The owner of several Ritz‑Carlton properties is moving ahead with plans to sell its flagship hotels in New York City and Washington, D.C., marking one of the most notable luxury‑hotel shakeups of the year.
Ritz Carlton Central Park
Real estate investment firm Westbrook Partners has already completed the sale of The Ritz‑Carlton New York, Central Park to Miami‑based hospitality investor Gencom. Meanwhile, the firm is close to finalizing a deal to sell The Ritz‑Carlton Washington, D.C. to Trinity Investments, another major player in high‑end hotel acquisitions.
The transactions highlight continued investor appetite for luxury urban hotels, even as the broader commercial real estate market faces pressure. Ritz‑Carlton will continue to manage both properties under long‑term agreements, meaning guests should expect brand continuity despite the ownership change.
Industry analysts say the sales reflect a strategic portfolio shift by Westbrook and a growing trend of capital flowing into iconic, well‑located hospitality assets

This Iconic Jamaica Resort Is Back Again, With Ralph Lauren-Designed Rooms, Staffed Villas, And Timeless Charm
One of Jamaica’s most storied hotels is officially back. Round Hill Hotel and Villas has reopened, welcoming guests once again to its private peninsula just west of Montego Bay and marking the return of a property that has long set the standard for charming Caribbean luxury. The reopening brings a full revival of the resort’s accommodations, dining, beach and wellness offerings, restoring a landmark that has shaped Jamaica’s tourism identity for decades.
A villa pool at Round Hill.
The announcement was shared with a message that reflected the significance: “The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here: Round Hill Hotel is officially ready to welcome you, our doors are open, and our hearts are full.” It signals not just a reopening, but a return to form for a resort whose appeal has always rested on continuity, discretion and place.
And yes, it really is open — the property even hosted a wedding this past weekend, a sign that it’s firing on all cylinders.
Set on a secluded stretch of coastline, Round Hill resumes operations with the same low-density layout and emphasis on privacy that have defined the property since its early days. The reopening reinforces Jamaica’s position at the high end of the Caribbean market, where legacy resorts are increasingly valued for their authenticity, heritage and restraint.
The Resort
Round Hill’s accommodations include oceanfront rooms and a collection of private villas spread across the hillside above the bay. While the historic buildings themselves reflect the resort’s original architecture, the interiors of the guest rooms were designed by Ralph Lauren, giving them a residential feel defined by clean lines, crisp palettes and an enduring sense of ease. The focus remains on the setting, with wide views of the Caribbean anchoring nearly every space.
The villas are a defining feature of the resort and have long been part of its allure. Each villa is fully staffed, typically including a cook, housekeeper and gardener, allowing guests to experience a level of privacy and service that feels closer to a private estate than a traditional hotel stay. Many of the villas come with private pools, expansive terraces and sweeping sea views, making them ideal for longer stays and multigenerational travel.
Over the years, these villas have hosted a remarkable list of guests, contributing to Round Hill’s quiet celebrity legacy. Past visitors have included figures such as John F. Kennedy, who famously spent time here before his inauguration, along with writers, musicians and actors drawn to the resort’s discretion and sense of remove. The atmosphere has always favored privacy over spectacle, allowing notable guests to blend seamlessly into the rhythm of the property.
So how do you choose between the rooms and the villas? Honestly, it’s hard. I will admit that on one trip my family and I actually started in a villa and then extended our trip to stay in one of the rooms for a few days. We loved both.
What We Like
Round Hill’s reopening restores a version of Jamaica that feels increasingly rare. This is a resort defined by proportion and permanence, where space, privacy and service take precedence over trends. The fully staffed villas remain one of the strongest draws, offering a deeply personal experience that works equally well for couples seeking seclusion or families traveling together.
The beach continues to anchor the stay. Sheltered waters, a gently curving shoreline and a setting framed by palms give the property a sense of continuity that regular guests recognize immediately. Dining, spa and wellness offerings round out the experience without overwhelming it, reinforcing the idea that Round Hill succeeds by knowing exactly what it is — and by staying true to it.
