Saudi Crown Prince MBS Plans To Build A $4 Billion Bridge Over The Red Sea To Connect His Futuristic Neom City With Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is charting his own path, and one of his most audacious milestones is the Red Sea Bridge that will connect Egypt and Saudi Arabia. With a $4 billion budget, the monumental 32-kilometer span, popularly dubbed the Moses Bridge, will link Ras Al Sheikh Hamid in Saudi Arabia to Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt by way of Tiran Island.

Now in its advanced planning phase, the transcontinental link will create a direct land crossing between the two nations, stitching two pivotal centers of the Arab world together. On the Saudi side, the bridge will plug directly into NEOM, the kingdom’s $500 billion flagship development, while the Egyptian approach will connect to the New Administrative Capital, located 45 kilometers east of Cairo, according to Parametric Architecture.

As the first project of its kind in the Red Sea, the causeway aligns with Vision 2030, promising to accelerate tourism, infrastructure growth, and economic diversification while reshaping regional geopolitics. Officials estimate the crossing could quadruple annual Saudi tourist visits to Egypt, from about 300,000 to more than 1.2 million, by making road trips to Sinai’s resorts effortless.

At highway speeds, the drive between the two countries could drop to roughly 30 minutes, a dramatic improvement over current ferry routes. Speaking to Reuters, Egypt’s transport minister, Kamel al-Wazir, said, “We are ready to implement it at any time, whether as a bridge or a tunnel.” The Moses Bridge is poised to stand as a testament to cultural, architectural, and engineering prowess.

Summer 2025 In Stuttgart For Music And Wine Festivals

Nestled in the wine hills of the Württemberg wine region, Stuttgart is home to major international companies in the automobile and technology industries and yet it’s the festivals and the people that give the city its lively vibe. These annual celebrations set the mood and capture the spirit of Stuttgart's local culture. The festivals are as important to locals as they are fun for tourists, giving visitors insights into Stuttgart’s collective character and temperament. Stuttgarters work hard but they also know how to enjoy life.
Enjoying the wine festival on the Palace Square or Schlossplatz,_c_Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH

Jazz Festival

Coming up very soon is Stuttgart’s JazzOpen from July 2 to 13 this year featuring some of the top jazz musicians in the world. Started in 1994, the JazzOpen has been building its presence on the world’s jazz stage for years and gaining recognition and traction. It has developed into one of Europe's top 3 festivals for jazz with artists including Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Santana, David Gilmour, Diana Krall, Parov Stelar, Christina Aguilera, Jamie Cullum, Joss Stone, Grace Jones and Herbie Hancock. Importantly, it is also one of the best ways to experience Stuttgart as the performances take place in iconic city centers, including the old and new Palace Squares and other open air stages as well as jazz clubs. Included in the festvials is a competition for young bands from Baden-Wuerttemberg and they can apply to be included in the competition’s line up.

Wine Festival

Stuttgart's vineyards stretch right into the heart of the city, making Stuttgart the only German metropolis with its own municipal wine estate. Wine has been grown here ever since Roman times. The wines owe their excellent quality to the first-class soil, the favorable climate, and the expertise that has accumulated over the centuries.

This year, the Stuttgart Wine Festival, will be held from August 21st to September 6th in the city center. The cozy wine booths are set up in the Schiller Square with around 30 hosts serving local wines, accompanied by Swabian specialities: Käsespätzle (cheesy noodles), Maultaschen (filled pasta), Schupfnudeln (potato noodles) with sauerkraut, and sweet treats. Up-and-coming young wine growers – some in the third generation – will present their wines. https://www.stuttgarter-weindorf.de/en

Beer Festival – Wasen Stuttgart

From September 26th to October 12th, the Wasen Stuttgart, takes place on a 75-acre festival site on the banks of the Neckar. This is Baden-Württemberg's biggest and most important festival attracting some four million visitors annually to the state capital.

The original harvest festival has long since developed into a popular public celebration with seven beer tents, the historic wine tent and the Alpine Village. Round about the Fruit Column, the traditional festival's historic symbol, some 320 showmen, hosts and stallholders, rides and rollercoasters entertain visitors. In the festival tents, hearty dishes such as grilled knuckle of pork, fried steak or Swabian "Maultaschen" (filled pasta) are served to go with the mugs of beer.

The other major annual festivals are the Christmas Markets and Shining Lights in Stuttgart and in the nearby towns of Esslingen and Ludwigsburg and we will have lots to tell you about these festivals in the coming months.

Getting to Stuttgart: Planes, Trains and Automobile

Stuttgart is within three to five hours or less by direct train or car ride from Frankfurt, Paris, and Zürich. It is the hub of a very accessible network of train and automobile routes. The Stuttgart Airport is a pleasant experience. Once you are in Stuttgart, you can use your StuttCard for all of the public transportation including the buses and the regional trains that will take you within minutes into the wine hills or Ludwigsburg and Esslingen.

