Travelore News: JetBlue Officially Launches BlueFirst™ Premium Cabin

For decades, JetBlue has built a fierce following by giving economy flyers a little extra—free Wi-Fi, more legroom, and live TV. Now, the airline that made its name democratizing the skies is finally stepping into the premium market. After years of relying solely on its acclaimed Mint product for long-haul luxury, JetBlue has officially opened bookings for BlueFirst™, a brand-new domestic first-class experience designed to compete directly with legacy carriers.

With revenue service taking flight in just a few short months, here is a detailed look at what you can expect when JetBlue puts its modern twist on first class.

The Seat: Room to Stretch Out

BlueFirst is built around a dedicated premium cabin featuring wide recliner seats arranged in an exclusive 2-by-2 layout, meaning no more middle seats. JetBlue is promising a massive upgrade in space, offering up to seven inches of additional legroom and five inches of extra recline compared to standard Main Cabin seats. The airline has also partnered with the popular mattress brand Tuft & Needle, utilizing their T&N Flex foam in the seat cushions to adapt to passenger weight and reduce pressure during the flight.

Fresh Tech and Touchscreen Mixology

JetBlue is carrying its strong reputation for in-flight tech into the new cabin. Every BlueFirst seat features a massive 13.3-inch high-definition screen integrated with the airline's Blueprint entertainment platform. Crucially, the screens feature Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to seamlessly pair your wireless headphones without needing an adapter. You will also never have to worry about a dead battery, as each seat offers an AC power outlet alongside both USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

Perhaps the most unique feature is JetBlue’s new "Mixologist Mode." Built directly into the seatback screen, this feature allows passengers to browse the bar, customize a cocktail by selecting a spirit, mixer, and flavor, and send the order straight to the cabin crew without waiting for the drink cart to roll by.

Elevated Dining: FirstFare

On flights covering 899 miles or more, JetBlue is introducing "FirstFare," a composed meal service featuring a hot entrée, a side dish, and dessert. The airline has even confirmed that special diets will be accommodated, including kosher meals, provided they are requested at least 24 hours before departure.

Even on shorter hops where a full meal isn’t offered, the airline promises to circulate a basket of premium snacks alongside an upgraded beverage program. Drinks will be served in premium glassware from Fable, resting on artist-designed coasters.

Priority Perks on the Ground

The BlueFirst experience starts long before boarding. Travelers booking the standard BlueFirst or fully refundable BlueFirst Flex fares will receive two free checked bags. Your bags will also receive priority tags, ensuring they are among the first to hit the carousel upon arrival. Navigating the airport will also be much smoother, with dedicated priority check-in desks, Group 1 boarding, and access to expedited security lanes at over 30 participating airports.

Where is BlueFirst Flying?

JetBlue intends to eventually roll BlueFirst out across its entire fleet of non-Mint aircraft. The first revenue flight will depart Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on December 8, 2026.

Following the inaugural flight, the rollout will aggressively expand. By mid-January 2027, the service will reach destinations including Washington D.C., New York (LGA and JFK), Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Austin, and Nashville. Further expansion into the spring will see BlueFirst landing in Mexico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, alongside numerous domestic routes connecting the Northeast and Florida.

With competitive introductory pricing—including Boston to Fort Lauderdale starting at $299 one-way—JetBlue is making a strong play for travelers who want an upgraded experience without entirely breaking the bank.
