BANGKOK –  - Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has been voted the world’s No. 1 Hotel Brand for the second consecutive year by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, the largest and most influential travel magazine in the United States. In addition, Six Senses Yao Noi has been named the No. 1 Resort Hotel in Southeast Asia.

The double accolade confirms how Six Senses is satisfying travelers through its core values of sustainability, pioneering wellness, a fun and quirky vibe, unique experiences, local sensibility and emotional hospitality that begins with empathy. Across all its properties, the enduring purpose is to help guests reconnect with themselves, others and the world around them.

Receiving the awards at a special cocktail celebration in New York City, Neil Jacobs, chief executive officer at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas said, “We are thrilled to receive this award for the second year in a row. On behalf of our entire community of hosts who care about creating out-of-the-ordinary experiences for our guests, we could not be more honored and grateful by the readers of Travel + Leisure, who took the time to vote. It is a special joy to receive the award in New York, where our first U.S. hotel – Six Senses New York – is under construction at The Eleventh and getting ready to open in 2019."

Six Senses continues to win hearts and minds, with 2018 seeing the brand’s expansion to Bali, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Singapore and Turkey. Six Senses currently manages 16 resorts and hotels plus 31 spas. Neil Jacobs went on to say that the Six Senses brand is not just about the latest in luxury or outrageously beautiful locations (although those are important too), but also its sustainable practices and commitment to groundbreaking wellness initiatives. “Guests want an understanding of where they visit and to feel in harmony with the local environment. There’s a greater consciousness and interest around personal health and the health of our planet.” He added that Six Senses is careful to establish consistent quality and standards without being formulaic. "Each property brings our brand to life in its own playful and unique way. Our owners and travel partners are also key contributors in delivering this winning guest experience.”

The August issue of Travel + Leisure marks the 23rd edition of World’s Best, with more than 300,000 respondents rating hotel brands on their locations, rooms and facilities, food, service, and overall value. With a monthly circulation of over 950,000 readers, the publication, which first hit newsstands in 1937, surveys readers from November through March through the print magazine, tablet editions, newsletters, social media and website.

Six Senses Bhutan Set for October 2018 Opening

Six Senses Bhutan Set for October 2018 Opening
Six Senses Bhutan, which is gearing up for an October 2018 opening, is a collection of five boutique lodges set in the western and central valleys of Bhutan, each with its own character, environment, and experiences.
Beginning with the capital and the largest of the lodges, Six Senses Thimphu places a strong emphasis on incorporating the spirit of the grand architectural elements of a dzong (fortress) and clouds, giving it the name of Palace in the Sky. The second is Six Senses Punakha, located in the relatively low-lying valley of Punakha which takes inspiration from the farms and vegetable terraces across the valley and the traditional cantilever bridges of Bhutan to create a Flying Farmhouse amidst rice fields.
Moving further towards central Bhutan is the quaint glacial valley of Phobjikha, famous for being the winter residence of black-necked cranes.
This valley is home to Six Senses Gangtey which is fondly called the Traditional Birdwatching Bridge due to its main bridge-like building with a large glass area overlooking the valley where these sacred birds roam freely.
Traveling further east, but still in the central area of Bhutan, is the Kingdom's spiritual center with its stunning landscape and beautiful monasteries. Six Senses Bumthang is located in an evergreen pine forest and with its immersive tree and garden interior design theme, it is fondly referred to as the Forest in a Forest. The fifth resort in the collection is Six Senses Paro. Located at a stunning elevation overlooking the Paro Valley and next to ancient dzong stone ruins, this lodge is affectionately called Stone Ruins.
The Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha resorts will open in October 2018 with reservations now being accepted for stays starting on November 3, 2018. The Gangtey and Bumthang resorts open in early 2019.
Rates & Reservations and Special Opening Offer: Suite rates start at $500 USD for double occupancy and as a special opening offer until February 28, 2019, Six Senses Bhutan will offer an inclusive breakfast, lunch and dinner (restaurant dining or picnic). For stays between November 3, 2018 and February 28, 2019 for five consecutive nights at one or more of the resorts, Six Senses Bhutan will offer guests a car and driver plus a guide during their stay at Six Senses Bhutan.
"There is so much to explore in this mystical Himalayan Kingdom, with its cultural, natural, and spiritual beauty making it a compelling destination. With the nation's driving force being Gross National Happiness, the Kingdom has protected its identity while progressing with the world. Compassion is a way of life in Bhutan and it extends to the protection of nature and sustainability. Six Senses Bhutan shares these values and has become an integral part of the local fabric," said General Manager Mark Swinton.
"Activities have been designed to showcase the best of Bhutan. The emphasis on experiences and service is brought alive by our GEMs (Guest Experience Makers) who act as guides and assist guests in every manner possible to create an authentic Bhutanese and true Six Senses experience. Meditating at the prayer pavilion in the reflecting ponds overlooking the giant Buddha statue across the valley; hiking up to Chorten Ningpo in Punakha; participating in local farm activities in Gangtey; treehouse dining at Bumthang; and a private dinner in the 15th century stone ruins at Paro are just a few of the magical experiences created for guests of Six Senses Bhutan."
Each location will have its own Spa & Wellness Center with extensive facilities and treatments reflecting the valley in which they are set.
Therapies range from hot stone baths in Thimphu and Bumthang, to a pyramid meditation room and swedana treatment at Gangtey, to a dip in the heated outdoor pool at Punakha or treatment in a spa room overlooking the ruins in Paro. The focus on well-being is emphasized with programs that include Six Senses Integrated Wellness, Sleep With Six Senses and Eat With Six Senses.
Getting There: Bhutan is served by Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines.
International destinations on scheduled flights are Bangkok, New Delhi, Kolkata, Singapore, Kathmandu, Dhaka, Bagdogra, Guwahati and Gaya. Domestic flights are available between Paro and Bumthang. Helicopter charters are available from Paro airport and private jet assistance is offered by Bhutan Air Services.

