What's New In Sonoma County For Fall 2025
With the arrival of autumn, Sonoma County is beginning to glow with brilliant oranges, golden yellows, and moody ambers as our region moves to the rhythm of the seasonal harvest. Crisp mornings carry the scent of crushed grapes and falling leaves, while vineyard crews work under soft sunlight. From Healdsburg to the Sonoma Coast, vines blush with ripe fruit, welcoming visitors to taste the results of hands-on care. In this season, Sonoma County Wine Country becomes more than a place; it's a shared experience rooted in community, hospitality, and connection.
The fall season brings celebrations that reflect the spirit behind the vines. Fireside dinners, winemaker hikes, and Sonoma County Signature Experiences offer intimate ways to connect with the land. Set against a landscape dressed in vivid foliage, these gatherings showcase local bounty grounded in our deep agricultural heritage. This is Sonoma County Wine County at harvest: vibrant, inclusive, and unmistakably “for all of us.”
New in Hotels
Vinarosa Resort & Spa
Vinarosa Resort & Spa (formerly Vintners Resort) has unveiled a $15+ million transformation, ushering in a new chapter of Wine Country elegance. The reimagined resort offers laid-back luxury, blending upscale comfort with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Highlights include thoughtfully appointed rooms and suites; a spacious new lobby with a wine and coffee bar and expanded retail offerings; refreshed meeting and event spaces; and resort pool that complements the indulgent spa and wellness program, which features locally sourced, organic products. A revitalized culinary program is led by Executive Chef Sergio Howland, who brings a new vision rooted in the estate's 92-acres of vineyards, gardens, and orchards. Guests can enjoy a new farm-to-table menu and immersive chef-led experiences such as vineyard tours and picnics, culinary gardening and cooking classes, estate farmers markets, and wine blending and tastings.
Caesars Republic Sonoma County
The Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, in partnership with Caesars Entertainment, has broken ground on a landmark project that will transform River Rock Casino in Geyserville into Caesars Republic Sonoma County, a premier resort destination set to debut in summer 2027. The expansive new development will feature a 100-room luxury hotel complete with a spa, pool, and fitness center. Guests will enjoy an array of elevated dining experiences, including a signature steakhouse, upscale café, fireside bar, sports bar, and a dedicated wine bar with an outdoor deck offering sweeping views of the Alexander Valley, the acclaimed Northern Sonoma County wine region celebrated for its Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals.
Dawn Ranch
Dawn Ranch has introduced The Rover's Recharge; the world's first sleep wellness program designed specifically for dogs. This unique package highlights the resort's philosophy that rejuvenation should be shared by all members of the family, including four-legged companions. The Rover's Recharge is offered as a bookable add-on for a two-night stay. Each guest cabin is transformed into a calming space for dogs and includes a Pendleton Mountain-plaid pet bed, ElleVet Sciences Calm & Comfort Chews to encourage relaxation, a Thunderworks calming scent mist for aromatherapy, a dog-safe weighted blanket to promote a sense of security, and curated Spotify playlists accessible by QR code that are scientifically crafted to soothe pets. This program reflects Dawn Ranch's broader commitment to wellness, where human guests already enjoy spa treatments, creative workshops, outdoor experiences, and chef-driven dining in a peaceful setting of redwood groves, orchards, and meadows. By providing thoughtful comforts for dogs, the retreat is redefining pet-friendly travel and recognizing that when pets rest well, the overall experience is more enjoyable for both animals and their owners.
New in Wine
Solo Nostro Wines
Ted Seghesio, a fourth-generation winemaker from the historic Sonoma County winemaking family, has launched Solo Nostro with his wife, Dana, bringing their legacy of passion, craftsmanship, and innovation. The brand's first tasting room has opened at Bacchus Landing, a collaborative space also home to Dot Wines and Smith Story Wine Cellars. Solo Nostro, meaning “ours alone” in Italian, represents both a personal rebirth for Ted and a new chapter the couple proudly calls their own.
Montagne Russe Winery & Record Lounge
Montagne Russe Winery & Record Lounge has opened its doors in downtown Petaluma. Founded in 2015 by Kevin Bersofsky, who began crafting small-lot Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah in his garage, the winery takes its name from the French term for “roller coaster,” a nod to the highs and lows of winemaking. After flourishing in the Healdsburg area, Montagne Russe now brings its unique concept to Petaluma with a new tasting room that doubles as a record store. The space blends the sophistication of AVA-focused, handcrafted wines with the nostalgic charm of vinyl, offering more than 4,000 records for sale. Playful yet refined, Montagne Russe creates a multi-sensory experience where wine and music come together in perfect harmony.
