Travelore News: A New Admirals Club Lounge Inspired By Music City Coming To Nashville International Airport

American Airlines continues to invest in elevating the customer experience with plans for a new, expanded Admirals Club® lounge at Nashville International Airport®’s (BNA®) new Concourse A.

When complete, the approximately 17,400-square-foot lounge will be the largest airline lounge at BNA and nearly three times the size of the current lounge space, offering customers a more spacious and premium place to relax, work or recharge before their flight. The new location will feature sweeping views of the airfield and a design inspired by Nashville’s vibrant culture and the natural landscapes of Tennessee.

A standout feature of the new lounge will be its outdoor terraces providing airfield views and an indoor balcony overlooking the concourse — unique spaces with a nod to Nashville’s welcoming and social atmosphere.

“The new Admirals Club® lounge at BNA reflects American’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the travel experience,” said American’s Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy Rhonda Crawford. “This lounge is designed to give customers the spirit of Nashville while enjoying the comfort, amenities and service they expect from American.”

The Nashville project is part of American’s broader strategy to modernize and expand its Admirals Club® footprint across the system, with new and renovated lounges designed to reflect the character of the cities they serve while delivering consistent hospitality, comfort and amenities for customers nationwide.

Construction on the new Admirals Club® lounge is targeted to begin in 2027. American’s existing lounge space in Concourse C, Level 4 at BNA will remain open for customers throughout construction to ensure uninterrupted lounge access.

“The airport authority is grateful for our long-standing partnership with American Airlines and their decision to continue investing in BNA. The long-term investment by American Airlines in the new Concourse A ensures we will continue to elevate the passenger experience as we grow to more than 40 million passengers over the next decade,” said Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority President and CEO Doug Kreulen. “As we continue to grow, we are committed to working together with our airline partners to provide outstanding customer service and enhanced facilities that meet the ever-evolving needs and interests of travelers. Thank you to American Airlines for continuing to raise the bar.”

Did You Know There Is A Full-Size Parthenon In Nashville, Tennessee?

We all know that the Parthenon is Greece’s most iconic monument, but imagine stumbling upon this majestic site, not amidst the ancient ruins of Athens, Greece but in the vibrant heart of Nashville, Tennessee.

This unexpected twist is no miracle but a full-scale, meticulously crafted replica of one of history’s most iconic structures. The Nashville Parthenon lies at the heart of the city’s centennial park. It is a true testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage and the real proof of its nickname, “the Athens of the South.”

Originally constructed for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition in 1897, the replica of the Parthenon bridges the ancient with the modern world. However, it is more than that. It is an active link that connects the two sides of the Atlantic, attesting the friendship of the Americans and Greeks to this day. This is the reason why it is worth exploring the history, architectural elements, and cultural impact of this US landmark that brings a glimpse of Greece to the heart of Tennessee.

The origins of Nashville’s Parthenon, a centennial monument

The Nashville Parthenon’s story began in 1897. The monument was originally constructed as a temporary feature for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. It was the time when Tennessee was celebrating the 100th anniversary of its entry to the Union. The purpose of this replica was to embody Nashville’s cultural identity as the “Athens of the South.”

This was a clear nod to the city’s commitment and dedication to education, art, and philosophy. The monument of Nashville was initially built from plaster, wood, and brick. This, of course, comes as a stark contrast to the original Parthenon that dominates the skyline of Athens, Greece.

The ancient Greeks built the original Parthenon at the top of the Acropolis using the finest Greek marble, and it has endured centuries of wear. Captivating the public’s imagination and soon becoming an iconic landmark of the city, it was decided that the structure would be reconstructed in concrete in Nashville, as so happened in the 1920s. This ensured that it would stay there as a monument to Classical beauty and an educational tool for future generations.

Architectural marvels of Nashville’s Parthenon, a tribute to Greece

Its creators aimed to faithfully re-create its ancient predecessor. This is why the Nashville Parthenon features detailed replicas of the original Greek sculptures and designs. From the Doric columns that go around the building to the intricate friezes that adorn its facade, every aspect of the architecture aims to offer an authentic experience of Greek harmony and beauty.