Travelore News: Paris Overtourism Heats Up At Notre Dame And The Louvre

The latest symbols of overtourism are two iconic Paris attractions known worldwide. Notre Dame Cathedral has been overwhelmed by visitors since reopening after a destructive fire and the Louvre museum, home of the “Mona Lisa,” is a crumbling gilded palace, forced to close its doors due to crowds.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Since the December 2024 re-opening of Notre Dame Cathedral, the visitor experience has changed. While always a popular attraction for visitors to Paris, visits were more manageable prior to the fire of 2019.

Crowds have grown considerably, creating long lines of people standing in the forecourt outside the entrance. The average number of daily visitors to Notre Dame currently stands at 29,000, a nearly 20% increase since the re-opening. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, wait times range from 15 minutes to more than two hours.

Strategies for shortening wait time include going first thing in the morning or booking a 30-minute free tour with a timed entry ticket reservation online or via the app. Slots for party sizes up to six people are only available a few hours prior to entry and sell out quickly. Opening times at Notre Dame are normally 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and until 10 p.m. on Thursdays. The Saturday and Sunday hours are 8:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Three daily masses are celebrated at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Louvre Museum

At Musée du Louvre, the world’s most-visited museum, the doors were shuttered on at least one day last week, prompted by exhausted staff refusing to take up their positions.

CNN reports, “The Louvre welcomed 8.7 million visitors last year — more than double what its infrastructure was designed to accommodate. Even with a daily cap of 30,000, staff say the experience has become a test of endurance, with too few rest areas, limited bathrooms, and summer heat magnified by the pyramid’s greenhouse effect.”

“Roughly 20,000 people a day squeeze into the Salle des États, the museum’s largest room, just to snap a selfie with Leonardo da Vinci’s enigmatic woman behind protective glass.”

Tickets are required. Tours ae available in Engish, French, Spanish, and Italian. The Louvre hours are Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Extended hours to 9 p.m. are on Wednesday and Friday. Ticket prices are 22 euros, with free admission offered with proof of I.D. to everyone under age 18 and those under age 26 as a resident of the EEA (EU countries plus Norway, Iceland, and Lichtenstein). Additional free admssions are extended to disabled persons plus one, certain art instructors, and journalists with required credentials. Free admission to all is offered on the first Friday of the month after 6 p.m., except during July and August.

Spaceship Earth Closes After 42 Years At EPCOT

EPCOT’s 42-year-old Spaceship Earth ride shut down last week.

Spaceship Earth opened alongside EPCOT on October 1, 1982. The geodesic sphere immediately became the second Central Florida Disney park’s icon, featured in countless photographs, videos, and merchandise items over the last four decades.

Inside what many guests lovingly call the “EPCOT ball,” a slow-moving dark ride takes guests on a journey from the early days of humanity through centuries of innovation that led us to where we are today. When the omnimover reverses, an interactive digital screen appears, inviting guests to build their own futures through a series of multiple-choice questions.

Like any future-focused attraction, Spaceship Earth has faced criticism for being outdated, with the most recent update in 2007. In 2019, Walt Disney Imagineering announced plans for another update as part of the Future World reimagining at EPCOT.

However, the update was indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Walt Disney World Resort did keep its promise to build an adults-only Spaceship Earth-themed lounge, GEO-82. It opened earlier this month.

Americans Will Need To Apply For Permission To Visit Another Major Tourist Hotspot, South Africa

Ask any American who's been to the U.K., South Korea, or even Thailand recently. Now, it's South Africa's turn to jump on the bandwagon.

Starting this fall, Americans will no longer be able to land in the popular African country passport-in-hand only, unless they have been pre-approved for travel; they shouldn't even bother getting to the airport in the first place, as they will be denied boarding.

ETAs Will Be Mandatory For Americans Visiting South Africa From The Fall

It's a tricky world to navigate as an American.

If you think the era of travel restrictions and complicated border rules is past us, now that COVID is half a decade old, think again: ETAs are on the rise, and they seem to be here to stay.

First introduced by nations like Australia and New Zealand to strengthen their border control and ensure a stricter screening of foreign arrivals.

It has since then expanded to countries like the United Kingdom, South Korea, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, and soon enough, it will be introduced in Japan, and become widespread across much of Europe once the European Union's own version of an ETA, the long-delayed ETIAS, rolls out.

Americans wouldn't actually know unless they're very travel savvy, but even the United States and Canada have Electronic Travel Authorization systems in place—but then again, you're exempt from both as a U.S. passport holder.

The point is that ETAs have been sneakily becoming the norm rather than the exception for many years now, so it was only a matter of time before South Africa brought them in.

Easier Entry Into South Africa?

As confirmed by the South African Minister of Home Affairs, Leon Schreiber, the South African ETA will go live in September 2025. It will apply to all current visa-exempt travelers, including Americans, who have been able to enter South Africa visa-free or with an e-visa up until now.

