United Airlines is expanding its West Coast presence by introducing two key domestic routes from its major hub at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The expansion brings back daily service to Cincinnati and introduces a brand-new connection to South Florida.

Operating over 570 daily flights to more than 100 destinations from SFO, United continues to solidify San Francisco as its primary West Coast and transpacific gateway. Coming off its largest summer schedule ever at SFO, these fall route additions strengthen options for both corporate and leisure travelers.

Supported in part by the JobsOhio Air Service Restoration Program, the route is projected to generate roughly $36.4 million in annual economic impact for the Cincinnati region. It also offers Midwest travelers streamlined single-stop connections to United's vast transpacific network across Asia and Australia through its San Francisco hub.

"This gives travelers in the tri-state region direct access to the West Coast and from there, convenient access to destinations across the Pacific through United's San Francisco hub."

— Mark Weithofer, Managing Director of Domestic Network Planning at United Airlines

Sunshine & Tech: SFO to Palm Beach Nonstop

Beginning November 7, 2026, United will launch its first-ever nonstop service between SFO and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI / DJT). Operating weekly on Saturdays through early April 2027, this represents the very first direct connection between the two airports.

U.S. Department of Transportation data indicates strong demand for this route, with over 25,000 round-trip passengers flying between San Francisco and West Palm Beach over the past year despite having to take connecting flights. The flight caters to business executives, luxury vacationers, and winter travel demand.

United Airlines Unveils Major Flight Expansion At Newark Hub

United Airlines Unveils Major Flight Expansion at Newark Hub

United Airlines is doubling down on its East Coast flagship hub. In a massive network announcement, the carrier has unveiled a substantial expansion out of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), introducing new nonstop domestic and international routes alongside boosted daily frequencies on top-performing sectors.

The expansion cements Newark's position as United's primary transatlantic gateway, providing tri-state travelers with unprecedented direct access to key business capitals, emerging leisure hot spots, and seamless one-stop connections across the globe.

Connecting the Globe: Key Transatlantic & Transpacific Additions

As international demand continues to shatter pre-pandemic benchmarks, United is deploying additional widebody aircraft to expand its transatlantic schedule out of Newark:

  • Expanded European Horizons: Increased seasonal and year-round frequencies to major Western European gateways including London Heathrow, Paris CDG, and Frankfurt.
  • Niche Transatlantic Routes: Additional direct service to high-demand Mediterranean and Southern European destinations, making summer getaways smoother.
  • Enhanced Premium Upgrades: Increased deployment of Boeing 787 Dreamliners and retrofitted Boeing 767 aircraft featuring United Polaris® business class suites and Premium Plus cabins.

UNITED AIRLINES NEWARK EXPANSION OVERVIEW

  • Primary Hub: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
  • Focus Areas: Transatlantic Frequencies, Domestic Regional Connections
  • Aircraft Upgrades: Expanded Boeing 787 Dreamliner & Premium-Heavy 767 Operations
  • Passenger Benefits: Streamlined Terminal C Transfers & Expanded Polaris Lounge Access

Strengthening Domestic Feeders

An international expansion is only as strong as the domestic feeder system behind it. To ensure travelers from across North America can seamlessly connect to transatlantic flights, United is boosting flight options to medium and major U.S. markets:

  • Increased Daily Frequencies: More hourly shuttle-style flights to key corporate hubs like Chicago O'Hare, Washington Dulles, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
  • Regional Route Boost: Additional United Express flights linking smaller East Coast and Midwest cities directly to Newark Terminal C.
Travelore Pro-Tip: Transatlantic travelers departing from Newark Terminal C can take advantage of United's dedicated Polaris Lounge—featuring restaurant-style dining, quiet suites, and private shower facilities—for an elevated pre-flight routine.

What This Means for Travelers

With increased flight frequencies and new route additions, passengers traveling through Newark will benefit from greater schedule flexibility, better award availability, and more competitive pricing on competitive international corridors.

As United continues to upgrade its Newark infrastructure and onboard amenities, flying through EWR remains one of the fastest and most convenient ways to cross the Atlantic.