For this reason, the Parthenon in Nashville is a building that serves two main goals. It is not only a testament to ancient Greece but also an example of the American craftsmanship and architectural knowledge of the late 19th century. This is what makes this replica unique—the blend of ancient inspiration with modern techniques of execution.

Unlike the real ruins of the Parthenon in Greece, central to Nashville’s replica is the Athena Parthenos statue. This is a towering re-creation of Phidias‘ original masterpiece that was dominating the temple during ancient times. Standing at 42 feet (12.8 meters) in height, the modern Athena statue was crafted meticulously. Its creators paid keen attention to historical accuracy and detail, as they tried to recreate one of the most beautiful statues of the ancient Greek world.

This is why the replica of the statue was completed with gold leaves and intricate carvings. The statue was not created at the same time with the building. It was only completed in 1990. The decision of the local authorities to add the statue was taken because they wanted to enhance the authenticity of the Parthenon experience. The statue represents Athena, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare, in a form that would be very familiar to ancient Athenians.

Art and exhibitions at Nashville Parthenon

Obviously, the architectural splendor of this monument is not the only reason one should visit. The Nashville Parthenon functions today as a vibrant museum for the entire state of Tennessee, as it houses a rich collection of American art. The Cowan Collection, for example, featuring works from the 19th and 20th centuries, offers visitors a glimpse into America’s artistic heritage.

Additionally, the Parthenon’s temporary exhibits span a wide range of themes and periods. They include exhibits from contemporary art all the way to historical retrospectives. This enriches Nashville’s cultural landscape, offering its visitors much more than one could have imagined. These exhibits also highlight the versatility of the Parthenon as a cultural institution. It is why the Parthenon of Nashville is a true gift to its locals. It promotes art education and cultural appreciation in the best possible venue.

The Nashville Parthenon’s role in community and education

It is evident that the Nashville Parthenon is a true landmark and a cultural and educational hub. It always hosts various programs that engage the local community and its visitors alike. From art classes to lectures about local and international history, it offers valuable educational experiences to thousands of people every year.

One could justifiably say that the Nashville Parthenon is more than just a replica; it is a living museum. Certainly, it is a bridge that connects the United States with Greece and its timeless cultures. Furthermore, it is a testament to the timeless appeal of Classical Greek architecture and beauty. Honestly, the Nashville Parthenon is a real piece of Greece in the heart of modern America.

There's a new landmark in Nashville, rising 40 storeys above the vibrant city and buzzing with energy, passion and warm hospitality. Welcome to the all-new Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Nashville.

"There is a beautiful synergy between this city and Four Seasons renowned style of hospitality," says Christian Clerc, President, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "With each new opening we seek to become part of and contribute to the local culture and community to create truly authentic experiences for those who visit us. Here in Nashville, the connections we have forged have come so naturally thanks to the city's quintessential Southern hospitality, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be here."

The art and light filled Four Seasons encompasses 235 hotel guest rooms and suites, along with a unique chef-driven restaurant and bar concept, a full-service spa and resort-style pool deck, modern event spaces, and much more. With panoramic city and river views and interiors celebrating local heritage and craftsmanship, the stage is set for an all-new luxury experience befitting of this dynamic city that continues to attract creative talent and an increasing number of visitors from across the country and around the world.

"Nashville has always been a place where people come together, whether in the storied venues that have shaped American music, the local havens that continue to further its food culture, or the stadiums and arenas where we cheer on our favourite sports teams. Our aim at Four Seasons is to showcase the very best of the city – from the famous to the many wonderful people and places you might not have heard of yet, but you will," says General Manager Richard Poskanzer, a seasoned Four Seasons hotelier – and music lover – who leads a team of more than 300 professionals ready to welcome guests with open arms. Residents of the building's 144 Four Seasons Private Residences are also part of the expanding community in and around the property.

Four Seasons has already established relationships within the city's music and arts communities, including Songwriter City, which has collaborated with the Hotel to offer the Suite Sounds package – an opportunity to meet and spend time with industry professionals in an intimate setting. Guests are also encouraged to experience "songwriters in the round," wherein a group of chart-topping writers talk – and play – through the artistic process.