In Mr Schreiber's words, the South African ETA is designed to reduce long waiting times at the border, document fraud, alleviate ‘administrative burdens', and ‘digitize' visa and entry/exit processes.

Similar to the visa-waiver agreement signed between the United States and South Africa, the ETA will authorize Americans to stay for up to 90 days and become a mandatory requirement.

Unless you have applied for an ETA and hold a valid travel permit, you will no longer be authorized to embark a South Africa-bound flight or cross the South African border.

How Will The South African ETA Work?

During their application for a South African ETA, Americans will be expected to fill out an online questionnaire, upload their passport information, and answer a series of questions about their personal lives and travel details.

ETA forms typically take 5-10 minutes to complete, and you're usually required to pay a processing fee at the end.

They are then processed online, and in most cases, you will receive approval directly from the email address you provided when applying.

Regrettably, at this stage, we have no information regarding the process itself, as the platform has not been released, nor processing fees, though ETAs typically cost between $5 and $23, depending on the country.

The question of validity has not been addressed, either: will the South African ETA be valid for a single entry? Will it be valid for multiple entries over a period of 2–5 years, like other ETAs currently available in the market?

We will be sure to report back as soon as those details are known.

Will It Replace The Current e-Visa?

South African authorities have yet to clarify whether the new system will completely replace the current e-Visa system, open to citizens of 30 countries (excluding the United States).

It is unclear whether the current e-Visa, introduced back in 2019, and the soon-to-be-launched ETA will be merged, or whether they'll stay separate, with distinct application processes and fees.

As the minister has confirmed, we do know that it will be fully issued digitally and can be stored in an applicant's smartphone wallet, right next to their bank cards and flight tickets.

As he described, it will include a QR code that can be easily flashed for verification by both check-in staff at airport counters, and later by border officers upon landing at one of South Africa's international airports.

Traveling abroad in the near future? Don't let these ever-changing entry requirements catch you by surprise: check out our new TOP Checker, with real-time updates for visa policies traveling to every country in the world.

Travelore Tips: TSA Bans 7 Food Items Including Popular Snacks

Packing snacks for your flight can be a great way to cut costs and avoid airport food—but not all of them will pass through TSA.

Bringing your own snacks on a flight is a smart way to save money and stay full—but not everything in your bag will make it through TSA. Some foods that seem fine, like dips or spreads, don’t meet the carry-on rules and could get tossed at security delaying your travels.

TSA limits liquids, gels, and anything spreadable to 3.4 ounces or less in carry-on bags. That includes things like hummus, peanut butter, and yogurt. If you're bringing any of those, make sure the container is small enough or plan to pack it in your checked luggage. Here are some snacks to double-check before you fly.

Meanwhile, TSA isn't only banning snacks, they have also banned seven travel essentials.

Creamy Cheeses

Cheeses like Brie or anything spreadable are limited. If it’s more than 3.4 ounces, TSA will make you toss it.

Honey

If it’s over 3.4 ounces and in your carry-on, you’ll have to leave it behind.

Hummus

Hummus and pretzels are great for the road, but hummus is considered a liquid. Most single-serve packs are too big, so check the label before packing.

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter won't get through security unless it’s in a container under 3.4 ounces.

Salsa

Salsa is another one that’s considered a liquid. Anything over 3.4 ounces needs to go in your checked bag.

Pudding

TSA counts pudding as a liquid. Some snack cups sneak in under the limit, but others—like KozyShack—are too big.

Yogurt

Yogurt is also on the list. A lot of pouches or cups are just over the limit, so they’ll likely get flagged at security.

Bottom line- if you're packing snacks for your flight, double check the size and type before tossing them in your carry-on. Anything creamy, spreadable, or gel-like needs to be 3.4 ounces or less or it won’t make it past security.

New Direct Flight From Los Angeles International To Tepic Unlocks Gateway To Treasures of Nayarit

The state of Nayarit is thrilled to announce a new direct flight with Volaris Airlines connecting Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Riviera Nayarit International Airport (TPQ), ushering in an exciting new era of travel for visitors eager to discover the cultural, culinary, and natural treasures of inland and coastal Nayarit. This brand-new route is more than just a convenient travel option. It’s a gateway to an entirely different side of Mexico.

Volaris Airlines will operate direct flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to the Riviera Nayarit International Airport (TPQ) three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flights depart LAX at 11:37 a.m., arriving in Tepic at 2:27 p.m. Return flights leave TPQ at 6:50 p.m., landing back in Los Angeles at 9:48 p.m.

Often overshadowed by the more visited Riviera Nayarit beach destinations, like Nuevo Nayarit, Punta Mita, and Sayulita, the interior of the state offers a completely different experience. Tepic, Nayarit’s capital city, is a launchpad for adventures that blend the historic, the mystical, and the delicious. Now, with this direct connection from Los Angeles, travelers can skip the crowds and dive straight into a region teeming with Magical Towns, volcanic lakes, ancient traditions, and pristine coastline.

