscape to create an awe-inspiring retreat experience.  Its luxurious guest casitas, and one-, two-, and three-bedroom Villa and Hacienda accommodations provide breathtaking views and a distinctive sense of place.  Additionally, a five-bedroom, 5,000 square foot Villa Retreat provides the ultimate in elite luxury experience.  The resort also offers two 18-hole Jay Morrish-designed championship golf courses, a terraced tennis garden, four swimming pools, six restaurants, a 33,000 sq. ft. spa, fitness center and an array of outdoor adventure activities.
As part of the renovations, to be completed this fall, the property will offer significantly upgraded casitas, rooms and bathrooms, as well as a remodeled lobby bar, front desk, and Palo Verde restaurant. There will also be 5,200 square feet of new meeting space added to the main lodge. The property's characteristic southwestern interiors include regional art by renowned artists, while glass skylights, massive entry doors crafted from hand-rubbed woods and large wood-burning fireplaces throughout provide a distinctive sense of place and ambiance.

The new design approach by DiLEONARDO will reflect Arizona's Sonoran Desert, with its old Spanish-influenced adobe style architecture, to rejuvenate a relaxed resort environment and embrace indigenous inspirations of the Old West. Scale, pattern and colors from the Native American heritage influence the architectural detailing, carpet patterns and rich color story.

As members of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, all Curio hotels, including The Boulders Resort & Spa, participate in Hilton HHonors®, the only hotel loyalty program that allows members to earn both Points and Miles on the same stay and no blackout dates on reward stays. In addition, HHonors members can use Points to purchase unique experience rewards, premium merchandise, make charitable contributions and more.