Overshine Collective
Former Google executive David Drummond is reshaping Sonoma County's wine scene with The Overshine Collective, a collaborative group that now includes Martha Stoumen Wines, Reeve Wines, and BloodRoot Wines. Rather than traditional acquisitions, Drummond's model gives founders equity and creative freedom, while consolidating backend operations like finance and distribution to boost efficiency and allow greater focus on winemaking. The collective builds on prior investments including Idlewild Wines, Armida Winery (rebranded as Overshine Wines), Comunità, and the Las Cimas Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, now planted with rare Italian varietals led by winemaker Sam Bilbro. As consolidation grows across the industry, Drummond's approach preserves brand identity while promoting shared resources, collaboration, and expanded reach. The collective also aims to increase impact among underrepresented communities without compromising authenticity or control.
Sonoma County Winegrowers
The San Francisco Giants have teamed up with Sonoma County Winegrowers to launch an exclusive Giants Wine Club, a first-of-its-kind wine membership in Major League Baseball. Selections are handpicked by Evan Goldstein, MLB's first-ever Master Sommelier, who brings extraordinary expertise and a flair for pairing wine culture with baseball tradition. This innovative fan experience underscores the Giants' enduring connection to Sonoma County Wine Country and their reputation for creative, elevated programming in Northern California.
New in Restaurants
Bijou Petaluma
Bijou, meaning “jewel” in French, is the latest venture from the team behind Petaluma's Table Culture Provisions, chefs Stéphane Saint Louis and Steven Vargas with Marta Saint Louis. It offers a more approachable take on their Michelin-recommended cuisine in downtown Petaluma. The space blends modern comfort with community charm, featuring whitewashed walls, a concrete bar, minimalist tables, and exposed brick under warm metal-frame chandeliers—what Saint Louis calls his “jewel box for the community.” The seasonally rotating à la carte menu marries French technique with Sonoma ingredients, from duck-stuffed caramelle and truffle-topped croque monsieur to rib-eye with peppercorn sauce and Japanese sea bream with pistachio-caper sauce. Otello Tiano's cocktail program offers inventive originals, French-inspired classics, and a California-focused wine list. Balancing elevated technique with a warm, welcoming spirit, Bijou delivers refined hospitality, French-inspired flavors, and creative drinks, making it a polished yet inviting addition to Petaluma's dining scene.
Waterhawk Lake Club
Waterhawk Lake Club, the new lakeside venture from the team behind Petaluma's popular Brewsters Beer Garden, has opened in Rohnert Park. The refreshed venue features expansive views of Roberts Lake, luxe outdoor picnic seating, a fully redesigned interior, and a full bar led by beverage director Cappy Sorentino serving craft cocktails alongside approachable reimagined American classics. Owners Mike Goebel, Ben Hetzel and Sorentino have brought Brewsters' welcoming, communal ethos to this larger indoor-outdoor setting, making Waterhawk feel like an inviting summer hangout rather than an exclusive club.
The Burrow
Chef David Baeli and his wife Elise have opened The Burrow, a welcoming, family‑oriented café. Designed by parents for parents, the cozy spot features a thoughtfully curated chef‑driven menu for adults—including smash burgers, grilled salmon, duck‑fat potatoes and seasonal salads—and a separate “kid‑tested” menu (buttered noodles, mac & cheese, chicken tenders and more), plus an outdoor play area stocked with toys and books to keep little ones engaged. With a rotating array of craft beers from independently certified Sonoma County breweries, an approachable wine list and desserts like ice‑cream floats and almond‑flour cakes, The Burrow delivers elevated dining just off Healdsburg's town square.
Levant
Levant, a homestyle Middle Eastern restaurant, has opened in Petaluma's Theater District, offering flavors from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine/Israel prepared in generous, family‑style portions. Created by Arafat “Art” Herzallah of San Francisco's Freekah—alongside local partners Saheer Kassis and Issa Musalla—the menu features cold mezze like hummus, labneh, baba ghanoush and muhamarra served with warm pita, hot bitesize dishes such as fried halloumi, falafel and cauliflower, and hearty entrees including kufta, lahme and the signature Jordanian mansaf with lamb, saffron rice and jameed. The intimate 1,700 sq ft space features warm, rustic decor, and service is enriched by Herzallah's wife, who shares family stories and plant‑based options.
Jimtown Store and Them Sum
After a five-year hiatus, the beloved Jimtown Store in Alexander Valley has reopened under the new name Jimtown & Then Sum, helmed by Michelle Wood, chef‑owner of the acclaimed dim sum catering company Dim Sum and Then Sum. While the rustic charm of the circa‑1893 building remains largely untouched, weathered plank walls, wood floors, shaded porch, Wood has infused the space with her signature Chinese‑American flavors. The revamped menu now blends traditional Jimtown staples like sandwiches, salads, breakfast pastries, coffee and deli items with dumplings, bao buns, spring rolls and poke bowls, debuting three weeks into operations after initial challenges integrating the labor-intensive dim sum menu. With roots as a classic highway pit stop for cyclists, locals, and visitors, the rejuvenated Jimtown now marries nostalgic charm with bold new flavors.