A New Kind of Mexican Getaway

From Tepic, travelers are within striking distance of some of Nayarit’s most fascinating destinations. In just 30 minutes, you can find yourself watching the waves roll in at Matanchen Bay or sipping coffee in the sleepy seaside village of Aticama. A scenic 40-minute drive takes you to the crater lake of Santa María del Oro, a sparkling turquoise gem perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply unwinding by the water.

History buffs and culture lovers can explore the cobblestone streets of Compostela and Jala, both designated Pueblos Mágicos for their cultural richness and well-preserved heritage. For a more off-the-beaten-path adventure, visit Mexcaltitán, the mystical island town thought to be the legendary Aztlán, birthplace of the Aztecs. Just 90 minutes from Tepic, this “Venice of Mexico” offers a surreal, waterbound village experience that’s unlike anything else in the country.

Nature enthusiasts can head to Presa Aguamilpa, just 50 minutes from the capital, to fish, birdwatch, or enjoy boat rides among the verdant Sierra Madre landscapes. And for those craving sun and surf, Platanitos, Chacala, and Guayabitos, beachfront paradises often overlooked by international tourists, are all reachable in under two hours by car.

My Beautiful Nayarit: Curated Adventures Await

To help visitors make the most of this newly accessible region, Nayarit Adventures has launched an immersive four-day, three-night package called My Beautiful Nayarit. Designed to showcase

the state’s cultural depth and ecological wonders, the package includes hotel accommodations and guided tours for travelers flying into Tepic. For guests originating in other cities or states, the package also includes private transfers to Tepic.

The thoughtfully curated itinerary explores:

San Blas: A historic port town with colonial architecture, mangrove estuaries, and spectacular sunsets.

Coral Islands at Rincón de Guayabitos: A protected marine sanctuary offering excellent snorkeling and birdwatching.

El Nayar: A journey into the traditions of the Cora and Huichol Indigenous communities, rich with ritual and handicrafts.

Santa María del Oro: A day of leisure and adventure at the region’s iconic volcanic crater lake. Culinary and Cultural Riches

Nayarit’s gastronomy is another draw for travelers in the know. In Tepic, indulge in local

specialties like zarandeado fish, slathered in local spices and grilled over an open flame, and pacholas, a spiced meat dish served with handmade tortillas. Coastal towns offer fresh seafood pulled straight from the Pacific, while mountain villages produce cheeses, coffees, and sweets that reflect generations of artisanal expertise.

Meanwhile, festivals and religious celebrations bring towns to life with color, music, and centuries-old traditions. Whether it’s the Danza de los Mexicas or sacred Huichol ceremonies, there’s always something beautiful to witness.

With competitive pricing, convenient travel times, and increasing international interest in lesser-known destinations, the LAX-TPQ connection is set to become a major draw for travelers seeking richer cultural and nature-focused experiences off the traditional tourist track.

Bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, Nayarit is a state of remarkable diversity. From surfing in Sayulita to birdwatching in San Blas, from the folkloric traditions of the Sierra to the boutique resorts of the coast, Nayarit delivers a wealth of experiences for every kind of traveler. With new infrastructure, growing international connectivity, and renewed focus on sustainable tourism, the state is ready to welcome the world, starting with this new flight.

Inside Capital One's New 'flagship' Lounge At JFK With Impressive Amenities

Welcome inside the brand-new Capital One Lounge at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), the first credit card-branded lounge to be open 24/7.

This new Capital One Lounge is also home to a few other firsts, including the first "flagship"-branded outpost in the issuer's network, the first with a cheesemonger, the first with a reimagined bodega-style grab-and-go counter, the first to measure nearly 13,500 square feet and much more.

As you can probably already tell, Capital One pulled out all the stops for its first New York outpost. While the issuer might tell you it's because New York is such an important market for its cardmembers, the truth is that JFK, and Terminal 4 in particular, is perhaps the most competitive airport for credit card-branded lounges.

Here's everything you need to know about this brand-new lounge opening Thursday, June 19.

Capital One Lounge JFK access

The $395-
per-year Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is the primary way most travelers can access a Capital One Lounge.

Given the changes coming for authorized user and guest access, being a primary Venture X cardholder will become the most practical way to access airport lounges.

Starting Feb. 1, 2026, the Venture X will no longer provide complimentary lounge access to authorized users, nor will it offer automatic complimentary guest access to Capital One Lounges and Capital One Landings for primary cardholders.

Primary cardholders will have the option to pay $125 annually for each authorized user to maintain access to all lounges included with the card (Capital One Lounges, Capital One Landings and Priority Pass lounges). Primary cardholders who want to bring guests into the lounge will need to spend $75,000 a year on their card to unlock this benefit.

