United Airlines Unveils Largest International Expansion In Airline History For 2027

United Airlines has unveiled the largest international expansion in its history, adding 10 brand-new overseas destinations for the summer 2027 season. Eight of the newly announced cities have zero nonstop service from any other U.S. carrier, extending United’s lead as the largest American carrier across both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Key Expansion Highlights

  • The Airbus A321XLR Era: Five transatlantic routes—including Luxembourg, Toulouse, Marseille, Ibiza, and Valencia—will be flown on United's new Airbus A321XLR aircraft, featuring custom lie-flat United Polaris suites with doors, free Starlink Wi-Fi, and 4K OLED screens.
  • Exclusive Gateways: United becomes the only U.S. carrier flying nonstop to destinations like Ljubljana (Slovenia), Okinawa (Japan), and Toulouse (France).
  • Newark Anchors the East: Eight of the ten new international cities depart from United's primary transatlantic hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

Additional Long-Haul Additions

Alongside the 10 new market entries, United is boosting capacity to high-demand global centers across its existing network:

  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Osaka, Japan (KIX): Daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flights launching March 27, 2027.
  • Denver (DEN) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG): Daily nonstop Boeing 787 service starting May 27, 2027.
  • Washington Dulles (IAD) to Milan Malpensa (MXP): 3x weekly Boeing 767 service launching May 28, 2027.
  • San Francisco (SFO) to Tel Aviv (TLV): Resuming 3x weekly service aboard Boeing 787-9 starting March 28, 2027.

By deploying extra-long-range narrowbody aircraft like the A321XLR on niche secondary markets and widebodies across key trunk routes, United continues to pioneer nonstop routes that bypass congested European hubs.