Salt & Sea
Salt & Sea, a new concept from Chef Jake Rand of Sushi Kosho, has joined the culinary scene at The Barlow in Sebastopol. Specializing in Hawaiian-style poke bowls, the eatery serves up marinated raw fish over seasoned rice with fresh, vibrant toppings like avocado, seaweed, and Maui onions. Rounding out the menu are inventive offerings such as spicy tuna nachos, Japanese-style finger sandwiches, bubble tea, and tropical fruit drinks. With its island-inspired flavors and light, satisfying fare, Salt & Sea adds a bold and refreshing twist to The Barlow's expanding food lineup.
Jimmy's Lakeside Café
Longtime Sonoma County restaurateur Jim Goff has brought fresh energy back to the Windsor Golf Club with the grand reopening of the lakeside dining spot under a new name, Jimmy's Lakeside Café. Goff, who ran Sky Lounge Steakhouse & Sushi Bar at Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport from 2007 to 2022, is known for his mix of comfort classics, creative sushi, steaks, solid drink offerings, and broad appeal. At Jimmy's Lakeside Café, he intends to carry forward that philosophy: approachable dishes using fresh local ingredients, with a polished yet casual vibe that resonates with both tourists and golfers. Goff is also putting renewed emphasis on the venue's standout feature, its lakeside patio, pairing “views, hospitality, and the connection to golf and wine country” with plans for live music, tastings, and event-driven menus.
New in Experiences
FieldNotes at SingleThread Farms
FieldNotes is SingleThread Farms' annual farm summit, a full day celebration of culinary artistry, agricultural connection, and community gathering at their Dry Creek Valley farm. The day begins with a welcome beverage and access to a makers' marketplace. Guests can select up to two hands-on workshops such as donabe cooking and dashi demonstrations with Chef Kyle Connaughton, floral design with Head Farmer Katina Connaughton, or a “Garden to Glass” cocktail session with Scott Beattie. Lunch will be a family-style meal sponsored by YETI and prepared by Chef Darryl Bell of Stateline Road Smokehouse. In the afternoon, journalist Guy Raz will moderate a panel discussion on agriculture, hospitality, and sustainability featuring voices from the culinary and farming world. The evening program begins with a champagne reception, oyster station, and seasonal canapés in the gardens. Guests will then enjoy a six-course collaborative dinner. Chef Kyle Connaughton will cook alongside Chef Matthew Kammerer of Harbor House Inn, and Chefs Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski of State Bird Provisions, The Progress, and The Anchovy Bar. The menu will highlight late summer and early fall ingredients from Northern California. A portion of ticket proceeds will support Sonoma Family Meal, and on-site fundraising will help strengthen the local food economy | Saturday, October 18 | 9:00 am and 6:00 pm | Healdsburg
Collectors Lunch at Lynmar Estate
Lynmar Estate has introduced a new wellness-driven experience that blends beauty, nourishment, and science-based principles of longevity. Launching with an early fall menu, the Collectors Lunch is a four-course, open-air wine country dining experience inspired by the world's Blue Zones; regions where people enjoy the longest, healthiest lives. Beyond clean food and natural movement, these communities thrive on social connection, which research links to reduced inflammation, lower risk of chronic disease, and longer lifespan. Set in Lynmar's heirloom gardens overlooking Quail Hill Vineyard, the experience is designed to cultivate that same sense of connection through shared meals, hyper-local anti-inflammatory ingredients, and thoughtful wine pairings. Estate Chef David Frakes brings intention to every dish, while proprietor Anisya Fritz describes the lunch as “an act of love… for ourselves and those we care about.” This curated experience is offered Thursday to Sunday through November.
New in Airlines
Alaska Airlines
Nonstop service between Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) and Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS) returns this fall, with Alaska Airlines launching the seasonal route on October 26. The new flight connects the warmth of the desert with the laid-back luxury of Sonoma Wine Country, offering travelers a seamless journey between two beloved destinations. Alaska Airlines will operate the route with the Embraer 175, a comfortable, modern aircraft featuring 76 spacious seats, all either window or aisle, with no middle seats.
Southwest Airlines
Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport (STS) has announced that Southwest Airlines will begin service on April 7, 2026. The airline will launch with new nonstop routes to San Diego, Burbank, Las Vegas, and Denver, further expanding travel options for Sonoma County bound passengers. San Diego and Las Vegas flights will operate daily, including two San Diego roundtrips on peak days, while service to Denver and Burbank will be available on high-demand travel days. With this addition, travelers will gain convenient connections to Southwest's national network, including popular eastbound destinations, through North America's fourth-largest airline.