The new Capital One Lounge is the first in the network to be open 24/7. While that might be a bit surprising — especially since Terminal 4 only sees a handful of departures between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., according to Cirium timetables — Capital One didn't actually have a choice in the matter.

One of the nonnegotiable aspects of its lease was that the lounge space must be open around the clock.

The Capital One Lounge at JFK is in the airport's iconic Terminal 4, home primarily to Delta Air Lines' big hub operation, as well as a slew of other international carriers.

If you're flying from Terminal 4, you'll find the lounge just past security on the departures level, which is one level below the entrances to the American Express Centurion Lounge, the Chase Sapphire Lounge and the Delta One Lounge.

The Capital One Lounge is in the central corridor connecting the A and B gates in Terminal 4, but it is a bit closer to the B pier. Either way, expect a long walk to the end of either the A or B pier and plan your visit accordingly.

If you're not flying from Terminal 4, you could theoretically use the lounge before departure by taking the AirTrain from another terminal, but you'll need to clear security twice and allot enough time to make it back to your departure terminal before your flight.

Central Park’s Only Formal Garden Reopens After A $25M Upgrade

The Central Park Conservatory Garden might go unnoticed compared to other locations, but it is very much worthy of a visit.

While there are plenty of locations to explore within NYC’s communal backyard, the Central Park Conservatory Garden is not one you’d want to skip. The six-acre destination is nestled between 104th to 106th Street and just reopened after a three-year, $25 million restoration. Famous for its tulips, summer perennials, and chrysanthemums — among other flora — this scenic spot is one of the most romantic in the city and oftentimes serves as a wedding venue. Consider it a taste of Europe uptown thanks to its three main features: the English Garden, the Italianate Center Garden, and the French Garden.

Just in time for the nice weather this summer, the grounds are back up and running, waiting for New Yorkers to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy a brief respite into nature.

All about the Central Park Conservatory Garden

According to reps from Central Park, this is considered the most significant investment in the area since its original construction in 1937 — a.k.a. upgrades were long overdue. Among some of the upgrades include: restoration of the historic bluestone pavers, upgraded stormwater drainage and grading, modernized fountains and electrical systems, and installed ramps and realigned paths for universal access. Now that the garden is in full bloom, much like NYC’s graduating seniors, the Conservancy will have pro photographers on site on June 16th and 18th from 1-4pm to take portraits of local graduates. Betsy Smith, President and CEO of the Central Park Conservancy, said, “This special portrait project celebrates two meaningful transitions: the reopening of one of the Park’s most cherished spaces, and the next chapter for these young New Yorkers. It’s a wonderful example of our continued commitment to investing in the northern end of the Park, ensuring that future generations can gather here to celebrate life’s important milestones in a vibrant and welcoming setting.”

Although spots have filled up, definitely keep it in mind for your future graduation snaps, or if you just want a sweet nature selfie right in the middle of NYC. This is the perfect place to find it.

Move Over, Rolls-Royce – America’s First Homegrown Ultra-Luxury Vehicle In Almost A Century Is Here To Steal Its Crown

Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Mercedes-Maybach… soon you’ll be able to add another, albeit far less recognizable, name to that list of the world’s most luxurious car makers. US start-up Dacora is here and wants a piece of the ultra-high-net-worth pie.

Founded in New York’s Hudson Valley by MIT-trained engineers Kristie and Eric D’Ambrosio-Correll, the fledgling brand is the first of its kind to be founded and led by a female CEO, as well as the first to have the confidence to command $500,000 (around £370,000 / AU$770,000) for a highly-personalized electric vehicle without hundreds of years worth of history to back it up.

The price point is set as such because Dacora claims each vehicle is “meticulously handmade” using American-sourced components and materials.

The 1930s-inspired design, produced in collaboration with Italy’s renowned Pininfarina Group, pays homage to the glamorous streamliners of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

Long hoods, shapely fenders and the option to specify real metal and hardwood inlays on the exterior are just a few of the stylistic talking points.

Inside, you won’t find any nasty plastics or cheap scratchy surfaces, as Dacora is only turning to natural wood, leather and woven wool for its interiors.

In fact, the company says there will be twice-yearly ‘drops’ that will allow customers to completely swap out the interior fabrics with the changing seasons – wool for winter, linen for summer, for example.

The currently unnamed debut model will be available with anything from three- to seven-seat configurations, with each seat including its own independent lighting and climate controls.

Dacora wants to take us back to a time when driving was a sensory experience, so has ditched today's screen-dominated cockpit, relying on just one, non-touchscreen display to take care of infotainment duties.

When not in use, this screen apparently disappears behind a semi-transparent wooden panel, while all controls are mechanical. Quite the analog move for two MIT-trained engineers.

As for performance, Dacora is yet to announce exact EV powertrain details, but says it is aiming for over 800hp and a projected 400-mile all-electric range. There will also be the option of a hybrid powertrain on request.