How To Get There
Round Hill is located approximately 30 minutes from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay (which is open and operating again, too). Transfers are straightforward, and the drive along Jamaica’s north coast provides a clear transition from the bustle of town to the resort’s private peninsula.
What It Costs to Stay Here
Rooms are about $1,312 per night right now, according to Google Hotels, in line with what you’d expect for mid-December.

Family Of West Virginia Governor Has Deal To Avoid Greenbrier Hotel Foreclosure
The family of West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has reached an agreement with a credit collection company to avoid the foreclosure of their historic hotel as he runs for U.S. Senate, the resort announced Thursday.
The Republican governor’s family had been set to appear in court Friday to ask a judge to halt the auction of The Greenbrier resort’s hotel, which had been scheduled for Tuesday. That hearing has been canceled.
“It’s taken care of, and we move forward, and The Greenbrier is as whole as it can possibly be,” Justice said at a news briefing. “The Greenbrier is going to be in our family forevermore.”
The 710-room hotel has hosted U.S. presidents, royalty and congressional retreats. The resort held a PGA Tour golf tournament from 2010 until 2019 and has welcomed NFL teams for training camp and practices. A once-secret 112,000-square-foot (10,080-square-meter) underground bunker built for Congress at the Greenbrier in case of nuclear attack during the Cold War now hosts tours.
The hotel came under threat of auction after JPMorgan Chase sold a longstanding loan taken out by the governor to a credit collection company, McCormick 101 — a subsidiary of Beltway Capital — which declared it to be in default. In a statement, the Justice family said it had reached an agreement with Beltway Capital to “receive a specific amount to be paid in full by October 24, 2024.”
The family said it had already secured the money, although the Justices did not specify the amount.
“Beltway reserves its rights if the Justice family fails to perform,” the statement reads.
A message left with Beltway Capital wasn’t immediately returned Thursday.
Justice defended his family’s business practices at Thursday’s briefing and repeated past claims that JPMorgan Chase’s sale of The Greenbrier loan was a politically motivated effort to hurt his U.S. Senate campaign.
“We had a 14-year working relationship with JPMorgan, and then shortly after the primary where I was the winner — hands down, you’re going to the U.S. Senate, no matter what anybody says under the sun — it makes, it made, total no sense other than political, it made no sense at all,” he said.
Justice said that his family had made payments on the JPMorgan loan as recently as June and that it was notified the loan had been sold in July without prior warning. JPMorgan Chase did not respond to an email seeking comment.
If the hotel had been sold, Justice said, “there would have been carnage and devastation like you can’t imagine to the great people of The Greenbrier,” referring to jobs that could have been lost.
The auction, which had been set to occur at a courthouse Tuesday in the small city of Lewisburg, involved 60.5 acres, including the hotel and parking lot.
Justice family attorneys filed a motion this week for a preliminary injunction to try to halt the auction of The Greenbrier. They claimed that a 2014 deed of trust approved by the governor was defective because JPMorgan didn’t obtain consent from the Greenbrier Hotel Corp.'s directors or owners, and that auctioning the property violates the company’s obligation to act in “good faith and deal fairly” with the corporation.
They also argued, in part, that the auction would harm the economy and threaten hundreds of jobs.
About 400 employees at The Greenbrier hotel received notice this week from an attorney for the health care provider Amalgamated National Health Fund saying they would lose coverage Tuesday, the scheduled date of the auction, unless the Justice family paid $2.4 million in missing contributions.
Peter Bostic, a union official with the Workers United Mid-Atlantic Regional Joint Board, said that the Justice family hasn’t contributed to employees’ health fund in four months, and that an additional $1.2 million in contributions will soon be due, according to the letter the board received from Ronald Richman, an attorney with Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, the firm representing the fund.
The letter also said some contributions were taken out of employees’ paychecks but never transferred to the fund, concerning union officials.
Justice dismissed concerns about the claims Thursday, telling reporters that “insurance payments were made and were being made on a regular basis.”