For the Good of the Cause
Dog Day Out
Sonoma County Animal Services Dog Day Out program offers a unique opportunity for both volunteers and shelter dogs. Designed to give dogs a break from the kennel environment, the program pairs volunteers with medium to large dogs for day-long adventures, allowing them to explore the outdoors, local parks, or even dog-friendly Sonoma County wineries and tasting rooms. Volunteers are provided with all the essentials, leash, harness, water, toys, and an “Adopt Me” vest, so they can focus on giving the dogs attention, exercise, and socialization. Beyond the joy of spending time with a four-legged friend, these outings provide shelter staff with valuable insights into each dog's personality, helping improve adoption matches. Dog Day Out not only enriches the lives of shelter dogs but also offers volunteers a meaningful way to enjoy the beauty of Sonoma County while making a tangible difference in a dog's life.
Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Open Space Preserve
West Sonoma County just got greener. 1,517 acres of redwood forest and salmon streams are now protected, quadrupling Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Open Space Preserve. The addition closes a major gap between existing parks and preserves, connecting a vast expanse of contiguous wildlife corridors. This means a more connected habitat for wildlife and a healthier future for Sonoma County's remarkable landscape.

Travelore News: Sandals Is Opening A Beaches All-Inclusive Resort In St Vincent And The Grenadines
Sandals is opening a new Beaches resort in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Sandals and Beaches Executive Chairman Adam Stewart made the revelation during the Skift Global Forum.
The new resort is a 360-room all-inclusive development planned for Mount Wynne Beach on the western coast of St Vincent – most notably, about a 10-minute drive from the Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines resort.
The opening of Sandals’ first-ever Saint Vincent resort last year helped buoy a tourism renaissance in the country, including a wave of new flights. That will soon include new nonstop flights between Atlanta and St Vincent on Delta.
“It’s clear that all tides rise together,” Stewart said. “We’re excited to continue that momentum with plans to bring a new 360-room Beaches Resort to this incredible destination.”
The announcement comes as Beaches has several other expansions planned in the Caribbean.
That includes the imminent debut of the Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos and new resorts in Exuma, Barbados and the Runaway Bay area of Jamaica.
In all, that adds up to more than $1 billion in new hotel investment by the company.

Saks Fifth Avenue Is Bringing Back Its Famous New York City Holiday Light Show This November, A Year After It Was Cancelled
The iconic Fifth Avenue light show returns this holiday season after a one-year hiatus, promising nightly sparkle, music and Midtown magic.

Fifth Avenue will sparkle again this holiday season. After pulling the plug in 2024 for the first time in two decades, Saks Fifth Avenue has confirmed it’s reviving its world-famous holiday light show this November, restoring one of New York’s most beloved free spectacles just in time for Christmas.
The comeback was announced by Saks global president and chief commercial officer Emily Essner, who told reporters that the pause was purely a cost-cutting measure during a financially rocky year. With the retailer now on firmer ground, the nightly extravaganza will once again transform the flagship at 611 Fifth Avenue into a choreographed wall of lights, sound and seasonal cheer.
For the uninitiated, the show projects thousands of synchronized lights across the building’s façade in time with festive music, repeating every few minutes from early evening until 11 pm. The entire production is staged directly across from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, creating a Midtown mash-up of holiday traditions that draw both locals and tourists in shoulder-to-shoulder crowds.
While exact dates haven’t been published yet, Saks typically unveils its windows and kicks off the show with a star-studded ceremony in late November. Past years have included fireworks, live performances and even Elton John on opening night. The light show then runs nightly into early January, with brief pauses on Christmas Eve and the evening of the Rockefeller Center tree lighting.
Even in 2024, when the show went dark, Saks kept its famed holiday windows alive, proving that Fifth Avenue’s appetite for sparkle is insatiable. This year, both traditions will once again run in tandem: the elaborate, themed windows at street level and the music-driven light spectacle soaring above. Together, they create one of Manhattan’s most photographed holiday moments.
Tips from veterans? Get there early if you want a prime view from the Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center, where the angels perfectly frame the Saks façade. Or sneak over to the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral for a less claustrophobic diagonal angle. Either way, you won’t need a ticket—it’s free, fabulous and a reminder that not every bit of New York holiday magic requires a credit card swipe.
Dust off your puffer, charge your phone and brace yourself for the crowds: Saks is back, and Fifth Avenue will shine brighter for it.

Travelore News: Europe Approves Record 700m Skyscraper Project
In a groundbreaking move that reshapes the skyline, Europe is set to host its tallest skyscraper, soaring above 700 meters.
Situated in the heart of London, this architectural marvel promises not only to redefine urban landscapes but also to usher in new standards of sustainable building practices.
The newly approved skyscraper, dubbed “The Cloud Piercer,” is expected to stand at a staggering 730 meters. This will eclipse the current tallest building in Europe, the Lakhta Center in Saint Petersburg, Russia, by a significant margin. The project received the green light from London city planners earlier this week and has already begun capturing the public’s imagination and curiosity.
