Long celebrated as the “Spa Capital of Asia,” Thailand blends centuries-old healing traditions with world-class facilities to deliver immersive experiences for travelers seeking balance of body, mind, and spirit. UNESCO’s recognition of Nuad Thai, traditional Thai massage, underscores the deep cultural heritage that continues to influence wellness offerings across the kingdom.

A Comprehensive Wellness Offering

From the mountain retreats of Chiang Mai to the pristine beaches of Phuket and Koh Samui, Thailand presents a diverse portfolio of wellness experiences. Visitors can enjoy luxury spa treatments, sunrise yoga on tranquil shores, or meditation retreats guided by Buddhist monks like Wat Umong in Chiangmai, Bangkok’s Buddhadasa Idapanno Archives and Pai/Mae Hong Son’s Wat Pa Tham Wua. Beyond relaxation, active wellness opportunities—such as Muay Thai fitness, cycling through national parks, or trekking in lush forests—invite travelers to recharge through movement and adventure such as Krabi’s Wareerak Hot Spring and Wellness, San Kamphaeng Hot Springs in Chiang Mai.

Thailand also stands at the forefront of medical wellness tourism, with internationally accredited hospitals and clinics that provide advanced preventive care, anti-aging treatments, and integrative therapies at globally competitive prices. This blend of trusted healthcare and leisure has made the country a preferred choice for international wellness travelers.

Wellness with Purpose

Sustainability and community connection remain central to Thailand’s wellness tourism strategy. Many resorts like Bangkok’s Patom Organic Village; Ohkajhu Organic Farm & Restaurant in Chiang Mai incorporate eco-friendly design, organic food sourcing, and local partnerships, giving visitors opportunities to nourish themselves while supporting communities and protecting natural resources. This mindful approach resonates with today’s travelers, who increasingly seek meaningful experiences aligned with their values.

Puerto Vallarta Should Be On Your List Of Wellness Destinations

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico— Enjoying oneself on a holiday does not mean abandoning one’s wellness goals. In fact, with wellness travel trending so highly lately, picking a destination that emphasize wellness is a way to marry vacation and fitness in one. Puerto Vallarta is a top destination in Mexico for wellness-minded travelers to stay in touch with their health goals while enjoying one of Mexico’s most famous beach destinations. From fitness programs, to spas, to healthy dining, and more, Puerto Vallarta is a haven for wellness travel.

Later this month, the destination will host the health and wellness “Free Soul Festival” which will take place from November 29th to December 1st and will feature world-renowned yoga and meditation instructors.

For those who cannot make it to this experience, fear not, Puerto Vallarta has health and wellness offerings year-round, including some truly spectacular hotels and spas. For visitors to Puerto Vallarta who want to incorporate pampering and holistic healing into their getaway, here are a few to know.

The Spa at The Westin Puerto Vallarta drawing upon its serene beachfront setting and featuring a wide array of soothing treatments, creating an oasis to renew the mind, body and spirit. Step into one of its seven peaceful indoor treatment rooms or listen to the sounds of the ocean with a massage in one of the property’s outdoor pergolas.

Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center’s Spa Maiavé is a holistic oasis that has been carefully designed to nurture a physical and mental experience for a balanced lifestyle. With wellness as an inspiration, it combines therapies and health techniques with the great power of natural healing and surrounding elements, including agave extracts, essential oils, floral elixirs and mud to harmonize, revitalize and relax the body and mind.

Boutique in size, with just five treatment rooms, Abja Spa at Casa Velas, sets the tone with trickling fountains, aromatherapy fragrance, and candlelit corridors. Despite its small size, it offers a robust array of services, including separate hydrotherapy areas for men and women, a spa boutique, and beauty salon. Specialized packages cater to golfers, honeymooners, executives, and more, with luxe treatments that beautify, tone, relax, and invigorate. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the well-equipped fitness center offer pleasant views of the surrounding gardens. Yoga with facial yoga exercises included is offered Monday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the garden. The resort also has two 1,350-square-foot duplex Wellness Suites that offer a plethora of fitness and wellness amenities. Casa Velas recently unveiled new spa labyrinths and meditation pods to complement its spa and Wellness Suites. Based on the four elements - Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire - four new labyrinths offer mindful meditation reflection. Several meditation pods have been added to the garden for introspection.

Then there is the Ohtli Spa at Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. This palatial paradise spans 22,000 square feet and offers treatments inspired by ancient traditions of the Huichol culture. The signature treatment is the "Rebirth" Therapy session, which is performed in a pool of warm water. There is also a Hydrating Tequila Coconut body treatment that combines the nation's signature product with local fruit to restore the hydration of the skin. Guests visiting the spa have access to a variety of hot and cold plunge pools to help stimulate and invigorate the senses before and after their treatment.

Outdoor enthusiasts can always find something to do in Puerto Vallarta, whether it’s hiking, biking, or yoga on the beach. The mountains that frame the city are veined with hiking trails that lead back into the jungle or spill out to secret beaches and waterfalls. Cyclists can hit the pavement or the sand on two wheels with one of the many bike rental companies in the city, like Puerto Vallarta Cycling or PVBikes.

And if it's yoga you're after, there are a variety of yoga studies and retreats within the area. One of the best yoga escapes is Xinalani, which offers an eight-day Ultimate Beach Yoga Retreat, packed with wellness-minded activities, healthy food, space to disconnect, and, of course, plenty of yoga. For something less immersive, Puerto Vallarta has many yoga studies in the city, like Davanna Yoga, which offers Vinyasa, Hatha, Morning Yoga, meditation, and even yoga teacher training courses. Visit The Yogi Bar in the Marina or Kupuri Yoga on the Malecon to practice some of these teachings.