“There is no way that the great union employees at The Greenbrier are going to go without insurance,” he said. “There is no possible way.”
Justice is running for U.S. Senate against Democrat Glenn Elliott, a former mayor of Wheeling. Justice, who owns dozens of companies and had a net worth estimated at $513 million by Forbes Magazine in 2021, has been accused in court cases of being late in paying millions for family business debts and fines for unsafe working conditions at his coal mines.
He began serving the first of his two terms as governor in 2017, after buying The Greenbrier out of bankruptcy in 2009.
Justice’s family also owns The Greenbrier Sporting Club, a private luxury community with a members-only “resort within a resort.” That property was scheduled to be auctioned off this year in an attempt by Carter Bank & Trust of Martinsville, Virginia, to recover more than $300 million in business loans defaulted by the governor’s family, but a court battle delayed that process.

The Peninsula Hotels' Celebrated Global Art Programme,"Art In Resonance" Returns
The Peninsula, whose worldwide properties have long held partnerships with luminaries in the arts, has announced the return of its "Art in Resonance" programme, opening during Hong Kong Art Week. The relaunch will kick off with a collection of newly commissioned artworks from visionaries Kingsley Ng and Lachlan Turczan, which will be exhibited alongside pieces from The Peninsula's collection at the group's iconic Hong Kong flagship property. The exhibition will be open to the public.
Originally introduced by The Peninsula in 2019 in collaboration with its global cultural advisors Isolde Brielmaier and Bettina Prentice, "Art in Resonance" won wide acclaim for offering guests deeply immersive experiences in its hotels' respective destination cities. At its root, the commission-based art programme is designed to support the cultural eco-system by providing emerging artists with the funding, curatorial support and logistical capabilities that allow them to produce significant new public artworks.
"We are thrilled to bring back Art in Resonance, which has allowed our guests to engage with some of the world's most innovative artistic minds," said Gareth Roberts, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, The Peninsula's parent company. "It is particularly exciting to relaunch the programme in Hong Kong, a city that has experienced such a resurgence in vitality and creative energy."
A Dynamic, Thought-Provoking Exhibition
Starting in late March, visitors to The Peninsula Hong Kong will discover an inspiring collection of works. The first they will encounter is Hong Kong local Kingsley Ng's (b. 1980, Hong Kong) monumental sculpture Esmeralda, which will hover over the hotel's iconic façade. Ng describes the installation as "undulating between the physics of gravity and the buoyancy of air." According to the celebrated artist, the piece – named for one of Italo Calvino's fictional locations from his 1972 novel 'Invisible Cities' – is meant to be in dialogue with Hong Kong itself.
Also greeting guests this spring will be Lachlan Turczan's (b. 1993, Los Angeles) newly commissioned Harmonic Resonance - a kinetic sculpture that provides a mesmerising exploration of visible sound. The work features a parabolic mirror measuring over 1.6m in diameter will shape a shallow pool of water with a series of choreographed infrasonic tones that invite audience engagement. The low-frequency tones cause oscillating patterns to form on the surface of the pool – some of which appear to move in stop-motion.
Elise Morin's (b. 1978, Paris, France) glittering sculptural work SOLI, originally commissioned in 2019, has been significantly expanded by the artist especially for the Hong Kong exhibition. The work is newly augmented with an additional 4,000 crushed CDs - pulverized according to the security grade of their content. Morin's piece, resembling a whale breaching the ocean's surface, is a quiet commentary on the material burden of objects.
Another inspiring work included in the exhibit is Saya Woolfalk's (b. 1979, Gifu, Japan) Visionary Reality Portal, a digital portal for meditation and the contemplation of other worlds. The colourful, kaleidoscopic and multisensory video installation will be housed in a purpose-built room off street-level and open to the public. The piece, originally debuted at The Peninsula Paris in 2019, has also been further developed by the renowned Japanese-American artist to connect with viewers in Hong Kong.