Designed by the renowned architect Sir Jonathan Reed, The Cloud Piercer is not just about height but also about revolutionary design and sustainability. It features energy-efficient systems, vertical gardens, and is built with recycled materials. “Our goal was to merge aesthetic beauty with environmental responsibility,” says Reed.
The approval of such an ambitious project has sparked a variety of reactions among Londoners. While many marvel at the design and the potential economic benefits, others express concerns about the changing cityscape and environmental implications.
Emily Carter, a long-time resident of London and a professional photographer, shares her mixed feelings. “On one hand, it’s thrilling to see London leading with such an innovative project. On the other, I worry about the shadow it casts, literally and metaphorically, on our historic city,” she explains. Emily plans to document the construction process through her lens, hoping to capture the transformation of her city.
Experts predict that The Cloud Piercer will act as a catalyst for local economic growth. “The construction alone is expected to create thousands of jobs, and once completed, the building will house offices, luxury residences, and retail spaces,” states economic analyst Henry Tillman.
Additionally, the skyscraper is anticipated to become a major tourist attraction, potentially drawing millions of visitors each year eager to view the city from its highest observation deck. This influx of tourists could provide a significant boost to local businesses and services.
Despite its benefits, the project also raises environmental concerns. The construction phase is expected to have a substantial carbon footprint, although efforts are being made to mitigate these effects through various green initiatives and technologies.
Looking forward, The Cloud Piercer is seen as a prototype for future skyscrapers that aim to balance human aspirations with planetary health. “This project sets a precedent for future developments to be more environmentally conscious and integrated with their surroundings,” notes urban planner Alice Robertson.
The Cloud Piercer is poised to become a landmark of innovation and a testament to the possibilities of modern architecture and urban planning. Its development will undoubtedly keep environmental scientists, architectural enthusiasts, and the general public keenly watching as it reaches for the clouds.

For the first time, once members have linked their Miles & More and Marriott Bonvoy accounts online, they can earn Miles & More Points when staying at participating Marriott Bonvoy accommodations with access to over 30 hotel brands – just as they do when flying with Lufthansa Group Airlines, Miles & More airline partners or Star Alliance airlines. Forty Miles & More Points will be credited per stay. Up to 120 points can be earned per year. To achieve Frequent Traveler or Senator status, members still need at least 50 percent of Qualifying Points, which can only be earned on Lufthansa Group flights. HON Circle Members qualify exclusively through Business and First Class flights with Lufthansa Group Airlines and co-issuing Miles & More airline partners.
Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status for Senators and HON Circle Members
Another benefit of the strategic partnership is automatic status match for Senators and HON Circle Members, who will receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. With this Marriott Bonvoy status, members receive 25 percent more Marriott Bonvoy points for eligible hotel bookings, as well as room upgrades and late check-out (subject to availability).

Swiss International Air Lines Launches Completely Renewed Inflight Service In Business And First Class
From aperitif to dessert, Business and First Class travelers on SWISS’s long-haul flights are now offered an inflight service that compares to any top restaurant experience, including sophisticated meals, stylish details and a host of Swiss brands that, when combined, embody the pinnacle of comfort and hospitality aloft.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) now offers a completely renewed inflight service to long-haul SWISS Business and SWISS First guests. The new service product extends to a sophisticated culinary choice and carefully selected on-board comfort items, while a host of details deliver the very best of Swiss hospitality from takeoff to landing.
“After introducing our remodeled SWISS Economy and SWISS Premium Economy service products in March, we are now taking the next consistent step with the most comprehensive service renewal in the history of our company,” explained SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach. “Our new SWISS Business and SWISS First services are designed to provide all the ambience of a superior restaurant aloft, with greater choice, more individuality and an even firmer emphasis on Swiss hospitality. Our new premium inflight services make flying with SWISS much more than just transport because what we’re offering here is a genuinely memorable air travel experience.”
“From our development of new tableware to our choice of new products and our adoption of new processes and procedures, everything has been carefully devised and comprehensively trialed,” CCO Birlenbach continued. “Our crews have been intensively prepared, too, to ensure that they are fully familiar and at home with our new service product. So, what our guests on board will experience is the result of a truly massive undertaking on which our many teams throughout SWISS, both aloft and on the ground, have worked with all their passion and commitment.”
New experiences in SWISS Business
The new SWISS Business long-haul air travel experience begins with the serving of a typically Swiss aperitif after takeoff, once cruise level has been reached. The traditional nuts snack here is now supplemented by a new fresh element, such as olives, all accompanied by a wide range of beverages that include the SWISS Alpine Essence signature cocktail created exclusively for SWISS. This is followed by a full meal service at the passenger’s carefully laid table, with each course separately presented, including a new additional soup course. An expanded range of cheeses and desserts, as well as a new selection of pralines from Aeschbach Chocolatier round off the new meal service.