Co-founder and CEO Kristie D’Ambrosio-Correll was the former CTO of Mirror, a smart fitness product that proved a popular lifestyle product with the very wealthy.

Building on this blueprint, Dacora will open its 100-acre Hudson Valley Garage next year, complete with on-site production, design atelier and rooms for guests to stay. Every car will be a bespoke, personal commission, with the brand’s designer on-hand to guide them through the process.

Customers will also get to enjoy curated events, “immersive experiences” and all of the other lovely things rich people like to fill their spare time with.

Dacora will have to nail this side of things, because early images of the vehicle reveal divisive styling and half a million US dollars buys a lot of Rolls-Royce, which remains the final word in automotive opulence and the ultimate show of wealth.

Travelore News: Spanish Court Rejects Airbnb Appeal And Keeps Order To Block Nearly 66,000 Listings

A Spanish court on Thursday rejected an appeal by Airbnb and left in place an order to block almost 66,000 rental listings that the government said violated local rules.

The government has said the platform’s short-term rentals exacerbate Spain’s housing crunch while the country welcomes record numbers of tourists.

Last month, Spain’s government ordered Airbnb to block 65,935 listings in the country after the Consumer Rights Ministry flagged them for violations. It said Airbnb had to immediately take down 5,800.

An Airbnb spokesperson could not be immediately reached for comment on the Madrid’s High Court’s decision.

The ministry has said the listings it flagged did not include their license number or specify whether the owner was an individual or a company. It said others listed numbers that didn’t match what authorities had.

Last month, Consumer Rights Minister Pablo Bustinduy told The Associated Press that the tourism sector could not “jeopardize the constitutional rights of the Spanish people,” including their right to housing and well-being.

Carlos Cuerpo, the economy minister, said in a separate interview that the government had to tackle the unwanted side effects of mass tourism.

Canadian Tourists To The U.S. Were Down Nearly 40% In May, New Data Says

In recent years, Canadian tourists have made up roughly one-quarter of all foreign travelers who come to the United States, according to the U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO). Last year, Canadian tourists vacationing in the U.S. spent $20.5 billion. To put that number into context, it is nearly double the $10.4 billion Americans spent at McDonald’s during all of 2024.

Canada’s leadership warned residents against traveling to the U.S. in early February, after President Donald Trump began talking about tariffs and started referring to Canada as “the 51st state.” Then-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told Canadians not to vacation south of the border, and repeated that call to action through April, when he left office. Three-quarters (75%) of Canadians who had been planning a trip to the U.S. say the tariff announcements have influenced their plans, and over half (56%) who had planned to visit the U.S. have decided to travel elsewhere, according to a survey by Leger Marketing of over 1,500 Canadian adults fielded mid-May.

Are Canadians Traveling Less This Summer?

No. Over half of Canadians (55%) plan to take a leisure trip this summer, up from 47% who planned a summer trip in 2024, according to the Leger Marketing poll. Only 10% of Canadians plan to travel to the U.S. this summer compared to 23% last year. In contrast, Canadians’ domestic travel intentions are soaring, with 77% planning to stay within Canada (up from 69% in 2024). Compared to before President Trump’s tariffs were introduced, more Canadians are likely to travel within their home province (48% vs. 38% pre-tariffs) or to another Canadian province (42%, up from 30%).

Are Tourists From Other Countries Also Steering Clear Of The U.S. This Year?

The U.S. is looking at a significant 9% drop in U.S. international arrivals for 2025, and a drop of $8.5 billion (-4.7%) in international visitor spending relative to last year, according to the latest forecast from Tourism Economics, a nonpartisan Oxford Economics company tracking tourism statistics. But the true damage is actually twice as “catastrophic,” Adam Sacks, president of Tourism Economics, told Forbes. “Given trends in our pre-Inauguration forecast, we were expecting a 9% increase in international visitors this year,” Sacks said. “So the full way to appreciate the loss is relative to the growth that would have happened based on the ongoing recovery that was expected, because we're still well below 2019 levels.” Considering 2025 was forecast to be a big growth year for international inbound visitors, the true loss for the U.S. is far bigger. The World Travel & Tourism Council predicts an even bigger decline in tourism revenue for the U.S., forecasting a loss of $12.5 billion in international visitor spending in 2025.

Big Number

$1.8 billion. That’s how much in export revenue is lost for every 1% drop in international visitor spending, according to the USTA. If the downward trajectory continues through the end of the year, the country stands to lose at least $21 billion in travel-related exports.

Tangent

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation led by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has proposed slashing the budget of Brand USA, the country’s public-private destination marketing organization, from $100 million to $20 million. The USTA said it is “deeply concerned” about the proposal, saying such drastic cuts would “significantly impact every sector of our industry.”