Finally, just because it is a vacation doesn't mean that the diet has to go out the window. Indulging may be part of the fun but staying true to your clean eating goals is also important. Puerto Vallarta has fantastic dining, and health food is no exception. Salud Super Food, for example, is one of the city's best spots for fresh, clean eating. Located in the Zona Romantica, the natural food cafe serves salads, smoothies, healthy tacos, light breakfasts, wraps, and vegan specialties. Also, in the Zona Romantica is Barra Light, a vegan-friendly restaurant that serves breakfasts, organic salads, sandwiches, smoothies, and juices. Other places to check out are Planeta Vegetariano, The Green Place, Playa Detox and The Yogi Bar

So, when it comes to staying fit and wellness-minded when on vacation, it really comes down to the destination you choose. It’s possible to have that gluten-free cake and eat it, too, especially when visiting Puerto Vallarta.

Kickstart your Healthy New Year's Resolutions on a Dominican Republic Fitness Getaway #GoDomRep

From nature trekking to yoga retreats; vacationing in Dominican Republic will get your heart pumping

- Dominican Republic's all-inclusive resorts and world-class, white-sand beaches beckon travelers
from all over the globe for rest and relaxation. But with the new year calling – and new fitness
resolutions for 2017 – travelers should consider jetting to Dominican Republic for a fitness or
wellness getaway. From outdoor activities and wellness retreats to luxurious hotel gyms, there
are exercise options for every type of fitness getaway this winter.

"Dominican Republic's wide range of travel options and activities may surprise travelers. Our country
is so versatile, not only are we the premier destination for beach vacations, but we have the natural
playground and high-quality service perfect for a fitness trip," said Magaly Toribio, marketing advisor
for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism. "There are so many exciting attractions to explore, you
will stay active no matter where your trip takes you."

Home to both the highest and lowest points above sea level in the Caribbean, the boundless array
of outdoor activities will keep your muscles moving. For travelers looking for something less rigorous,
yoga classes can be found in tucked-away bungalows. With so much to keep you moving on a
wellness getaway in Dominican Republic, you can save the R&R for home.

Hiking Up a Sweat
Dominican Republic's lush greenery and impressive mountain views can't be found in any gym, so
skip the treadmill and opt for a nature walk or hike. The country's most rigorous hike, Pico Duarte,
located in the central part of the county, is the highest peak in the Caribbean. Reaching an elevation
of 10,125 feet, travelers can embark on a two-, three- or four-day trek to the top that is sure to
challenge people of all fitness levels. The hike offers views of varying landscapes from tropical
 trees to cloud forests.
Another popular hike is through the Ébano Verde Scientific Reserve, which is also located in the
central area of Constanza. Hiking through the stunning Ébano Verde Scientific Reserve, which is
also used for environmental research, is more than just a cardio workout; it will keep your mind
active with access to spotting 600 different species of flowers and plants and more than 100
different types of birds. The town of Constanza also recently added a bicycling route that showcases
local plantations and educates visitors on the growth of local crops. So, whether you travel on foot
or bike, Constanza is worth the stop.

After a hike, visit the Monument of the Pyramids in Constanza, an ecological and tourism destination
located at an elevation of 7,217 feet in Valle Nuevo National Park. The Constanza area is bordered by
four national parks, so there's also plenty of wide-open space for pitching a tent and spending a
night under the stars. Since Constanza is a mountainous region, its naturally cool temperatures
offer brisk sleeping weather perfect for camping.

Hotel Gyms That Carry Their Weight
Dominican Republic's high-quality hotels cater to a traveler's every need, so it's no surprise that
hotels are equipped with impressive, full-service gyms. Having access to a gym in your hotel
means there's no excuse for leaving those running shoes at home. What's more – many resorts
offer group exercise programs so travelers don't have to feel the guilt of missing their morning
exercise class. Plenty of the all-inclusive resorts provide group fitness classes like kickboxing, boot
camp or group cardio sessions on the beach.

It's also common for popular fitness experts to bring their classes to hotels so vacationers can try a
new and exciting fitness class on their trip. Les Mills, the world's largest provider of movement-to-music
fitness, offers group classes at one of Punta Cana's newest all-inclusives. Another trendy workout
experience, FloYo, the practice of yoga on floating paddleboards, has made its way to a Dominican
Republic hotel, providing travelers no shortage of new and exciting exercise classes.
Still looking for more at your hotel? Try going for a run along the beach. Dominican Republic's
white-sand coastline goes on for nearly 1,000 miles, which means there's more than enough
beachline for a morning run.

Exercising Your Mind on a Wellness Retreat
A rising travel trend, wellness retreats offer travelers a chance to forget about the busyness back
home and focus on exercising their mind, body and soul. Yoga retreats can be found throughout
the country, but are especially popular in the lush ecotourism hotspot of Samaná. The area's
breathtaking landscape, complete with waterfalls, mountains and mangroves, provides the
perfect balance of nature and tranquility for a yoga retreat. Travelers can also opt for a yoga
class on the beach to unwind. Sometimes, taking a deep breath is just what the doctor ordered.
Classes and retreats welcome yogis of all levels and practices, including acro, ashtanga,
ahtah, asan and more. Some wellness retreats even provide health professionals for a
complete wellness experience. There are also several meditation centers that offer more
wellness retreats to help with pain issues and/or stress management.
So whether you are searching for meditation, spirituality or strength training on your wellness
getaway, Dominican Republic has it all.