Greater inflight relaxation is also provided through new bed linens that ensure a pleasant night’s rest. On longer night flights of more than ten hours, guests are also offered a Muntagnard sleepshirt and an additional seat cover for even more comfort. The new inflight experience is further supplemented by stylish amenity kits, in changing designs, that have been co-developed with the Swiss VIU brand. Care items found in the kits feature the Alpine Valley signature scent specially created for SWISS by the Swiss-based Soeder company. High-quality headphones ensure optimum sound for the extensive inflight entertainment program, while a wider selection of beverages and snacks is available between meals throughout the flight.
Refined accents in SWISS First
SWISS First travelers can also look forward to an entirely remodeled inflight service that puts an even stronger focus on exclusivity and individuality. The entire food and beverage service is now presented on fine porcelain which, with its modern design and its black tableware elements, sets new benchmarks in refinement.
The new SWISS First experience begins before departure with the famed apéro flûtes from Confiserie Sprüngli, accompanied by a welcome drink of the traveler’s choice. Here, too, the beverage selection includes the SWISS Alpine Essence signature cocktail concocted exclusively for SWISS.
Once in the air, the inflight service commences with a tastefully presented amuse bouche trio, which is followed by a selection of cold delicatessen items served from the trolley at the passenger’s seat. A seasonal sorbet provides a refreshing intermezzo, and a cheese course featuring five types of cheese and an expanded choice of breads rounds off the main meal. The first service concludes with a selection of pralines and further sweet Sprüngli delights. Afternoon tea is now also offered on selected longer daytime flights, with a range of carefully selected teas and sweet and savory treats.
Unparalleled inflight comfort is guaranteed in SWISS First with pajamas and slippers by Zimmerli of Switzerland, which are accompanied by quality bed linens and a new amenity kit featuring Sisley care and comfort items. Further products from such renowned Swiss brands as Rohner and VIU are offered individually by the cabin personnel.
SWISS First travelers are also treated to Soeder’s refreshing Alpine Valley SWISS signature scent – in the hot towels, the pillow sprays, the care products and more. And, the new First Class inflight experience further extends to top-quality tableware throughout and state-of-the-art headphones that incorporate noise canceling technology for an optimum listening experience.
Part of SWISS Senses
The renewed service concepts form an integral part of SWISS Senses, the new inflight experience on SWISS’s long-haul flights. SWISS Senses further extends to a completely new cabin interior incorporating state-of-the-art seats, appealing ambient lighting and a design approach in all travel classes that embodies and conveys Swiss hospitality in all its various forms.

Discover The Soul Of Mexico In Its Colonial Cities
Mexico is calling on travelers to look beyond the beaches and discover the timeless beauty of the country’s colonial cities — destinations where cobblestone streets, centuries-old cathedrals, and vibrant plazas come together to tell the story of a nation shaped by culture, faith, food, and resilience.

From the silver-mining hills of Guanajuato to the artistic heart of San Miguel de Allende, the colonial cities of Mexico offer immersive, meaningful travel experiences for history lovers, foodies, cultural explorers, and adventure seekers alike.
“These cities are more than tourist destinations — they are living museums filled with real people, real traditions, and real beauty.” said Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, Minister of Tourism of Mexico. “Each one offers a window into the past, a celebration of the present, and a warm invitation to experience the soul of Mexico.”
Why Visit Mexico’s Colonial Cities?
The colonial cities — many founded in the 16th century — are rich with architectural treasures and cultural landmarks that have earned them international recognition. Several, including Puebla, Oaxaca, Morelia, Querétaro, and Zacatecas, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites known for their preservation and heritage value.
Here are just a few reasons to visit:
Architectural Wonders
Explore gothic and baroque cathedrals, colonial mansions, stone aqueducts, and colorful row houses. Cities like Morelia and Querétaro feature stunning examples of Spanish colonial design, while San Cristóbal delas Casas offers a charming blend of European and indigenous styles.
World-Class Cuisine
Mole Poblano, Puebla.
Each city brings its own flavor to the table. In Puebla, sample the legendary mole poblano and chiles en nogada. In Oaxaca, enjoytlayudas, tamales, and artisanal mezcal. Local markets overflow with regionalingredients, and food tours and cooking classes are readily available.
Festivals and traditions are a part of daily life. September is especially vibrant as the country celebrates Mexican Independence with colorful festivities, music, and patriotic pride. Visit during Día delos Muertos in Morelia, for a world-famous celebration of life and remembrance, or experience the spiritual processions of Semana Santa in San Luis Potosí. Artisans sell handmade textiles, pottery, and jewelry in centuries-old markets.