Located within walking distance to the city's major sporting and entertainment venues as well as its most legendary musical landmarks, the Hotel team has also spent months combing all areas of the city, from the flashiest to the most off-beat in search of immersive experiences. "If you and your friends want to hit the town for some dancing, we can recommend places best suited to your mood. If shopping is your mission we can do that too, and if the family's come along, we can certainly help plan activities that everyone will enjoy," says Hotel Manager and Tennessee native Bradley Russell.

Mimo Restaurant and Bar, Where Southern Italian Cuisine Meets Southern Hospitality

Aptly named for Tennessee's state bird, the mockingbird, guests of Mimo Restaurant can expect inspired takes on classic Italian dishes featuring locally-sourced ingredients enhancing fresh-caught seafood and other offerings. Many selections are presented family-style for sharing, with scratch-made pastas, breads, pickles and more in abundance at breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Helming the kitchen team is Aniello "Nello" Turco, a Neapolitan chef who first gained international recognition when he earned a Michelin star at Mio at Four Seasons Hotel Beijing.

"Mimo is a place where Chef Nello's signature caviar linguine, enhanced with local fried okra, happily shares a table with not-so-classic fried chicken and waffles elevated with homemade sauces that offer hints of soy and Calabrian chilies," says Director of Food and Beverage Alex Hernandez.

The adjacent Mimo Bar is a destination unto itself where the local favourite Tennessee whiskies and craft brews are just the beginning. Bar Manager Michael Geffin, originally from Miami, has had the enviable of getting to know the local drinking scene and creating a menu to both introduce out of town Hotel guests and surprise and delight locals with something completely new. Case in point: the signature First Citizen cocktail, inspired by historic figure Timothy Demonbreun, that adds Southern peach liqueur to the Italian vermouth and floral Spanish gin of the beloved Italian Negroni. In addition to creative and precise cocktails, more than a dozen taps and a 350-label wine list are enhanced by Chef Nello's bar bites.

Spa, Wellness and a Resort-Style Pool Deck
While results-driven treatments are certainly on the menu at The Spa at Four Seasons, it's a different kind of relaxation experience that invites guests to come together, chill out and enjoy being pampered with friends, one's partner, or on their own.
"Restoration, in all its forms, is the inspiration behind our spa menu," notes Spa Manager Coleman Phillips.

Highlights include a luxurious Gold Body Scrub that takes advantage of the mineral's anti-inflammatory properties to revitalize tired skin; the Gua Sha Facial using tailored massage rituals to sculpt, revive and oxygenate; and the Hot Stone Massage, now popular around the world but originally inspired by the Native American practice of warming stones in fire to ease aching muscles.

Featured skincare brands include Omorovicza, from the ancient spa city of Budapest, Hungary, and a well-established cult favourite of Nashvillians in the know; in addition to Italian brand Pietro Simone. The Spa includes six treatment rooms – including a couple's suite – and also offers a full-service salon with manicure and pedicure services.

A 24/7 state-of-the-art fitness centre designed by celebrity trainer and Four Seasons partner Harley Pasternak is adjacent to the Spa, overlooking the 7th floor resort-style pool deck. Next spring, Four Seasons will introduce Riviera, a poolside dining and drinking experience.

Whether in town for business or pleasure, or looking for a staycation close to home, Four Seasons Hotel Nashville is offering a variety of introductory packages to introduce guests to Music City, Four Seasons-style. Celebrate Elvis's 80th Birthday With These Top 10 Tribute Destinations

On January 8th, 1935, Elvis Aaron Presley was born in Tulepo, Mississippi. This Thursday will mark 80 years since the “King of Rock and Roll” entered this world. In honor of this music history milestone, the travel experts at Cheapflights.com, the online leader in finding and publishing travel deals, have compiled a Top 10 Elvis Tribute Destinations where the man, the music and the legend all live on.

