Southwest Airlines is continuing its international expansion, announcing a slate of new nonstop flights to the Caribbean for the Summer 2027 season. Travelers looking for a tropical escape will soon have more convenient options to reach the sun-drenched beaches of The Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.
The new routes are part of Southwest's largest summer schedule ever, with flights set to launch in early June 2027. Here is what you need to know about the expanded Caribbean network.
Austin’s New Caribbean Connections
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is a major focus of this expansion. Starting June 3, 2027, Southwest will offer new seasonal, weekend nonstop service to both Nassau, Bahamas (NAS) and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ). Operating twice weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, these routes establish the only nonstop service between Austin and these popular tropical destinations. For Central Texas travelers, this means a faster journey to Nassau's white-sand beaches or Punta Cana's massive all-inclusive resorts without the hassle of a layover.
More Sunshine for Nashville and Pittsburgh
The expansion brings island access to other major markets as well. Nashville (BNA) will see the addition of new nonstop flights to Nassau, making a quick Bahamian getaway much easier for Music City residents. Additionally, starting June 5, 2027, travelers departing from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) will benefit from new Saturday-only nonstop flights straight to Punta Cana (PUJ).

If you are already dreaming of next summer's vacation, you are in luck.