Natural Beauty and Walkability
Most colonial cities are surrounded by picturesque landscapes — valleys, mountains, and rivers — and feature compact, walkable centers. This makes them ideal for slow travel and eco-friendly exploration. Enjoy rooftop sunsets over pink-hued churches or hike through nearby canyons and forests.
Jiquilpan, Michoacan
Authenticity and Peace
These cities offer a slower, more intentional pace of life. Visitors can relax in sunny courtyards, sip coffee in historic plazas, and enjoy personal interactions with locals proud to share their heritage. It’s an alternative to overcrowded tourist spots, with more soul and fewer crowds.
Sustainability and Community Impact
The Ministry of Tourism is also highlighting the role of tourism in empowering local economies, particularly in rural and indigenous communities surrounding these cities. Visitors who shop at artisan cooperatives or participate in community-led tours help preserve cultural heritage while supporting small businesses.

The flag carrier is also upgrading its services to San Diego and Austin, flying to both destinations 14 times per week, giving its customers more options when looking to travel to America for their summer getaways next year.
New York
New York (JFK) will now operate exclusively from London Heathrow, improving connectivity for travellers with optimal onward connection times to Europe, the US, and further afield.
The airline will now operate nine flights from Heathrow to New York, with the latest addition at Heathrow operating on its 777-200 fleet, featuring First and Club Suite (long-haul business class), offering a more premium experience for every customer travelling on its flagship route.

Driverless Flying Taxi Launches In Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has launched its first drone taxi, an initiative led by entrepreneur Karim Abu Naba with the goal of modernizing the tourism sector and easing traffic congestion. Inspired by international models in South Korea, the United States, and especially China—where he found the most advanced technology—Abu Naba brought the concept to the country. Although only one unit is currently available, the plan is to expand to 12 drones that will connect key destinations such as Samaná, Punta Cana, Santiago, Puerto Plata, and the National District, eventually reaching all 32 provinces.
The unmanned aerial vehicle operates like a commercial flight but with distinct features. It carries two passengers, while the pilot and copilot remain on the ground, operating the drone remotely through satellite-connected systems. The aircraft, powered entirely by electricity, is equipped with 16 propellers and has a flight capacity of 30 minutes, covering distances up to 30 kilometers. Two Dominican pilots trained in China are currently certified to operate the system.
To access the service, users will be able to book flights through a dedicated app called “Fluir.” Prices are expected to start at around US$100, with Abu Naba emphasizing affordability to make the new mode of transport accessible. The initiative not only promises to revolutionize domestic travel but also positions the Dominican Republic as a regional pioneer in drone-based passenger mobility.

Travelore News: Airlines Will No Longer Be Required To Compensate Passengers For Flight Delays Under New Trump Administration Plan
Without regulatory oversight, airlines will get to decide for themselves what to offer travelers when flights are significantly delayed.
Fliers would be smart to buy travel insurance coverage.Jaromir Chalabala/Shutterstock
For a brief moment, U.S. fliers were on track to join travelers in places like Europe and Canada, where cash payouts and covered expenses are standard when airlines cancel or delay flights for reasons deemed within their control: for example, mechanical issues, staffing shortages, or system outages. A rule finalized in the last months of then President Joe Biden’s administration would have required airlines to pay cash—$200 to $775, depending on whether the delay was three hours or longer—plus cover meals and hotel rooms when delays or cancellations were the carrier’s fault. It was a sweeping protection modeled after Europe’s compensation system, long considered the gold standard for passenger rights.
Now that safeguard is on track to be dismantled. The Trump administration has stated that it plans to roll back the rule entirely, citing regulatory overreach and the need to stick only to requirements mandated by Congress. The move will put the United States back where it started: with airlines largely deciding for themselves what, if anything, to offer travelers when disruptions strike.
How we got here
The Biden-era regulation followed a string of chaotic travel seasons that saw widespread cancellations due to factors such as post-pandemic staffing shortages and technology-related issues. The cancellations left travelers stranded, most notably during the summer of 2022 and the holiday meltdown that same year. The Department of Transportation (DOT) at the time argued that stronger protections were needed to hold airlines accountable and restore consumer confidence.
Under the rules established by the DOT, compensation was intended to be automatic; passengers wouldn’t need to fill out lengthy claim forms or negotiate with customer service. Instead, payments and rebookings would be triggered whenever the disruption was the airline’s fault.
Airlines countered the measure from the start, warning that mandated payouts would drive up costs and ultimately push fares higher. And they have been quick to applaud the rollback decision. The trade group Airlines for America, which represents all of the major U.S. carriers—including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines, among others—argued the Biden-era requirements would raise ticket prices and add red tape.
“We are encouraged by this Department of Transportation reviewing unnecessary and burdensome regulations that exceed its authority and don’t solve issues important to our customers,” the group said in a statement on September 4.