"Giving artists like Elise Morin and Saya Woolfalk the freedom to further develop their pieces is one of the tenets of the Art in Resonance programme," said Bettina Prentice, co-curator of the Hong Kong exhibition. "Nothing is static - The Peninsula offers all of the programme's artists the opportunity to let their ideas evolve."
A Commitment to Contemporary Arts
The Peninsula has been committed to promoting the rich and vibrant cultural aspects of its properties' destination cities for generations by inviting its guests to engage with art through numerous channels. The group has hosted artist residencies; mounted enriching and culturally representative exhibits, talks, and symposia; and offered studio visits and workshops with local creators whose work exemplifies the distinctive flavour and energy of their home cities.
"Working with The Peninsula has been an extraordinary experience for me," said Kingsley Ng. "I feel privileged by the chance to partner with such a venerable brand, and to showcase my work to viewers in my cherished home city."
The exhibition artworks will remain at The Peninsula Hong Kong through May; after which they will travel regularly to other Peninsula properties, and be joined by additional, newly commissioned installations from local artists. For the duration of the exhibit, The Peninsula Hong Kong will offer visitors free access to all pieces, as well as guided tours, special dining experiences and other activations to highlight and pay homage to the artists and to the renewed vibrancy of the city.

Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai will soar 44 storeys high with 160 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, anticipated to welcome guests in 2027. Located along the iconic Huaihai Zhong Road within the Huangpu district of Puxi, the Hotel will be at the heart of the city's shopping, dining and entertainment hub, where neighbourhoods are characterized by neoclassical villas that celebrate Shanghai's modern creativity and Art Deco heritage architecture.
"The return of Four Seasons to Shanghai will present a new luxury hospitality offering that captures the vibrant character of this world-class city," says Bart Carnahan, President, Global Business Development, Portfolio Management and Residential, Four Seasons. "As we expand our portfolio in China, Shanghai has maintained its position as one of the most important markets for luxury travellers. To offer guests an immersive local experience, Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai will include thoughtfully conserved and restored traditional lane houses known as Shikumen (石库门) at the base of the development. Distinguished by high brick walls and strong gateways with elaborate lintels, the unassuming exterior of the Shikumen reveals beautiful, traditional Chinese dwellings on the interior. A respite from the energy and allure that permeates Shanghai, the new Four Seasons Hotel will capture the essence of this historic, residential-style architecture through locally sourced material, verdant courtyards with native greenery and much more.
Adding to the growing collection of more than 600 unique restaurants and bars across the company's global portfolio, Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai will introduce five new original culinary concepts. From the Hotel's signature Shanghai seafood restaurant featuring the contemporary flair and traditional character of the destination to a vibrant Italian trattoria with open kitchens and all-day service for patrons and their discerning palates, Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai is well-positioned to complement the city's dynamic culinary scene. Further enhanced by the Hotel's inviting lobby bar, open-air Chinese tea lounge and patisserie, each outlet will naturally welcome guests into the ever-evolving world of Four Seasons.

We are very excited to welcome local residents and international visitors to experience this exceptional property and to enjoy The Peninsula's sophisticated hospitality and service in one of the world's most dynamic cities."
London's Finest Address
With architecture conceived to gracefully harmonise with the heritage buildings of Belgravia, The Peninsula London also embodies a sleek, spacious aesthetic that floods its exquisite, Peter Marino-designed interiors with natural light. The hotel, along with 25 opulent luxury residences, centres around an expansive, off-street courtyard, landscaped in the style of a classic English garden with cascading ivy, wisteria vines, and 120-year-old Japanese maples allowing for a graceful and easy off-street arrival along with valet parking and underground garage. Many of the city's most iconic attractions, including Buckingham Palace, The Royal Parks, The Palace of Westminster, Harrods and the boutiques of Bond Street are less than a 15-minute-walk away – though guests can also opt for transport in one of the hotel's luxury chauffeured cars.