Protect Your Skin, Clothing, And Gear From Mosquitoes And Ticks That Can Carry The Zika Virus, Lyme Disease, The Powassan Virus, West Nile Virus, Dengue, Chikungunya, And More

Insect-borne diseases pose a significant health risk worldwide, particularly for travelers exploring tropical or rural areas. Mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas can transmit serious illnesses like malaria, dengue fever, Lyme disease, and Zika virus, often catching people off guard in unfamiliar environments. Prevention is key—using insect repellents, wearing protective clothing, and staying in screened accommodations can reduce exposure. Travelers should also be aware of local outbreaks, consider vaccinations or prophylactic treatments when available, and take precautions to safeguard their health. Even a small bite can lead to major complications if left unchecked.

We recommend the Sawyer family of insect repellents to protect your skin, clothing, gear, and tents.

Here are a few of their products:

Permethrin Fabric Treatment

24 oz Trigger Spray

Odorless after drying, Sawyer Permethrin Fabric Treatment can be used to treat a variety of fabrics like clothing, gear, and tents. A successful application of this insect repellent treatment is effective against mosquitoes and ticks for 6 weeks or 6 washes.

20% Picaridin Insect Repellent

An effective alternative to DEET that’s safe for the whole family, Sawyer's 20% Picaridin insect and tick repellent provides effective protection from disease-spreading ticks (Lyme disease, tick-borne encephalitis) and mosquitoes (West Nile, Dengue, and Zika viruses). More effective at repelling biting flies than DEET, it's also effective at repelling stable flies, black flies, gnats, chiggers, and sand flies. Very comfortable to wear on your skin, it's ideal for all your outdoor adventures, from camping, backpacking, hunting, and fishing to backyard BBQs, sporting events, days at the park, and more.

Sawyer 20% Picaridin topical spray is effective for up to 12 hours against mosquitoes and ticks (14 hours for the lotion), and the spray and lotion provide up to 8 hours of protection against biting flies, gnats, chiggers, and sand flies. Both the non-greasy, fragrance-free spray and lotion dry quickly and won't damage plastics or synthetic coatings — safe for use on clothing, backpacks, watches, sunglasses, fishing line, firearm finishes, and more.

A Caribbean island under U.S. jurisdiction is contemplating a future more akin to the Canary Islands. Puerto Rico, an American territory, has put forth several proposals aiming to sever ties with the United States and re-align with Spain, over a century since it bid farewell to its former European ruler.

With a population of 3.2 million, Puerto Rico fell under U.S. sovereignty in 1898 following the Spanish-American War, transitioning from Spanish rule established by Christopher Columbus in 1493, who christened it San Juan Bautista under a Royal decree.

Despite the change in governance, Spanish has steadfastly remained the lingua franca of Puerto Rico, spoken by over 95% of residents and serving as the mainstay language for everyday interactions, education, and commerce. It comes just ahead of a huge TSA change that will affect millions of passengers - and has been 20 years in the making.

In a surprising development, a segment of the Puerto Rican populace is showing enthusiasm for joining the European Union by reuniting with Spain. The 'Adelante Reunificacionistas' political movement, conceived in 2017, is gathering steam with its bold vision for Puerto Rico to reintegrate with Spain as its 18th autonomous community.

The movement's founders claim that around 13% of Puerto Ricans are in favor of rejoining Spain, viewing it not as a sentimental journey but as a route to a more equitable and flourishing future. "Puerto Rico never wanted to separate from Spain," declares José Lara, president of the organization.

Mr. Lara contends that Puerto Rico has been stuck in a state of stagnation since becoming a US territory, enduring over a hundred years "of subjugation" under an American administration that denies them full citizenship rights.

Despite their status as US citizens, Puerto Ricans are excluded from voting in presidential general elections and lack voting representation in the United States Congress. "We want Puerto Rico to regain the status it lost when it joined the United States," Mr. Lara insists.

Lara believes that keeping Spanish as the primary language and holding onto Hispanic cultural traditions have been crucial for convincing locals that they would be better off rejoining Spain.

Mr. Lara asserts: "We want a future of progress, and we believe that future lies in Spain."

Travelore News: United Airlines Shuts Down Starlink WiFi Service On Some Of Its Planes After The Antennae's Caused Problems With Its Jets' Equipment

Air travel in America has been beset with headline-making troubles, from a shortage of air traffic controllers to Boeing planes suffering from catastrophic quality control.

Now add Starlink equipment — yes, SpaceX's satellite-based internet provider — that's interfering with radio communications on some United Airlines regional jets, according to The Wall Street Journal, leading the airline to shut down the WiFi service aboard its Embraer E175 jets.

Whenever they communicated with air traffic controllers, pilots were getting static interference on their radio transmission, which was then linked to the recent installation of Starlink antennae. The WSJ reports that the airline doesn't think it was a safety issue.

"Starlink is now installed on about two dozen United regional aircraft," read a statement from the airline, published by The Points Guy, which first broke the story. "United and Starlink teams are working together to address a small number of reports of static interference during the operation of the Wi-Fi system, which is fairly common with any new airline Wi-Fi provider. We expect the service to be back up and running on these aircraft soon."