Below are six of our picks for places where Elvis is “Always on our Minds”:
·         Porthcawl, Wales - The small seaside town of Porthcawl is supposedly home to the largest Elvis impersonator convention in the world. Held every September in Wales, a country more famous for Elvis’ friend Tom Jones than the man himself, the Porthcawl Elvis Festival is so large that it even has its own fringe festival. The king may never have been there himself, but that doesn't change the fact that visiting Porthcawl will enable you to see hundreds of him at once.

·         Friedberg & Bad Nauheim, Germany - Elvis was in the United States Army for two years from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed at Ray Barracks in Friedberg. He lived off base in a hotel in nearby Bad Nauheim where the many complaints about all his partying meant he had to move out into a house down the road. Today, both towns have a multitude of sites and nods to Elvis’ military past.

·         Sun Studio, Memphis, United States - In 1953, when Elvis was 18, he went to record a single acetate disc of himself singing atSun Studios as a gift for his mother. The receptionist made the note “Good ballad singer. Hold,” but it wasn’t until nearly a year later when Elvis broke out and began a string of hits. All his important early classics, like “That’s All Right” were recorded under its roof, and the place reverberates with Elvis’ legend. Tours include a chance to sing at the very microphone he used.

·         Hawaii, United States - Elvis did more to popularize the luau than any other big kahuna out there. Not only did he make three light-hearted films in Hawaii with suitably island-drenched soundtracks, but, in 1973, Elvis was the star of “Aloha from Hawaii,” the world’s first live concert broadcast via satellite. A statue of Elvis stands outside the Honolulu stadium where the performance was held. From the beaches where he filmed to the places he stayed to his efforts to raise funds for the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, you can find his influence throughout the islands. Yet another great reason to explore Hawaii!

·         Las Vegas, Nevada, United States - Elvis famously proclaimed ‘Viva Las Vegas!’ and the city still has an enduring connection with his words. There’s a statue dedicated to Elvis outside the Westgate Las Vegas where he did two shows a night for two months a year for seven years back when it was the Las Vegas Hilton. There are lots of claims of people seeing his ghost there, so maybe even in the afterlife Elvis still thinks he’s got all those gigs to do. Elsewhere, the king married Priscilla in the Aladdin Hotel, and there’s the famous Graceland Wedding Chapel where Elvis impersonators perform the wedding rites in his holy honor.

·         Graceland, Memphis, United States - Graceland, the huge estate that he bought for himself and his family back in 1957, is synonymous with Elvis Presley. The 13.8-acre plot currently houses a museum, working stables, a recording studio and two jets (though the planes may be removed as they’re up for auction). We also like that it has the TV he shot after watching something that annoyed him. Graceland is every fan’s top Elvis destination, especially since it’s where the big man died and is now buried – alongside his parents and grandmother. Elvis’ grave is the star attraction of Graceland’s “Meditation Garden.” For the anniversary of his death on August 16th each year, Graceland celebrates Elvis Week, which includes a procession of thousands of fans.

Rounding out the list of locales where Elvis made his mark are these U.S. cities: Los Angeles, California; Palm Springs, California; Tupelo, Mississippi; and Nashville, Tennessee. The Brazilian national football team has taken the Cup home five times and its home country will be hosting matches in 12 different cities. If in Bahia, enjoy exploring the colonial African/European city center of Salvador, and make time to relax on one the lovely coastal beaches, such as Trancoso. If you prefer to be a bit more off-the-beaten path, Manaus, deep in the jungle, reveals the history of the "rubber barons" in places such as the elaborate, 1896 Teatro Amazonas. Nashville
Yes, it's known for its music scene, but this summer, Nashville is poised to become a hot food destination, too, as celebrity chefs are swooping in. Charleston chef Sean Brock started the trend last year with his Husk Nashville, and now Chopped judge Maneet Chauhan is on the verge of opening Chauhan Ale & Masala House in July. Legendary chef Jonathan Waxman of NYC's Barbuto will expand with Adele's by Jonathan Waxman in early summer. What's spurring this influx? The opening of the new, half-billion-dollar Music City Center last year, for one, as well as the resurgence of neighborhoods such as East Nashville and Hillsboro Village.