Exquisite Accommodations and Event Venues
The Peninsula London's 190, understatedly luxurious guest rooms (from 51 – 59-sq-m/549 – 635-sq-ft) and suites feature bespoke furnishings, textiles, and artworks that evoke the feel of chic private residences. All include mahogany-panelled dressing rooms, exquisite bathrooms of honey onyx, and customised fittings crafted by renowned British artisans; many have floor-to ceiling-windows with unparalleled views over Wellington Arch and historic Belgravia.
Equally impressive are the hotel's numerous special-event venues opening later this year, which include the sweeping pillarless St. George Ballroom (with back-of-house elevators large enough for motorcars), and other gathering spaces ranging from capacious and configurable conference rooms to an intimate private cinema. All are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the attentive service of the hotel's special-event staff.
Premier Cuisine, Wellness, and Shopping
World-class dining and drinks can be enjoyed at The Peninsula London's stylishly refined restaurants, bars, and lounges. The hotel's signature rooftop restaurant, Brooklands, offers Modern British cuisine from Michelin-starred Chef Director Claude Bosi, as well as top-flight libations, a tasting lounge and cigar storage helmed by Manu Harit, certified "Master of Havana Cigars," in a collection of spaces inspired by classic British aviation and motorsport. At Canton Blue and its adjacent bar, Little Blue, innovative Chinese cuisine, cocktails, teas, and exotic décor celebrate the spice-trade union of Asian and British cultures. And at The Lobby, traditional Peninsula Afternoon Tea and globally inspired fare are served beneath soaring ceilings, and often accompanied by live music. A more casual offering, including fresh-made salads, sandwiches, and sweets, is available throughout the day at The Peninsula Boutique and Café.
A diverse array of relaxation and well-being choices are available to guests later this year at The Peninsula London – including an extensive menu of mind-body therapies at the hotel's Spa and Wellness Centre, exercise classes and workshops offered at the fully equipped modern fitness centre, and swimming in a dramatically lit 25-m indoor swimming pool. A dedicated digital Wellness Portal also provides guests with in-room, round-the-clock access to wellness programming.
For guests who enjoy high-end shopping, the hotel's ground-floor retail arcade entices with nine luxury boutiques such as Asprey London, DMR – David M Robinson Jewellery and Watches, Mouawad, Moussaieff Diamond and a floral shop. Also, The Peninsula London will be home to Topaz Detailing, one of the world's most exclusive detailing and paint protection film specialist for supercars, offering their first location in Central London.
"Best of British" Craftsmanship
The Peninsula London's superbly curated and quintessentially British aesthetic is the result of exclusive collaborations with some of the country's most acclaimed artists and creators. Four Seasons Hotel Boston Reopens, Revealing A Dramatic Lobby Transformation, Intimate New Restaurant And New Signature Amenities For Guests Of All Ages
Just in time for spring and the reawakening of Boston's iconic Public Garden, Four Seasons Hotel Boston has reopened its doors, welcoming guests to a new era of gracious hospitality. The city's premier address has completed a dramatic design update of its arrival area, lobby and porte cochere, revealing artful and inspired new spaces created in partnership with AD100 designer Ken Fulk. This revitalization sets the stage for a new generation of guest experiences, unforgettable events and cherished memories.
"We are delighted to begin the next chapter of Four Seasons Hotel Boston and introduce an updated vision of luxury that evokes the character and rich history of Back Bay," said Michael Pedder, General Manager, Four Seasons Hotel Boston. "We look forward to welcoming guests to our reimagined hotel."
A Grand Hotel Experience on an Intimate Scale
Years in the making, Four Seasons Hotel Boston's transformation blends the timelessness of the hotel with the grandeur of its verdant Public Garden setting. Drawing inspiration from the elegant homes of neighboring Beacon Hill and Back Bay, where old meets new, Fulk envisioned the hotel as a great residence overlooking stately grounds. He designed a new arrival experience that visually links the hotel to the historic garden on its doorstep. Guests are now greeted in a black-and-white-tiled entry court, enhanced with plantings and lanterns that lead them into the sanctuary of the new lobby.