Airplane safety was thrown into high relief earlier this year when a helicopter collided with an airplane in Washington, DC, which killed more than 60 people.

Besides safety, another hidden concern is Musk's increasing entanglement with critical parts of the nation's infrastructure, from DOGE to SpaceX rockets being used to ferry astronauts back and forth between Earth and the International Space Station.

Despite Musk's recent falling out with Trump over federal spending, Musk and his companies remain pillars of transportation and commerce. There appears to be no plans to phase out SpaceX spacecraft, for instance, regardless of grandstanding from Trump.

The inclusion of the Starlink equipment on airplanes is just another piece to Musk's growing empire — and evidence that society relies on him a lot, whether for good or ill.

Travelore News: Delta Air Lines Quietly Pulls Back On Free Earbuds Distribution

A long-standing inflight perk is being scaled back, and it could signal a shift in how airlines manage amenity distribution.

Since 1978, Delta Air Lines passengers have grown accustomed to receiving complimentary earbuds onboard, an amenity introduced with the airline’s original three-class cabin service: First, Medallion and Economy. For many travelers, these simple headphones have become a small but expected part of the Delta flying experience, helping passengers access the airline’s extensive in-flight entertainment system with ease.
But starting May 15, 2025, that experience is got a quiet yet significant update.

No more earbud handouts during boarding

According to an internal memo obtained by Gate Access, Delta Air Lines is rolling back the automatic distribution of complimentary earbuds for passengers in Comfort+ and Main Cabin. Moving forward, only Business and First Class travelers will receive earbuds without needing to ask.

Flight attendants have been instructed to discontinue the practice of walking the aisle and offering earbuds during boarding. Additionally, the customary audio announcement that previously informed passengers of the availability of earbuds will be removed entirely.

This move marks the first major change to Delta’s earbud policy in nearly five decades.

Why is Delta making this change?

Delta has attributed the shift to "challenges with global sourcing networks." In other words, supply chain constraints have prompted the airline to take steps to conserve inventory.

While Delta emphasizes that the change is temporary, the memo suggests that it’s part of a broader effort to manage resources amid ongoing logistics issues. Notably, the policy adjustment won’t affect all routes. Delta will continue to distribute earbuds across most transoceanic flights, regardless of cabin class. However, the memo does leave room for further updates, indicating that the policy may evolve depending on how the situation unfolds.

How to get earbuds on Delta flights now

If you’re flying in Comfort+ or Main Cabin and still want to enjoy Delta’s seatback entertainment options, you can still request a pair of earbuds—just don’t expect them to be proactively offered. Passengers are advised to wait until they’re fully seated before making the request, in order to avoid slowing down the boarding process.

This subtle change could easily be missed if you’re not paying attention, which is likely by design. By shifting to a request-based model, Delta avoids creating a high-profile disruption while still achieving its operational goals.

Why this shift might actually make sense

From a logistical and sustainability perspective, this move has merit.

In-flight earbuds are often treated as disposable. Many passengers tuck them away in bags, forget about them in seatback pockets, or toss them after minimal use. This waste adds up, both in cost and environmental impact. By only distributing earbuds on request, Delta may be able to significantly cut down on unnecessary consumption and improve inventory management.

There’s also a behavioral component to consider. The expectation of "free stuff" on flights, whether it's earbuds, snacks, or small toiletry kits, has long been a part of airline culture. But as carriers shift focus to streamlining operations and reducing waste, reconditioning traveler expectations could become an industry-wide trend.

Still, this type of change requires thoughtful execution.

Managing perception is key

One of the more delicate aspects of Delta’s decision is its choice not to make a public announcement. Instead, it’s quietly updating onboard procedures and letting travelers find out the new policy in real time.

While this avoids drawing headlines or sparking backlash, it can also create confusion. Frequent flyers who’ve come to expect earbuds without having to ask may feel overlooked or, worse, unfairly singled out when their rowmate receives a pair and they don’t.

Airlines walk a fine line between efficiency and passenger satisfaction, and seemingly minor adjustments, like not receiving something as simple as earbuds, can feel jarring when not properly communicated.

That said, this shift isn’t about cutting costs at the expense of the customer. It’s about smarter distribution. And for travelers who genuinely value in-flight entertainment, the solution is still simple: just ask.

Final takeaway

Delta’s decision to move from automatic to on-request earbud distribution signals a subtle but important shift in airline amenity strategy. While the change is framed as temporary and driven by supply challenges, it also reflects a broader trend in how airlines are rethinking what "free" means at 30,000 feet.

Whether this model becomes the norm across more airlines remains to be seen, but passengers would be wise to pack their own headphones, just in case. As travel rebounds and carriers look to trim inefficiencies, expect more low-key adjustments like this to quietly reshape the in-flight experience.

For now, the earbuds are still there, just not in your hand unless you ask.