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas To Open Its First North American Property In New York In 2019, Its First Urban Hotel

 http://werecommend.info/primage/ss_logo_lr.jpg

BANGKOK – October 6, 2016  Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is delighted to announce the brand’s long-anticipated debut in the United States with the opening of Six Senses New York, a luxury hotel being developed by HFZ Capital Group in New York City between Manhattan’s popular High Line and the natural wonder of the Hudson River.

The extraordinary setting combined with an exciting new development project made this opportunity an idyllic ‘urban home’ for the first U.S. hotel project for Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas and its flagship urban property, as announced today by Chief Executive Officer Neil Jacobs. “This project is a fascinating and exciting contrast to the typical Six Senses locations where we operate resorts in settings with azure waters, UNESCO heritage listings and lush rainforests,” said Jacobs. “Six Senses New York will have the same touch-points and DNA, with some creative adaptation of course, but with no compromises on our commitment to community, wellness, sustainability and design. We are delighted to be partnering with HFZ on this fabulous urban development.”

The development project by HFZ Capital Group is located on 10th Avenue, the site encompasses the entire block between 17th and 18th streets in the heart of the city’s vibrant and artsy Chelsea neighborhood. The overall project, named The Eleventh, features two soaring towers designed by award-winning architectural and design group BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group).  The towers’ design draws inspiration from New York City's classic Modernist structures and cultural institutions, while also playfully skewing the traditional skyscraper form with their rotating appearance. The stone and metal facades will add a dynamic yet harmonious twist to a vibrant West Chelsea neighborhood that has become known around the world for its groundbreaking contemporary architecture. The towers are approximately 300 and 400 feet (90 and 120 meters) tall, making them far taller than surrounding buildings and create expansive vistas of the High Line, Hudson River and Downtown and Midtown skylines. This mixed-use development will bring luxury to downtown Manhattan’s West Side with its first five-star hotel, approximately 240 condominium residences and high-end retail shopping.

The hotel will be located in the east tower directly adjacent to the High Line with ten floors and 137 keys. A popular New York City landmark, the High Line has helped transform the area into a must-see destination for both locals and tourists. Hotel accommodations will begin at a generous 400 square feet (37 square meters) to enable Six Senses New York to deliver the high level of personal service and lifestyle quality for which the brand is synonymous.

“We are setting a new precedent for architecture, design and lifestyle in downtown Manhattan, in a world-class location squarely between the High Line and Hudson River,” said HFZ Capital Group Chairman and Founder Ziel Feldman. “Six Senses will bring something completely unique to the New York City hospitality space while helping us realize our vision for The Eleventh. As a company we share in Six Senses' commitment to a forward-thinking, environmentally-conscious mentality that makes no compromise on quality and service, making this the perfect partnership."

Pegasus Capital Advisors L.P., a New York-based private equity fund, acquired Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in 2012. Pegasus is partnering with HFZ in the development of the hotel. “We are delighted to join forces with HFZ to make this vision a reality,” said Craig Cogut, chairman and president of Pegasus.

A prime project commitment is to the environment and the project is being meticulously planned with the intent to attain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification. Hotel guest rooms will be designed and appointed in compliance with the Six Senses brand’s dedication to sustainability and reverence for the environment.

Spas are an integral part of the Six Senses brand. Six Senses Spa New York will offer a layered approach to wellness with treatments that are an intuitive mix of science and human awareness, where a high-tech and high-touch approach defines service that is crafted around the individual.

Two restaurants will be located in the hotel and showcase the brand’s popular culinary approach to wellness by serving fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced produce and ingredients. Plans are also underway to create a unique private members club within the hotel and innovative meeting space to cater to small groups and board meetings.

Six Senses New York is slated to open in 2019.