Four Seasons Hotel Boston's redesigned interiors welcome guests with a new sense of intimacy. The wide lobby has been masterfully reimagined as a series of smaller spaces that are grand, yet residential in scale. A new front desk crafted in tooled leather stands beneath an expansive original artwork depicting the Public Garden. A mural drawn in Impressionist style with a nod to Maxfield Parrish features the Garden's flora and fauna, with willows, elm and oak trees surrounding the lagoon, where swan boats glide under the Foot Bridge and one swan holds a key. The key is a clue to a hidden, fanciful mystery closet next to the front desk. Upon their arrival, young guests are handed a large "kids-only" key to the closet and invited to select their own toys for an enchanting beginning to their Four Seasons Hotel Boston stay.
Spaces for Gracious Living, Day into Evening
Hotel guests will discover a collection of lobby-level spaces to enjoy from early morning until late evening. One of the newest is Coterie, a new lounge and restaurant open daily for dinner and bar service, with lunch to follow soon. Conceived as a place for intimate conversation and a retreat from the world outside, Coterie is inspired by Boston's centuries-old tradition of thinkers and creators gathering to share ideas and socialize. Elevated traditional fare created by Executive Chef Patrice Martineau will be complemented by a selection of classic and signature cocktails, some featuring a custom botanical gin created exclusively for Four Seasons Hotel Boston, and honey from the hotel's rooftop hives. Here, Fulk's design evokes a charming estate, richly layered and decorated with a gallery of hand-drawn botanical illustrations and portraits of writers and artists, a soft color palette inspired by garden florals, all accented with vintage lighting and anchored by a zinc-topped bar with leather and brass details.
Opposite Coterie is the Library, a quiet respite offering rich velvet seating accented in silk fringe, where guests can wait for a friend or sit back with a classic cocktail and select from the bookshelves, curated to evoke a collection gathered by a family through the generations. Coffee-lovers and early risers will delight in Sottovento, a glamorous gourmet coffee bar serving made-to-order specialty coffee, tea and beverages – complimentary – every morning, alongside a selection of pastries and light refreshments. Using the hotel's new Coffee Concierge service, in-house guests of Four Seasons Hotel Boston can place their custom coffee order seamlessly using the Four Seasons mobile app to have it delivered to their room or ready to collect.
Making a return to Four Seasons Hotel Boston this month is Aujourd'hui, the second-floor breakfast and lunch restaurant with its hallmark floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic Public Garden views. Sanctuary, a quiet, sixth-floor garden terrace, also makes its debut this month, offering guests a rare private courtyard in the city for quiet reading or enjoying in-room dining al fresco. Also making its return with the hotel's reopening: The Vaults, refreshment pantries on every guest room floor of the hotel, stocked with snacks, treats and beverages, all complimentary to hotel guests and available 24 hours a day.
For more information or to book a reservation at Four Seasons Hotel Boston, please visit http://www.fourseasons.com/boston/ or call 1 (617) 338-4400.

Four Seasons Continues Middle Eastern Expansion With Island Resort On Sindalah In NEOM, Saudi Arabia
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the world's leading luxury hospitality company, and Hotel Development, the NEOM division that is responsible for building a future-centric hospitality ecosystem in the developing region, have announced plans for a new luxury resort as part of the NEOM master project, located on Sindalah Island.
Extending over an area of approximately 840,000 square metres (9,041,684 square feet), Sindalah is one of a group of islands in the Red Sea that will be developed in NEOM, each according to its unique vision and design. In addition to the upcoming Four Seasons resort, Sindalah will be home to a luxury marina and yacht club, 9-hole golf course with 18 pin experiences and a vast array of dining destinations. It will also host sophisticated cultural events, grand sporting spectacles and glamorous social celebrations throughout the year.
"Four Seasons upcoming resort in NEOM will be a one-of-a-kind project, blending the natural wonders of the Red Sea with the future-forward technologies on which this new, exciting destination is being built," says Bart Carnahan, President, Global Business Development and Portfolio Management, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "We are proud to be part of the ambitious vision that our partners at NEOM have for transforming the future of hospitality in the region and look forward to welcoming guests to discover a new part of the Kingdom."