For consumer advocates, the rollback is a gut punch. The protections had been billed as the most significant win for U.S. fliers in decades, creating automatic compensation instead of forcing travelers to fight for refunds after the fact. Without them, passengers left stranded by flight delays and cancellations will once again have to negotiate with customer service agents—or pull out their credit cards.
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who championed the original rule, responded to the reversal on social media. He pointed to the Trump administration’s DOT leadership—headed by former airline lobbyist Sean Duffy—as evidence of industry sway. President Trump “put an airline lobbyist in charge of the Department of Transportation. So no, this is not a surprise,” Buttigieg stated on X.
What the rollback means for travelers
For now, U.S. passengers are left with:
Refunds for canceled flights: This requirement still stands, though travelers may need to contact the airlines to ensure that the reimbursement is processed.
Credit card travel protections or third-party travel insurance: When the airlines won’t cover costs incurred from flight delays or cancellations, travelers should investigate the options they have through their credit card or through the travel insurance they purchased.
Without the Biden-era rule codified, airlines are left to implement their own policies regarding delayed flights, which can vary widely and are not legally enforceable. That means fliers could still find themselves stranded without compensation, even when a delay was clearly the airline’s fault, like in the case of tech issues and outages. The most reliable way to mitigate those risks is to book with a credit card that includes travel insurance or to purchase separate travel insurance coverage.
For the airlines, the rollback removes a looming financial and logistical burden. For travelers, it’s a reminder that in the U.S., air-passenger rights remain limited and inconsistent. Unless Congress acts, American fliers are once again left to fend for themselves—refreshing apps, queuing at customer-service desks, and hoping their next flight takes off on time.

The Calder Mobile Returns To Pittsburgh International Airport
I think it looks sensational. It’s one of the largest and most important mobiles. So it’s such an incredible asset for Pittsburgh to have.”
THE ALEXANDER CALDER MOBILE IS NOW INSTALLED IN THE ATRIUM OF THE NEW LANDSIDE TERMINAL AT PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. | PHOTO BY VIRGINIA LINN
That’s the assessment of Alex J. Taylor, a renowned expert on the work of Alexander Calder upon seeing the artist’s 500-pound mobile called “Pittsburgh” now installed in the atrium area of the new landside terminal of Pittsburgh International Airport. Calder created the piece for the Carnegie International in 1958, and it’s been displayed now at three different Pittsburgh airport terminals since 1959.
“It looks much more delicate in this setting than it did in its prior space,” Taylor added.
The mobile, which carries an insurance value of $12 million, was the centerpiece of the airport’s media tour on Thursday that aimed to showcase much of the new artwork that graces the new terminal — even on the outside of the five-story parking garage.
“The idea from the beginning was not to build an airport in Pittsburgh, but to build Pittsburgh’s airport,” said Christina Cassotis, airport CEO. “It needed to reflect and serve this community by bringing in the assets of the community and putting them on display for the world to see. And we know Pittsburgh punches way above its weight when it comes to arts and culture and has a rich legacy of doing so.”
There are 15 artists who have contributed their work, 80% of whom are from Pittsburgh.

Calder, a Pennsylvania native who died in 1976, had several of his mobiles displayed at airports around the country, with one of the largest still hanging at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, Taylor said. “Some of those other airports, like Dallas and Chicago, lost them,” he added.
Still, the Calder mobile has a bit of a spotted history in Pittsburgh. After it was purchased by G. David Thompson and donated to Allegheny County, the county decided — without Calder’s permission — to paint the mobile yellow and green, the official colors of Allegheny County, said Taylor, an Australian who is associate professor in the Department of History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh.
“He was very grumpy about it,” he said about Calder. Later, the mobile was painted red — an action that Calder approved — but the color came out more pink. Then, changes were made to prevent the mobile paddles from moving with the air currents. Another time, they put what Taylor called “a horrendous advertising booth” underneath the mobile.
“It was treated very poorly. It wasn’t until the 1970s that it was restored to its original colors” of black and white, like it is today.
“I think in the ’50s, airport officials probably didn’t quite understand what this thing was and the idea that they could repaint it probably didn’t seem so outrageous to them,” he said. “Of course now we understand it’s one of [Calder’s] greatest works.”
Keny Marshall, arts and culture manager at the airport, said the mobile, which had been removed from the current terminal a while ago, was in good shape and all it needed was a cleaning before they installed it last week.
Calder Gardens in Philadelphia will open to the public on September 21, 2025, following a celebratory week of special events, and you can now purchase memberships and advance tickets online. In the lead-up to its inauguration, Calder Gardens announced the September 2025 opening in January 2025, unveiled its new website and visual identity in May 2025, and in 2022, the design by Herzog & de Meuron was unveiled for the Philadelphia cultural destination.
