Port Canaveral has officially launched a $95 million expansion and renovation project for Cruise Terminal 10. Designed to accommodate the cruise industry's largest mega-ships, the overhaul will expand the facility to over 145,000 square feet—nearly 30% larger than its current layout.
Scheduled for completion in November 2027, the upgraded facility will comfortably handle ships carrying up to 6,700 passengers per sailing.
1. Modernized Design & Natural Light
Designed by Miami-based architectural firm Bermello Ajamil, the reimagined terminal will feature a striking glass façade to bring in natural light, vibrant local artwork, and streamlined interior architecture. The goal is to deliver a warm, visually striking atmosphere from the moment guests step inside.
2. Seamless Check-In & Luggage Handling
To keep guest movement efficient during peak embarkation windows, the project significantly expands key operational zones:
- Expanded Security Screening: Larger screening areas to reduce wait times during peak boarding hours.
- Enhanced Luggage Laydown: Expanded luggage processing areas to expedite bag transfers.
- Improved Vertical Transportation: New high-capacity escalators and elevators to move passengers smoothly between levels.
3. Infrastructure & Structural Upgrades
Led by Orlando-based contractor PCL Construction Services, construction includes critical underground and structural work:
- Replacement of waterside and landside trench drains to reinforce ground integrity.
- Installation of modern HVAC systems and clear, upgraded digital signage.
4. Part of the $1 Billion "Port Canaveral Advantage"
This $95 million investment is part of the broader Port Canaveral Advantage capital improvement initiative, a nearly $1 billion program modernizing infrastructure across the port. Other active projects include the expansion of Cruise Terminal 5 and a new 13-story parking garage at Cruise Terminal 6.
The Big Picture: Port Canaveral currently serves seven major cruise lines operating over 1,000 sailings annually from 18 homeported vessels. The Terminal 10 transformation will ensure the port is fully equipped to host next-generation mega-ships, including the upcoming MSC World Atlantic debuting in 2027.