The Resort will feature 225 guest rooms and suites with terraces overlooking the beaches of the Red Sea, as well as 52 villas with one to four-bedroom configurations with plunge pools and beach views, and with the Presidential and Royal Villas offering private swimming pools, gyms and access to private yacht docks. The Resort architecture is being led by LUCA DINI Design & Architecture, with interiors for guest rooms and public areas by RBTA and LW Design respectively.
"Sindalah follows NEOM's vision and purpose of mitigating the impact of unchecked urban development, while protecting and regenerating the rich natural capital of the region. In terms of hospitality, our goal is to shape a new frontier for the industry, and Four Seasons is the perfect partner to work alongside towards this," says Chris Newman, Executive Director, Hotel Development at NEOM. "While NEOM will have something for every kind of traveller, the Resort on Sindalah will be perfect for those looking to rest, relax and explore in the beautiful setting of the Red Sea, while enjoying the service that Four Seasons has built an incredible global reputation on."
While visiting the Resort, guests can choose from four unique culinary experiences, as well as several lounges, in addition to the other dining options on Sindalah. Four Seasons will also offer an expansive spa experience with varying treatment rooms, relaxation lounges, a hammam and vitality pool. For those looking for an active getaway, guests will have access to a fitness centre, multiple indoor and outdoor pools, and a variety of water activities such as water skiing, kite surfing, windsurfing and more. For Gabriel Escarrer, "The result of combining the inspirational leadership of Rafa Nadal and the international experience of more than 65 years of Meliá in creating luxury hotels and in hotel management, is the unique brand we present today, which travellers are going to love and which will surprise the new generations. An innovative hotel brand, full of energy, with a new interpretation of well-being and a sustainable business model. We are happy to finally be able to announce our partnership in this project with an icon on both a personal and sporting level such as Rafa."
For Rafael Nadal, "As a Spaniard, a Mallorcan and a global traveller, the launch of our hotel brand is a project that I have had in mind for a long while. ZEL is synonymous with feeling good at all times, enjoying life and the way we live it throughout the Mediterranean. I was really attracted from the start to this new concept we have been working on with Meliá. I'm confident that ZEL will be a great success and will achieve considerable growth and be enjoyed by all of those travellers who stay in the hotels, which in the end is the reason we are creating it."
The growth plan foresees the addition of more than 20 hotels in 5 years, focusing on destinations that attract premium-quality leisure travellers, and on "bleisure" hotels in the key regions in which Meliá Hotels International operates in Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia. In a first stage, the brand aims to grow in destinations on the Mediterranean coast and in capital cities such as Madrid, Paris and London, but the first ZEL hotel will open in Mallorca in 2023.
ZEL: a celebration of the Mediterranean lifestyle.
The project is based on the positioning of both brands as ambassadors of Mediterranean values and lifestyle: a passion for the outdoors, delicious cuisine, a focus on architecture and design to provide spacious and bright spaces, with the priority being a connection with nature, the sky and the sea. ZEL hotel guests will be able to take care of both body and soul through wellbeing experiences that they will be able to organise as they wish, with both personal and group activities for physical exercise and fitness.
ZEL offers an inspiring new home-away-from-home experience that evokes the Mediterranean way of life, with a courtyard at the heart of the hotel which acts as a focus for the flow and connection. The patio is an architectural feature that is prominent throughout the Mediterranean, and will lead to other spaces such as terraces, rooftop areas or beach clubs that will be the venues for life in the open air, and where guests can admire panoramic views of stunning beauty. All this combined with an organic atmosphere and an informal design, local cuisine, natural wellbeing and unexpected and vibrant shared experiences. ZEL guests will also have access to a digital community where they can share their experiences and continue enjoying the lifestyle once their stay is over.
One of their many highlights will be the encouragement of social encounters, interactions and experiences through a range of "pop-up corners" dedicated to handicrafts, beauty or product tastings with partner brands.
